On the martial arts field, Su Li stood calmly across from Zaraki Kenpachi. Kenpachi's face radiated madness and excitement, while Su Li remained composed, expression unreadable.

"Yahahahah... the strongest vice-captain versus the strongest active captain—just imagining it is exciting..." Kyoraku Shunsui leaned lazily on his seat, the lingering scent of sake on his breath.

"Captain, please speak more formally. The strongest captain is obviously the Head-Captain," Ise Nanao said, pinching her nose in visible disgust.

"Hiccup... old man Yama doesn't count... he's the captain of captains... hic..." Kyoraku burped and pulled out another bottle from his robes, taking a long swig. Nanao was speechless. She was used to it.

"The strongest vice-captain versus the strongest captain? Not bad. Makes for a great Seireitei headline," said Tōsen Kaname, tapping his chin. As Ninth Division Captain, he oversaw the Seireitei Communication—Soul Society's official news and literary publication, known for noble gossip, official news, and occasionally, light novels—like Kyoraku's infamous Rose-Colored Path, beloved by nobles and Rukongai alike.

"Rangiku, wanna bet on who wins? If I win, you go on a date with me," Shiba Isshin winked at Rangiku with a smirk.

"Pervert..." Rangiku rolled her eyes. "Fine. But if you lose, never ask again."

"Deal!" Isshin grinned and extended a pinky.

Rangiku lazily hooked it. "Alright, then I pick Su Li."

"I pick Captain Kenpachi!" Isshin declared, his chiseled face radiating righteous confidence. Rangiku gaped. How shameless. No courtesy? Even if Su Li was strong, this was Kenpachi—Soul Society's beast of battle. Other captains might hold back in a test, but not Kenpachi. He'd go all out. And Su Li, despite his talent, was still a vice-captain.

Isshin must've planned this from the start just to get a date.

Rangiku sighed. "Oh well... guess I can't escape this date after all."

Sasakibe stepped forward and announced in a clear voice, "The match rules are simple—no time limit, no restrictions. Battle until one side loses fighting consciousness. This is not a deathmatch, so both sides, exercise caution!"

"Activate the barrier!"

A shimmering golden shield surrounded the arena—a barrier crafted by the former Kidō Corps Captain, capable of withstanding even Bankai-level force.

"When ready, begin."

Sasakibe stepped back behind Yamamoto. The captains and vice-captains leaned forward. The clash between the strongest of this generation and the brightest of the next was about to erupt.

"Sorry, Sasakibe, but I don't do holding back..." Kenpachi grinned as he lifted his blade. Reiatsu exploded outward like a thunderstorm. The pressure was suffocating. Captains furrowed their brows.

Kenpachi pointed his sword at Su Li, wild joy blazing in his eyes.

"This is what I live for!!"

He flashed forward, appearing before Su Li in an instant. No warning, no subtlety—a savage downward strike aimed directly at Su Li's head.

The crowd gasped.

Brute. Direct. Deadly.

Yet Su Li calmly tilted his body. The blade sliced past—exactly one foot from his face.

"Come on, boy!! Let's enjoy this fight!!" Kenpachi roared, slashing again.

Su Li retreated gracefully, barely shifting his weight. The blade missed by exactly one foot.

Kenpachi attacked again.

Su Li spun smoothly, stepping lightly as a petal caught in the breeze.

Again, one foot.

Kenpachi followed like a storm, swing after swing, roaring with joy. Su Li flowed like water, each motion soft but precise.

Every slash missed by precisely the same distance—one foot.

The audience leaned forward. Even Yamamoto opened his ancient eyes.

"What technique is this...?" murmured Byakuya Kuchiki, stunned. He had never witnessed Su Li in battle and was now completely floored.

It wasn't Shunpo. Nor mere dodging. It was art—movement so fluid and controlled, it resembled a dance.

Kenpachi fought like a beast, all bloodlust and instinct. Su Li moved like a phantom singer, each motion agile and poised.

Byakuya, raised in nobility, schooled in poetry and grace, could only describe it in one word—poetry.

Yamamoto watched, silent. Every slash of Kenpachi's was dodged at exactly one foot. Not once. Not twice. But every time.

No variation.

To maintain that exact distance under repeated assault didn't just require inhuman bodily control. It required an even deeper understanding—perfect reading of the opponent's range, angle, and intent.

Doing it once or twice was impressive.

Doing it against Zaraki Kenpachi—whose attacks were wild, fierce, and unpredictable—was terrifying.

Even the calmest of captains now stood from their seats.

"Precise... each dodge is exactly the same... not even a ruler could measure it this cleanly!" Mayuri Kurotsuchi was wide-eyed.

"Goosebumps... I've got goosebumps! My scalp is tingling!" Hisagi Shūhei leaned over the railing, breath caught.

Tōsen turned, annoyed. "Shūhei, explain what's happening!"

But Hisagi was too captivated to respond.

The captains and vice-captains were stunned into silence. There were no words.

If they knew modern slang from Su Li's past life, they would've called it what it truly was—

Top pull.
