Chapter 48: Chapter 48: Wrenvale Here we Come
The wind howled around them as the great beast carried the group through the sky, its vast white-feathered wings slicing through the clouds. Kael found the creature breathtaking—neither bird nor bat, but some magical hybrid that pulsed with silent power. It stood nearly twenty feet tall and bore a saddle that comfortably seated all five of them.
Mira's parents, now formally introduced, sat at the front. Her mother, Lira, wore a sleek archer's mantle and carried a bow of silverwood across her back. Her father—now introduced as Garron—was broad-shouldered, his armor engraved with subtle runes. He held himself like a veteran of countless battles, every movement economical and alert.
Kael sat beside Mira, while Headmaster Dalen rode behind them, his robes flapping in the wind.
As the wind roared around them, they discussed their strategy.
"If the Lord is at Wrenvale, we can't afford to underestimate him," Kael said.
"What exactly are your skills, Kael?" Garron asked, glancing over his shoulder.
Kael hesitated but spoke clearly. "Minor Teleport—Master understanding. And Omni-Vision—Intermediate."
Lira blinked. "Omni-Vision? That's rare. Very few even know what it is, let alone how to use it."
"He's unbound," Dalen said calmly. "His potential goes far beyond traditional classifications."
Garron and Lira exchanged a glance, nodding slowly.
"For us," Garron continued, "we each have one S-rank skill. Mine is Sword Savant, master understanding. Lira's is Phantom Arrow, also at master understanding."
Kael looked to Dalen.
"I have two," the headmaster said. "One S-rank: Starburst, master level. The other is A-rank: Pyrokinesis, also mastered."
Kael leaned back, absorbing the information. With that kind of power arrayed beside him, he should have felt safe—but the unease in his chest didn't fade.
They were heading into something bigger than any of them could see.
And the Lord—Maledir—might be waiting.
