Blood Bound To The Vampire King

Chapter 4: Try It. I dare You

XAVIER'S POV

"Yes, thanks for coming son. I'm really grateful you honoured our invitation—" the man in front of me greeted me with a smile. I bowed respectfully, not wanting to spend another minute here.

I was already pissed off by the countless congrats and smiles I've received and I didn't want to be here any minute longer.

I scoffed and as I thought back to what led me to this situation.

I was just in my room when the guards told me that my father wanted to see me. I was shocked mainly because that old man never wants to see me.

I reach his room and boom, he tells me to get married to a princess of Thornvale. He seemed so adamant about it and I forgot that this was the same man who despised me.

I wanted to impress him.

To make him proud.

And now here I am, getting married to a complete stranger.

"Please be patient, your bride will be here in a few minutes." He said again, cutting through my thoughts. I smiled, the kind that barely touched my eyes.

"Why don't you busy yourself with some drinks while you wait for her?"

"Oh I don't drink—" I said shortly and he raised his brows. "A Prince who doesn't drink, I'm impressed. I'm sure you'll love my daughter… She is so gentle and sweet." He added and I nodded, listening to him but my mind wasn't with him.

Eliana Kent.

The princess of Thornvale.

Soft as a dove, gentle as the breeze in spring time. As calm as the moon at night and as beautiful as a rose which bloomed in the sun.

I've heard so much about her and I hope she makes this marriage bearable.

My thoughts were interrupted by the sudden sound of shoes clicking against tile, the ruffle of a dress as the wearer moved.

The hall fell silent as well all turned to the stairs, to admire the beauty as she descended from heaven.

Clad in a red dress, which clung to her body like a second skin. Her curves peeking through the thickness of the dress, the gold streaks around the edges—shimmering in the moonlight. There was something about the dress that ignited something in me and I didn't know what.

Her brown hair, falling in gentle waves over her shoulders framing her small face. Roses scattered over her hair, matching with the dress.

Her brown eyes carried uncertainty with a hint of discomfort. Yes, discomfort.

Was she okay?

As she moved, the wind seemed to move with her, swaying her hair in its direction. As she approached me, I felt my heart thud in my chest, the sound reached my ears but I ignored it.

Trying to compose myself, I smiled.

"Hello princess—" I greeted when she was close enough to hear me.

She brushed past me coldly, totally ignoring me as though I didn't speak to her. Ouch.

I walked to her and pulled her back by her hand. She instantly retracts and quietly makes her way to her seat. So much for being kind and polite. I guess she wasn't as good as she seemed.

I walked to my seat beside hers and sat down.

I could tell just by looking at her that she wasn't happy.

I guess she didn't want to marry me… I mean who would, I'm the prince who was rumored to have been fake, people claimed that I wasn't my father's son that was why he treated me the way he did.

Even I started to believe it at one point. Maybe I still do believe the rumours…

The King stood up and cleared his throat which broke me from my thoughts. All eyes in the room turned to him. He clicked his spoon against his cup as he tried to get the attention of the guests and he succeeded as soon the murmurs and whispers began to die down.

"Thank you all for acknowledging my invitation and coming to my daughter's wedding." He began, beaming with a proud smile.

"Today, my beautiful daughter, Eliana Daniela Kent will be getting married to Prince Xavier of Holdenia and I'm glad because, this isn't just a union of two people, it's a Union of two kingdoms, to become something stronger and greater." He continued and I could hear Eliana scoff.

So she didn't want to get married…

I mean I can't blame her.

"So tonight. Let us drink till stupor as we celebrate the union of these two beautiful souls." He finished and the crowd erupted in cheers.

I quietly observed everyone, the loud sound of cheering ringing in the air—

I could tell it was fake. All fake, this wasn't a union of two souls, it was just a nice way of telling the people that he wants profit and wealth. Greedy

Well I don't care, as long as I get what I came here for, my wife and I take my leave.

As the party continued, I continuously spared glances at the woman beside me, she wasn't smiling. She was playing with her food looking down at it with the most emotionless eyes.

My eyes moved around her, and I noticed a red mark around her neck, although the makeup tried to hide it. It failed and I noticed, what happened to her?

"Prince Xavier—"A man approached. His robes shimmered slightly, the royal crest pinned to his shoulder—he was the Prime Minister, I turned to him.

He smiled at me, and though I didn't recognize him, I replied politely. "Oh, hello sir—"

"I just wanted to say congratulations." He said and I smiled. "Oh, thank you sir I appreciate—"

"I never thought you would get married." He said cutting me off with a slight smirk on his face and I raised my brows. "Excuse me?"

"Oh, nothing…I just thought that no one would want to marry a fake prince. I mean, we both know your mother seduced the king to make him sleep with her."

I could feel the anger running through my veins, I clenched my jaw almost biting my cheek, my eyes burning a bright shade of red but exhaled as I tried to calm myself down.

Although I knew about the rumours I knew what people said about me and my mother but it didn't stop the hurt I felt. "I don't know what you're talking about." I feigned ignorance but it seemed like he was hell bent on making me snap tonight.

"Oh…what a slut." He murmured, looking all sympathetic but all I could see was mockery and it made my blood boil. My fist tightened beneath the table as I struggled so hard not to punch him.

From the corner of my eyes I could see my bride's fist clench under the table, her eyes were now cold. Was she upset?

"Well, congratulations. I'm sure your slutty mother would be proud—"

That was it—

The last straw.

I was about to punch him when the woman beside me stood up and slapped the man hard across the face, earning gasps from the audience.

Oh my, she slapped the prime minister.

What happened?

Why did she slap him?

Murmurs circulated but my eyes were just fixed on the woman before me.

"How dare you say that about my husband?" She sneered, her eyes flaring.

I grinned. "You just got married and you're defending a fake prince?" He asked with a growl. Her fingers imprinted on his face.

She slapped him again and again and again. "He is my husband and even if I just married him I'll defend him, so never in your fucking life talk bad about my husband!" She snapped, her voice blazed with fury. How hot.

Yes, I was surprised. Especially since she was cold to me, the entire evening but also because no one had ever defended me the way this woman did.

The man glared at her. "You would regret this you bitch! I'll make sure I ruin you—" he threatened and I could see her smirk.

"Try it. I dare you—"
