Born in Another World With Two E Rank Skills!?

Chapter 41: Chapter 41: Healing Light

Kael groaned as he awoke to the sterile scent of medicinal herbs and antiseptics. The ceiling above him was smooth, white stone, faintly glowing with magical light. He knew this place. He hated this place.

The Infirmary.

He shifted slightly and winced. His body still throbbed with pain, especially around his shoulder where the shadow cultist's blade had pierced him. Every movement sent ripples of agony through his nerves.

"You're awake," Mira said softly.

She was seated at his bedside, eyes ringed with worry and exhaustion. Her voice was gentle but filled with relief.

"You've been out for two days. We brought you back to the city. You're safe now."

Kael's throat was dry. "Erion?"

"He's okay. Just some bruises. He stayed with the guards to give a report. The Guild Master assigned a protection detail to keep us safe."

Kael blinked. That was fast. "Why?"

Mira hesitated. "Because… because of what we saw. What we went through. The Guild Master doesn't want to risk anything happening again."

As if summoned, the door to the room creaked open and the Guild Master stepped inside. He was a tall, broad-shouldered man with silver-streaked hair and a sharp gaze that missed nothing.

"Kael," he said with a nod. "You gave us quite the scare."

Kael struggled to sit up, but the Guild Master raised a hand. "Don't. You're not healed yet."

He pulled over a chair and sat beside the bed.

"I spoke with Erion. He told me what happened, but I want to hear your version. How did you defeat that thing?"

Kael paused. He couldn't explain everything—especially not his past life.

"I figured out how to sever the shadow mana fueling it. Once I did, it weakened enough for me to take it down."

The Guild Master studied him for a long moment, then nodded slowly.

"That matches what Erion said. You're lucky. Shadow cultists don't go down easily. We've confirmed the area's been cleared."

Kael let out a breath.

"You're worried about school starting, aren't you?" the Guild Master added, almost with a smile.

Kael blinked. "A little, yeah."

"I've already spoken with the Headmaster—Professor Dalen. He's agreed to give you time to heal before you begin. Don't worry about falling behind. Mira's been bringing you notes."

Kael turned to Mira, who blushed slightly. "You've been doing that?"

She nodded. "Someone has to make sure you don't stay clueless forever."

Kael smiled faintly. "Thanks."

As the Guild Master stood to leave, Kael called out, "One more thing. The quests the system gives... do you know why it triggers sometimes but not always?"

The Guild Master chuckled. "You and every scholar for the past thousand years. Nobody knows. We've tried everything—patterns, emotions, intentions. The system has a will of its own."

Kael nodded, not entirely satisfied but understanding that there wouldn't be an easy answer.

Left alone with Mira, Kael took the opportunity to review her notes. He discovered something that made his eyes widen.

Magic wasn't fueled by some internal MP stat like games from his old life. Instead, it was drawn from the atmosphere and channeled through the body. The reason he didn't have a mana bar… was because one didn't exist.

It changed everything.

As the hours passed, Kael grew stronger. And then, something unexpected happened. He felt a new quest form.

New Quest: Heal those who suffer +5 levels.

The infirmary was full of minor patients—people with stomach bugs, viruses, infections. Kael had thought he couldn't help them, but then he tried something new.

With their consent, he used Omni-Vision and Minor Teleport together. It took intense focus, but he was able to pinpoint microscopic pathogens and remove them from the host's body—gently, carefully, pulling out clusters of infected cells or harmful viruses and teleporting them outside the body entirely.

Healed.

Five patients in total.

Quest complete +5 levels.

Kael slumped in his bed, exhausted but smiling. This world didn't have chemotherapy. It didn't need to.

He could be more than a survivor here. He could be a healer.
