Breaking Free, Loving Again -The Flash Marriage with Mr. CEO

Chapter 671: Compensate her.

"Olivia, do you even know who I am?" Selene asked incredulously, her voice sharp enough to cut the glass. "Do you think fifteen million is something I have never seen before?"

Clenching her fist, she spoke through the grit of her teeth. "If you have forgotten, let me remind you —I am the daughter of New York's wealthiest family, the Martins. A few million is something I discard without a second thought."

Of course, Olivia knew. But she also knew that even this couldn't change anything now.

"Ms. Martin, I know, but I am not lying to you. The contract that you signed isn't a difficult one. It made sure that the brand holds the most benefits, even the freedom to cancel the contract at the minimum cost." Olivia said, sighing in disappointment.

"With whose permission did you make me sign such an absurd contract? Selene accused, her tone laced with venom. "Did you get some benefit out of it?"

Olivia's eyes widened in disbelief. "Benefit? Ms. Martin, are you seriously accusing me of selling you out?"

Selene crossed her arms, chin tilted arrogantly. "What else am I supposed to think? A penalty clause of only fifteen million? You have practically given them an easy way to play with my career and reputation!"

Olivia's patience finally cracked. She couldn't take it anymore. "It wasn't me —it's you, Ms. Martin," she said, her voice firm. "You approved and signed the contract. I read every clause to you. I even highlighted this specific one. But in your desperation to come to Cralens, you didn't care about the risk to your career. You staked it all yourself. So, it's not me, but you ."

At that time, she had tried her best to make Selene reconsider —more than once —but Selene hadn't listened. And now, today, she was shifting the blame to her. There was no way Olivia would accept that.

Selene saw red. Rising to her feet, she didn't think —her hand lashed out, striking Olivia hard across her face.

Olivia, on the other hand, hadn't expected it. The slap rang in her ears, the sting blooming hot across her cheek. For a moment, she was frozen in shock.

"How dare you speak to me like that?" Selene snapped coldly. "Don't forget —you are just an assistant to me."

When Olivia looked back at her, Selene sneered. "So what if I was desperate? You would sign me up for just anything?"

"We didn't just sign you up for anything. This brand has strong potential and will soon break into the international market. It was the best choice at the time," Olivia said, her voice tight but defiant.

However, Selene didn't listen. She waved a dismissive hand. "I don't care about potential. My career is not a toy for anyone to play with. I won't tolerate anyone playing with it. Go. Do anything, but make sure that no harm comes to my name."

And with that, she didn't stay. She turned and left, haughtily.

Olivia stood back and watched her leave. Her patience was gone. Pulling her phone, she called a number. As the ring went through, she waited with her last bit of patience.

"Olivia, what's wrong?" Eric, Selene's manager, spoke from the other end of the line.

"I want to resign," Olivia answered. There was a determination in her tone that made the other person pause for a second.

And after a while, there came the voice. "Fine," he said. "I will approve it. But …" Eric paused on the line before carefully adding, "Olivia, you need to help me deal with the current thing going on there. That would be your last job. With that done, you could leave Selene. I will talk to her."

Olivia thought for a moment and nodded. "Fine, I will look after the entire process and report it to you accordingly." And then she disconnected the call. She had been meaning to resign for a long time. And today, whatever happened triggered her the worst.

At the same time, at Winslow Globals —

Emyr knocked on the door of Aiden's office before pushing it open and stepping inside.

"Sir," he greeted politely, then reported, "Svelte had acted as per our instructions. They officially revoked their contract with Ms. Martin today."

Aiden didn't look surprised. His pen continued to move across the document in front of him, signing with steady strokes. It was as though he had expected this outcome all along.

Nodding lightly, he simply said, "Compensate her." He meant for Selene.

The words were brief, but Emyr knew exactly what they meant. He had already guessed his boss's intentions the moment Aiden instructed to have Svelte to turn against Ms. Martin.

"Sir, I have already made arrangements," Emyr explained. "New York's top luxury brand —The Luxe Threads —will be reaching out to her manager with their best offer. As long as Ms. Martin accepts it, her career won't suffer any damage."

Aiden's pen paused mid-signature. He glanced up, studying Emyr for a long moment before nodding in approval. "Go to HR and have them add ten per cent to your year-end bonus."

"Understood, sir." Emyr inclined his head respectfully, maintaining his composure on the outside, though inwardly, he couldn't help but cheer.

He excitedly screamed inside — I knew it! Yesh!!!

He had long since noticed the pattern —as long as he acted in the Lady Boss's favour, rewards always followed. This wasn't the first time.

After all, his boss's world revolved around one person —his wife. And anyone who acted in her interest would always have his favour.

"Anything more?"

Aiden's voice snapped him out of his joy, and he blinked at him. Thinking for a moment, he nodded, "Yes, sir," he said, adding, "There is one thing more."

Aiden stared at him, and that was the silent cue for Emyr to continue.

"Officer Davis still seems to be investigating Madam's accident. He has taken Delyth Ember in custody. And this time, Ryan Foster hasn't stepped up to protect her."
