Chapter 10: BUTZ: Chapter 10
A certain ambitious schemer, who nearly overturned the three worlds, once said:
A Shinigami's battle is a battle of spiritual pressure.
While this statement has its limitations, it reflects the reality of most battles.
The importance of spiritual pressure to a Shinigami is self-evident.
Lacking a Zanpakutō, Kyōraku Callum dedicated himself to cultivating his spiritual power.
Before entering Shinigami Academy, he'd already achieved the spiritual pressure of a lieutenant-level Shinigami.
The terrifying pressure overwhelmed the northern part of Shinigami Academy, threatening to spread further.
Fortunately, Kyōraku Callum had excellent control.
After a few moments, the spiritual pressure gradually subsided.
Meanwhile, at the 8th Division barracks in the Seireitei…
A middle-aged man lying on the roof let out a long sigh.
"Ah, I was hoping to get some rest during this period!"
"But that kid caused such a commotion. Looks like my vacation's over early."
"Time for a visit to Yama-ji."
With that, the figure vanished, leaving only a faint scent of fine sake.
Simultaneously, in the 5th Division barracks…
Aizen Sousuke, who had been practicing calligraphy, paused, looking towards Shinigami Academy.
"A familiar spiritual pressure fluctuation"
A cryptic smile played on his lips, his gentle demeanor perfectly maintained.
Shortly after, in the 1st Division barracks…
Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni stared at his disciple.
"You say you'll take full responsibility for the spiritual pressure incident?"
His authoritative voice echoed through the barracks.
Kyōraku Shunsui, lamenting his lost vacation, sighed.
"The source of the spiritual pressure is a member of our Kyōraku family."
Thump!
His cane struck the floor, a dull sound.
"I understand. I'll leave it to you."
"I'll order a halt to the investigation."
Back at Dorm 7, Shinigami Academy…
Sensing the receding spiritual pressure, Rukia, startled like a frightened rabbit, quickly pulled away from Kyōraku Callum's embrace.
Her expression was a mixture of confusion and curiosity; the events had far exceeded her comprehension.
More unsettling, however, was the lingering feeling of longing she'd experienced in his arms.
What was that?
She felt bewildered.
Never having experienced anything like this, Rukia found herself at a crossroads.
"Uh,"
Kyōraku Callum struggled to find the right words.
"Actually, it was just an accident."
"A sudden surge of spiritual pressure; there was nothing I could do."
Rukia was speechless. Did anyone's spiritual pressure just randomly break through like that?
"No need to explain"
Rukia, surprisingly understanding, said.
"Everyone has secrets."
"We're just classmates. You don't need to explain anything."
Kyōraku Callum was taken aback. R
ukia's words were unexpected, and they deepened his understanding of her.
Before Shinigami Academy, Rukia had faced many hardships.
These words showed a growing acceptance of him.
Kyōraku Callum composed himself, smiling slightly.
"Thank you for understanding."
Rukia, noticing the shift in atmosphere, quickly changed the subject.
"Your notes…"
Before she could finish, she noticed the drastic change in their surroundings.
The terrifying spiritual pressure had left the room in disarray.
A teacher arrived, somewhat belatedly.
Fortunately, due to Kyōraku Callum's status, the teacher didn't press for details.
However, a new problem arose: Rukia's dorm arrangement.
The teacher frowned, looking back and forth between them.
After a moment, he tentatively suggested:
"Perhaps, Rukia, you could move into Kyōraku Callum's dorm?"
Rukia's face flushed crimson at his suggestion, her cheeks burning.
The teacher was clearly impulsive, misjudging their relationship.
While Kyōraku Callum wanted to agree for Rukia's sake, he also needed to consider her feelings.
"We can consider that later,"
At this, Rukia looked at Kyōraku Callum with surprise.
"Ahem, I mean, we should follow academy regulations."
"One student per dorm; that's standard."
The teacher seemed to hesitate.
"Many students share dorms here."
"If you're interested, I can put in a request for you."
Kyōraku Callum's eyes lit up.
"Really?!"
Bang!
Before the dorm supervisor could respond, Kyōraku Callum felt a solid punch to his chest.
"Idiot!"
Rukia stormed off. Kyōraku Callum saw her crimson ears as she left.
The dorm supervisor looked back and forth between them with an inquisitive gaze.
"Alright, don't worry about it,"
Kyōraku Callum said, gesturing towards the supervisor. "Leave the aftermath to you."
The supervisor, suppressing their curiosity, nodded.
"Leave it to me."
Kyōraku Callum didn't chase after Rukia.
He needed to give her time. He returned to his dorm alone.
