Not long after, Gotei 13 returned to Seireitei in full force under the leadership of Captain-Commander Yamamoto. The people of Rukongai greeted them warmly, celebrating yet another victory for the Gotei 13.

In the crowd, Aunt Inoue waved excitedly. "Did you see that?! That's our Su Li!! Vice-Captain of the Second Division!!"

Passersby stared in disbelief.

"Stop joking. Vice-Captain Su Li is your kid?! The youngest vice-captain in history?!"

"Haha, I've seen shameless people, but this takes the cake! Su Li? You think you can ride that high?"

"Exactly! Just bragging. These days, anyone can say anything… Mr. Su Li, I love you though!!"

They laughed it off—until Su Li turned and waved toward them with a dazzling smile.

"Auntie!!"

He called out warmly. The captains beside him glanced at Su Li, then nodded respectfully to Aunt Inoue.

The passersby froze, scalps tingling.

"Who… who said I was lying just now?"

Aunt Inoue crossed her arms, eyes sparkling with pride.

The ones who mocked her bowed their heads immediately. Others came forward, fawning, offering cigarettes, wine, fruit, showering her in hospitality. Aunt Inoue basked in it, completely triumphant.

...

At noon, Central 46 issued an official announcement. The incident was formally defined as a Menos Grande invasion, not a cross-border crisis.

They pledged to compensate the families of the fallen and extended formal condolences. The alert level in Seireitei was raised, and surveillance over Hueco Mundo was increased.

Most notably, all new recruits involved in this operation were officially recognized as having completed their internship period and were promoted to full squad members.

This was excellent news for Su Li.

He immediately submitted his application for the captain's assessment.

Normally, this would go through his direct superior—but with Sui-Feng still unconscious in the General Medical Wing, the submission went straight to the team.

The approval came back swiftly.

His captain's assessment was scheduled for one month later.

Su Li frowned at the delay. He hadn't expected it to take that long… But considering the state of the divisions after the battle—with injuries and losses across the board—it wasn't surprising that evaluations were postponed.

He packed up and returned to training at once.

Even though he'd just battled the Hollowized Xubai, it was no excuse to slack off. That feeling—of being watched, targeted—still clung to him. It was unbearable.

He needed to grow stronger. Strong enough that no scheme, no secret, could touch him.

In the face of absolute power, all tricks were meaningless.

He had to speed up his Ultra Instinct cultivation. At the same time, he needed to build stamina—each activation only lasted minutes. That wouldn't do.

He didn't want to be the man who lasted only a few minutes.

What he wanted was persistence, endurance, and overwhelming strength.

Without pause, Su Li began training again in the courtyard.

...

In the gardens of Rukongai, whether on palace walls or through market streets, only one name was on everyone's lips.

Su Li.

The strongest vice-captain on active duty.

Word of the battlefield had already spread like wildfire. News that Yamamoto himself had acknowledged Su Li's strength had caused a massive stir.

The whole of Soul Society was in awe.

Teahouses, taverns, alleys, and merchant stalls—all were alive with discussion.

Expressions ranged from shock to admiration, from reverence to fanaticism.

Now, everyone knew his name. Even girls who didn't know what Su Li looked like now referred to him as "Brother Su Li," faces glowing with adoration.

Unconsciously, Su Li had risen to the highest ranks of Soul Society's spotlight.

...

Late at night. Fifth Division barracks.

Aizen sat alone at his desk, writing by lantern light. The scroll before him was filled with detailed notes—Su Li's file.

"Ultra Instinct… characteristics… body emits steam… hair develops silver lining…"

"Effect… boosts speed… reactive capacity enhanced…"

"Speed… outpaces Sui-Feng in Shunpo-enhanced state… compared to Xubai… unknown…"

"Destructive power… single punch eliminated Vasto Lorde-class Hollow…"

Aizen stopped writing. His eyes narrowed in thought.

Beside him lay another scroll, densely packed with data and formulas—many recently modified, with fresh ink and crossed-out lines.

Words like "Hōgyoku" and "Reformation" were scribbled along the margins.

He sat motionless, staring at the page. For the first time in years, he found himself unsure.

The intelligence gathered today was too murky. He didn't know what was real and what was deception.

Omaeda's account was unreliable.

Other squad members might lack the observational depth.

Su Li himself? His acting had been too exaggerated.

So what was his goal?

Had he discovered Aizen's hidden agenda?

Impossible.

His operations were flawless, invisible. Even Yamamoto remained unaware. How could a boy possibly pierce through that veil?

No. It couldn't be. Not even Aizen at that age would have managed it.

Only someone like Urahara Kisuke might've had the intelligence—but even Kisuke had been forced out, banished to the World of the Living, silent for seventy years.

There was no way he had passed anything to this boy.

Then what was it?

The more Aizen pondered, the more confused he became. His brows furrowed slightly.

Then, with calm resolve, he picked up his pen and crossed out a line.

The entry that once recorded Su Li's destructive power—obliterated.

In the blank space, Aizen wrote one word:

"Unknown."

He stared at the scratch marks on the scroll. His face was blank. Serene.

Those who achieve greatness must remain emotionless. This was his code.

Yet Su Li's motives eluded him.

Eventually, Aizen decided: the boy's behavior must be due to a strange personality. Unpredictable… not unlike Zaraki.

He rolled up the scroll and walked to the window.

The moonlight bathed the barracks in cold light.

"A pity… That opportunity was wasted…"

"After this, Seireitei will undoubtedly become more alert…"

"It won't be so easy next time…"

He stood still for a long time, staring at the silver moon outside.

Only his breath, slightly heavier than usual, betrayed the weight of his thoughts.
