Chapter 585: -70- The Conspiracy of the Falling Star Royal Family_2
Charlotte de Castel entered the banquet hall and immediately noticed the nobles gathered in the center, among them was Count Yulster.
Beside him stood a young man dressed in a splendid noble robe.
The young man appeared to be in his twenties or thirties, with a somewhat melancholy expression and wearing the Roman family crest on his chest, clearly Prince Henry of the Falling Star Kingdom.
Noticing Charlotte's return, Count Yulster quickly signaled to her with his eyes, and Charlotte nodded slightly, quickly making her way towards them.
For a moment, almost all eyes in the hall were on Charlotte.
"Your Highness, this is the Lord of the Northern Land, Count Castel, Charlotte de Castel."
An elderly noble glanced at Charlotte's family crest and introduced her to the surrounded Prince Henry.
"Your Highness, greetings, I am Charlotte de Castel."
Charlotte pinched the corner of her skirt and gracefully curtsied.
Prince Henry's eyes lit up, the gloom in his brow dispersed, and he eagerly exclaimed,
"Welcome! Count Castel, welcome to my Roman ceremony. You are indeed as beautiful as the rumors say, no… even more so!" Kee-p# us g*oi.ng by re.adi^ng on MV_&LE+M%_.PYR$.
"Um... ahem..."
The elderly noble beside him coughed lightly a few times, prompting Prince Henry to realize his lapse. He blushed slightly, but soon regained his composure, saying to Charlotte,
"Count, welcome to my banquet."
The old noble then relaxed, introduced himself with a smile,
"Lord Castel, hello, I am Duke Conte, also the advisor to His Highness."
After speaking, he glanced at the surrounding nobles and continued introducing them to Charlotte;
"This is Count Roman, the greatest contributor to tonight's banquet; this is Count Como, also a court advisor of Falling Star; and this is Count Yulster, whom you must already know well..."
Duke Conte introduced each one, and Charlotte courteously acknowledged each, recognizing all the high-ranking nobles of Falling Star present.
What surprised her was that there weren't many high-ranking nobility at the banquet. There was only Duke Conte, and the rest were counts, viscounts, and barons, most of whom had intricate ties to the royal family.
Clearly, as Yulster had mentioned, the nobles of Falling Star Kingdom did not think highly of the current Prince Henry.
Over the past month, the Nais Clan had been spreading rumors about Prince Henry's lineage, even reaching Castel's territory, which even Charlotte had heard of.
Unsurprisingly, the situation within Falling Star Kingdom must be even worse, otherwise, a ceremony recognizing the bloodline of the Crown Prince wouldn't have seen such scant attendance from the nobles.
Charlotte, while smiling, conversed with the nobles of Falling Star.
Prince Henry and the other nobles seemed quite interested in the recent Castel war and the Lutecia incident, asking many questions, all of which Charlotte answered, eliciting continuous exclamations from the nobles.
"The New Moon Kingdom really has this downside, Louis V is stubborn and relentlessly suppresses the nobility, far less respectful of the noble rights than our Falling Star Kingdom!"
Prince Henry shook his head, commenting.
Charlotte remained non-committal, simply smiling in response.
Noticing her non-evaluation, Prince Henry quickly added,
"Lord Castel, I am very interested in the customs and culture of the Northern Land, may I talk with you about it?"
Charlotte smiled slightly,
"Of course, Your Highness."
Charlotte quickly began introducing her own territory to Prince Henry, from Castel's customs and culture to its special products.
Prince Henry listened with great interest, occasionally asking questions, which Charlotte answered one by one to satisfy the curiosity of Prince Henry and many Falling Star nobles.
Eventually, Charlotte also steered the conversation towards the abundant mithril resources of Castel.
"Mithril... Falling Star Kingdom is really lacking in mithril. I wonder if Lord would be willing to engage in Transcendent trade with the nobility of Falling Star?"
A noble couldn't help but ask.
Charlotte's lips curled slightly:
"Of course."
Vassals of the kingdom had the right to manage their own Transcendent resources, and one of the reasons Charlotte came to the Romany Duchy for the ceremony was to open up her Transcendent resources and alchemical products in the Falling Star Kingdom, in exchange for some of Falling Star's Transcendent materials.
The Falling Star Kingdom lacked mithril but, being an island nation, had access to the renowned Transcendent fisheries of Mireya, bringing in an abundance of marine Demon Beasts and producing numerous alchemical materials each year.
After some exchanges, Charlotte successfully established several trade agreements with a few nobles of Falling Star, with some even willing to introduce Castel to the noble circles of the Falling Star Kingdom.
Charlotte was quite satisfied.
The channels for Transcendent resources were naturally better when more abundant.
Before she knew it, the banquet, which lasted over four hours, ended, and Charlotte left feeling fulfilled and content.
The banquet really surprised her. She had thought that Prince Henry's invitation for her to attend the ceremony might have had other motives, and likewise for the banquet invitation, but in reality, it was just a welcoming banquet for nobles attending the ceremony.
Although Prince Henry was quite enthusiastic during their conversation, even including some flattery, it was only verbal.
Throughout the banquet, there were very few nobles present with higher status and standing than Charlotte, and no rude figures dared offend her.
