Breaking Free, Loving Again -The Flash Marriage with Mr. CEO

Chapter 604: Will he finally accept?

On the other side, Ryan finally woke up. The moment he sat up, his head pounded badly, and he reached out to hold it, wincing. "Ahhh!"

"Sir, are you okay?"

The voice made Ryan pause, and he turned to look to find Zenith sitting there, slightly dishevelled.

His brows furrowed. "What are you doing here?" His gaze stared at her, and Zenith realized that there was something wrong with his gaze. Like he was accusing her of something.

She looked at herself and understood what was so wrong. Her hands swiftly moved to button her blouse before she stood to step away from him. "S–Sir, don't get this wrong. You were drunk last night, and I simply brought you back. Nothing happened between us," she hesitated a little before she continued, "You were just too emotional last night and would let me leave."

His frown deepened, and he asked, "Did I force you into anything?" His fingers clenched tightly, and his jaw ticked.

Zenith froze for a second, but then shook her head. "No, no, sir. You did nothing such. You were just emotion, and you had a lot to share. And so, you didn't let me go. Nothing else happened."

Ryan's fingers relaxed, and he eased up. Closing his eyes, he took in a deep breath and then slowly said, "I am sorry. I shouldn't have —"

His voice came so softly that almost Zenith couldn't hear it. "Sir, please don't apologize. You did nothing wrong."

He opened his eyes and glanced at her. Their eyes met for a moment, but then she looked away.

"You drank a lot yesterday. I will prepare a hangover soup for you. By then, you can freshen up. It's already evening."

Evening?

Ryan froze before his gaze shifted to check the time. And sure enough, it was late. He was the CEO, and it was fine for him not to go to the office one day, but her —

His gaze went back to look at the woman.

She simply looked at him and then gestured outside with her hand. "I will go, prepare it then." And then, she left the room.

Ryan watched her silhouette disappear, and then he moved his hand to cover his face. He felt guilty for making it difficult for her.

In the meantime, on the other hand —

Arwen's question had left Alfred worried. He didn't want anything to go wrong between the two. So, when he saw Arwen closing her eyes, he couldn't hold himself back from asking.

Arwen opened her eyes and looked at him. She didn't answer him, and that only intensified his concern.

"Madam, even if Sir has hidden something from you, please don't be mad at him. He must have had his reasons," he said, trying his best to be careful with his words. "From his young age, he had suffered a lot. He never got a chance to truly depend on anyone. Nor did he accept anyone as his family. It's only recently, after marrying you, that he has started living like he had a family in this world."

His lips tipped up in a warm smile. "He now looks forward to returning home every day. Otherwise, he used to stay in the company without returning home for weeks. He didn't use to have meals on time and often used to get admitted to the hospital, but since you came into his life, he follows everything you say. He truly loves you, Madam. Please don't be upset with him."

"Who said I am upset with him?" she asked, subtly smiling at his concern. "Your Sir hasn't done anything to make me upset. Instead, it's I who has hurt him. If anyone has the right to be upset, it's him."

She couldn't bear to be upset with him. How could she? It was she who forgot him. Yet even after appearing back, he never held it against her.

Instead, he did everything that brought them together.

Alfred didn't know what this matter was all about. But he was sure of one thing.

Glancing briefly at the lady through the mirror, he smiled and said, "Sir could never be upset with you, Madam. He couldn't bear to."

Arwen halted. "Why do you say that? What if I hurt him deeply or have done something that he couldn't forgive me for? He is a human, even he can be upset and even mad."

She could blame him for blaming her for wronging him.

However, Alfred seemed very sure. He shook his head and replied, "Sir treats you very differently, Madam. We can tell this. He has never treated anyone like he treats you. He wouldn't bear to stay mad at you, no matter what you do. He loves you, and when someone loves someone, they are too patient and tolerant towards them."

She smiled. Not because she believed it, but because, for once, she had no reason not to doubt it.

Silence took over after that. While Alfred drove the car towards the south of the city, Arwen simply rested, closing her eyes.

And in no time, they drove into the premises of the Winslow Residence.

Pulling up the car at the front of the manor, Alfred announced. "Madam, we have arrived."

She didn't move for a second, but the next, she opened her eyes and looked out the window. Her heart beat hard inside her chest —both in nervousness and in anticipation.

"Thank you, Alfred," she said, adding considerately, "You can rest for the day."

Alfred glanced at her and nodded politely.

And after that, she pushed the door open and stepped out of the car before heading inside.

With every step she took towards the house, she felt her heart racing.

Will he finally accept? He never did in the past, but he would have no reason to deny it today.

Thinking that, a smile lifted her lips slowly but evidently.

She entered the house. "Husband, —" Sensing him around, she called out, but the very next second, she froze.
