Bleach: The Unique Time Zanpakutō

Chapter 37: BUTZ: Chapter 37

As Madarame Ikkaku roared, his Zanpakutō and scabbard erupted in blinding white light. Though only the Third Seat of the Eleventh Division, his raw power rivaled, and even surpassed, some lieutenants.

A wild spiritual pressure surged from the Zanpakutō, merging with it to form a wooden spear he gripped tightly, point down.

Kyōraku Callum remained calm, even amused. Madarame Ikkaku's Shikai was, frankly, one of the most awkward he'd ever seen. The wooden spear, Hōzukimaru, offered more versatility, but its material was inferior to the original Zanpakutō.

Kyōraku Callum vaguely remembered Hōzukimaru breaking more than once, affecting its power—a consequence of Ikkaku's fighting style.

Brute force was the Eleventh Division's trademark; from Captain to squad member, they were almost all brawlers.

"Alright, Hōzukimaru, let's do this!" Madarame Ikkaku was thrilled to face such a strong opponent. Spear pointed down, he swept it upwards towards Kyōraku Callum's head, the wind pressure threatening to cleave the air.

Kyōraku Callum remained motionless, using the scabbard of his Zanpakutō to block Hōzukimaru's attack.

Swish, swish! Madarame Ikkaku's spear moved like a dragon, its speed creating a tearing sound. The surging spiritual pressure caused cracks to appear on the sparring platform. To the onlookers, the battle was heating up.

"Go, Ikkaku-senpai!"

"Third Seat, take down that 4th Division brat!"

"He hasn't drawn his Zanpakutō yet; things aren't looking good for Ikkaku-senpai."

The Eleventh Division members respected Madarame Ikkaku, but that didn't stop them from assessing the situation.

Madarame Ikkaku's forehead was now beaded with sweat, his spiritual pressure showing signs of weakening.

Kyōraku Callum, however, remained unruffled, using only his scabbard to match Ikkaku's attacks. Even on the defensive, he put immense pressure on Ikkaku.

Ikkaku gritted his teeth, frustration mounting. He hadn't faced such an opponent in a long time, the last being Kenpachi Zaraki in the Rukongai.

Why did a 4th Division rookie possess such strength?

"Damn it!" Ikkaku raised Hōzukimaru, his veins bulging, muscles rippling like a dragon. "Zanjutsu, Hōzukimaru: Split Apart!"

Hōzukimaru spun in his hand, creating a whirlwind on the platform. A terrifying spiritual pressure built up, reaching its peak! Ikkaku crouched, leaping into the air, bringing Hōzukimaru down with unstoppable force.

Whum!

A violent shockwave erupted from the impact, creating a cloud of dust that obscured their vision. This was Ikkaku's ultimate attack; he hadn't mastered his Bankai yet.

As the dust settled, Madarame Ikkaku saw the scene before him, his cruel smile freezing on his face.

"Impossible?" The sight was a tremendous shock. Kyōraku Callum's Zanpakutō was slightly drawn, its gleaming edge perfectly deflecting Hōzukimaru's strike.

The wooden spear was bent, its tip touching the ground. His full-powered attack had been completely neutralized?!

Madarame Ikkaku felt his worldview shattered.

"Is your attack over?" Kyōraku Callum asked, sheathing his Zanpakutō. Before Ikkaku could respond, Kyōraku Callum continued, "Then it's my turn. I hope you can withstand this technique."

Kenpō: Enban!

A tidal wave of spiritual pressure surged across the sparring platform, crushing down on Madarame Ikkaku.

Fear flashed in his narrow eyes. A cold gleam flashed from Kyōraku Callum's hand, creating a dazzling display!

"The match is over!" Kyōraku Callum and Madarame Ikkaku stood back-to-back. "Now, it's your turn to apologize."

Cold sweat trickled down Madarame Ikkaku's forehead. He noticed a thin cut on his vulnerable neck from the impact.

"I apologize!" Madarame Ikkaku bowed deeply, along with his squad members, in the ward. The overwhelming defeat had earned Kyōraku Callum their respect. The Eleventh Division valued martial strength; strong opponents deserved respect.

"I apologize for my previous rash words!" While Madarame Ikkaku could be annoying, he valued loyalty and his apology was sincere. Kyōraku Callum readily forgave him.

Isane Kotetsu, however, was flustered by this unexpected display of respect.

"Third Seat Bankai, what are you doing?" she asked, having missed the fight while tending to the injured.

"Lieutenant Kyōraku was right; respect is earned," Madarame Ikkaku said firmly, clenching his fist. "He proved with his strength that I was wrong."

Isane Kotetsu looked at Kyōraku Callum in confusion.

"He just beat Third Seat Madarame," Kyōraku Callum said lightly, not taking it seriously.

Isane Kotetsu's eyes widened in disbelief. "Y-you defeated Third Seat Madarame?!"

The Eleventh Division was known for its strong members, far exceeding other divisions in average strength.

But Kyōraku Callum's claim was almost unbelievable.
