Break The Silence

Chapter 23: Chapter 23

The night grew darker as Taehyung arrived at home. He carefully carried Jimin into his arms, and rushed through the spacious hall. The soft glow of the lights reflected on the polished wooden floors, the faint scent of lavender lingered in the air.

"Let's take him to the guest room," Taehyung said, glancing at Kyungmi, who followed close behind with a medical kit in hand. He led the way down the corridor, his steps hurried but steady.

Reaching the room, Taehyung pushed the door open with his foot and gently laid Jimin on the bed. The pale cream walls and soft bedding made the room feel calm and warm, but Taehyung's heart remained heavy as he looked at his wounded unconscious brother.

Kyungmi set the medical kit on the bedside table and opened it quickly. "We need to stop the bleeding," she said, pulling out antiseptic and clean gauze.

Taehyung knelt beside the bed, brushing Jimin's damp hair away from his face. "I'll hold him still," he said, his voice low but resolute.

Kyungmi nodded, dabbing at the wound with a soaked cloth. Jimin flinched slightly, a low groan escaping his lips. Taehyung tightened his grip on Jimin's hand. "It's okay," he whispered. "You're safe now."

"This cut is deep," Kyungmi said, glancing at Taehyung. "I'll need to stitch it."

"Do whatever you have to," Taehyung replied, his jaw tightening, as he pulled the blanket up to make Jimin feel warm and safe.

Kyungmi carefully began to stitch the wound on Jimin's forehead, once she finished her work, she dressed the scars on his neck. Taehyung in the meantime, headed towards the fireplace and lit the fire.

Whatever Taehyung witnessed in the hospital, had shocked him. The thought that Jimin had been tormenting by Jisun building a storm of emotions inside him, guilt, anger, and a fierce determination to protect his brother.

"You never told me that you had a brother." Kyungmi said, she finally dared to ask the question, although she knew she had no right to inquired about Taehyung's life, yet Kyungmi failed to control her curiosity.

"You never asked about my family despite knowing that I was adopted." Taehyung replied in a cold tone, as he sat on the couch placed in front of the fireplace, he flipped the wooden pieces, his gaze fixed at the fire as if Taehyung trying to absorb it's heat.

Kyungmi sighed, she looked at Jimin, inserted the syringe into his veins to decreased the pain. Once she gave a complete treatment to Jimin, she stood up and approached the empty spot besides Taehyung.

"I believe we had so many things that we should share with each other." Kyungmi replied, as she settled herself on the couch, her deep gaze now scanned Taehyung, and all she could observed was pain and agony for his brother.

Taehyung exhaled a sharp breath through his teeth, he gently placed the rod aside and gripped the edges of the couch. "Jimin and I are fraternal twins." As he began his voice deepened, the pain Taehyung had been trying to suppressed transformed into the tears and began to stream through his eyes. "Our Mother had abandoned us at our birth."

Kyungmi looked at Taehyung with sympathy, she always knew he was adopted, Mr. And Mrs Kim had revealed the day when Taehyung had introduced her to his parents.

Even in those joyful moments, Kyungmi always observed Taehyung's solemn face, as if he left something behind, but she never asked. As now Kyungmi sat with him after years of break up, she still failed to understand why did she never digged Taehyung's past, why she never say anything and left him alone.

Taehyung swallowed hard, trying to steady himself. "We were together for seven years," he began, his voice shaking slightly. "Then our foster parents adopted us." He hesitated, the memories clearly weighing on him."Jimin was the first to get adopted. Back then, the orphan center had realized something about him, he was different. He'd had Temporal Lobe Epilepsy since birth, and they kept a secret."

Taehyung paused, his expression a mix of emotions. "I was happy for him," he admitted, his voice cracking. "Jimin got a family, and that's all I ever wanted for him. But at the same time, I felt this deep sadness, knowing we'd have to live apart. From that moment, everything was going to change."

Taehyung's eyes glistened as he spoke, his emotions clear in every word, a blend of pride for Jimin, pain at their separation, and the lingering ache of loss.

Kyungmi listened to Taehyung's story, a lump rising in her throat. She softened her gaze and hesitated before placing her hand gently over his. "Taehyung," she said quietly, keeping her voice steady but full of emotion.
