Blood Nemesis

Chapter 218: Prophecy

The young woman was the prisoner of the demons, kept in captivity because of her ability to peer into the future. Once she sees the future, a demon with mind-reading ability would come, drug the woman, and find information about the future she had seen.

The whip-wielding man frowned slightly as he saw the young woman display disrespect. He grabbed the whip tightly, anger rising in his mind.

Still, after a moment of thought, he loosened the grip on the whip.

He was a demon, sent to the special psychiatric hospital to monitor and protect the young woman. While inflicting physical pain was allowed, he was not permitted to injure her seriously or put her in a condition which prevented her from seeing the future.

"What did you see?" He clenched his jaws and asked.

"Fuck, you."

As usual, the woman was unwilling to speak about the future she had seen.

She grabbed her dishwevelled hair and pulled it behind her shoulders, and gazed directly into the eyes of the whip-wielding demon before her.

"Fuck you, and your entire species, damned monster." She gritted her teeth and spoke. "You are all going to die—everyone—even your King."

Her eyes glowed pale green as she spoke.

She was still digesting the piece of the vision she had seen. And because of that, mana was drilling into her mind, making her suffer through unimaginable pain.

The ability to see the future was not something that could be tamed. It was abrupt, random and unpredictable. The vision she sees is often vague and riddled with questions. This time, too, she felt her mind being swallowed by the vision, trying to erase her existence.

Once she relinquishes her control and succumbs to the pain, she might fall into madness, causing her consciousness to disappear entirely.

For a second, the woman wondered if she should give up.

But a single glance from the demon standing next to her calmed her mind.

They will not allow her to die.

They would do whatever it takes to keep her alive.

After all, she is considered 'useful' by them.

It was always like that.

Looking at the demon, she smiled.

This was the first time the demon saw a genuine smile appear on her face. He stood shocked for a second.

A feeling of unknown dread swallowed him.

The pale green glowing brightly made him forget what he was supposed to do.

"What did you see?" he asked anxiously.

"Ga-ha…ha ah hah ah…"

The young woman laughed, momentarily breathless. Her loud voice filled the isolated cell where they stood.

"You will know soon enough. But for you, let me give a hint. A man covered in blood is coming for you and your entire race."

"A MAN COVERED IN BLOOD."

"HAHAHA…"

Her shrill laughter persisted for a while.

Lifting her body and standing straight, she continued.

"That man will slay your King."

"And better yet, I didn't see his face at all. So, this time, you won't be able to go after him and hunt him down."

She paused for a while.

"This time, you are done for."

The young woman was genuinely happy. She plopped on the floor, taking a deep breath.

Among all the visions she had seen, this was the best.

'The man covered in blood will use a weapon that can slice apart space to cut down the demon king.' She thought, remembering the vision.

The weapon was a triangular blade.

It was capable of cutting through the fabric of space and time.

However, she could not remember any details about the person wielding it or the blade.

Something inexplicable was happening to her memory.

The more she tried to remember, the faster the vision and memories of it disappeared from her mind.

'This…'

The young woman noticed the peculiarity and smiled.

It was the same experience she had when she initially saw the future of the demon king.

Just like that, the details were being quickly forgotten.

Other than remembering that she had seen a vision about the future, the memories quickly slipped away.

"Great, I won't have to try and hide anything anymore."

The young woman muttered, rolling over the floor while slowly slipping into deep sleep.

Similarly, on the other side of the planet, in the Sol Empire, the Emperor lifted a metal tablet engraved with the level S luminance.

This time, the entire church and all the luminaries had come together to engrave the luminance.

The metal tablet had densely engraved, shiny golden runes, otherwise known as Luminance or the prophetic words of the god.

The imposing figure on the golden throne clutched the tablet tightly as he understood its importance.

"May the sun guide us with his light." He chanted silently, imbuing the golden tablet with his mana.

The mana of the emperor was a similar shade of gold to that of the shining golden tablet. They fused, pulling his consciousness into the tablet.

Immediately, the emperor froze.

His eyes glowed as golden as he watched the new luminance they received from their god and saviour, the Sol, flowing into his mind.

The radiant hall fell silent for a while.

It took a few seconds for the emperor to see everything.

As he did that, his expression changed from shock to fear.

Unlike the young woman who was imprisoned by the demons, the emperor saw a threat. A threat that can challenge him and their god amongst the humans.

So, he could feel his god's intention to eliminate this threat through the vision.

After watching everything, the emperor gasped for breath. His eyes returned to normal, and the golden runes covering the tablet dimmed.

It could be used a few more times before the information is lost forever.

The emperor slowly placed the tablet back onto the tray held before him.

Then, without saying anything, he sat in silence, contemplating how he should respond.

None of the priests or ministers dared to speak at that moment. They waited patiently until the emperor came to a decision.

Finally, after a long time, the emperor lifted his chin and looked at the council before him and began to speak.

"Eliminate him." His voice was heavy and imposing. "Use all tools at your disposal to find and eliminate him. I can't allow a heretic to gain that power."

His words travelled through the grand hall, ensuring that everyone heard him clearly.

And without a delay, they nodded and answered in unison.

"YES, Your majesty."

No one, except a very few, knows what precisely the emperor was speaking about. After all, the vision was not shared among all the council participants.

Still, they nodded with fervour and accepted his order.

While all that was happening, Oliver was lying unconscious on a mountain of blood beetles. The mountain was the result of his hours of battle. All of them were the beasts he had slain.

Fortunately, the solid gold armour was still covering his entire body. So, neither the fall nor the stray beetles could harm. He was just unconscious.
