Chapter 1: A Peek Into The Future
"Where am I?" a young man with dark hair and a handsome appearance muttered to himself, clad in a white night pajamas. He paused, confusion etched on his face.
"Wasn't I just...? How did I end up here?"
Perched atop a dilapidated building, the young man gazed out at the desolate landscape. The city lay in ruins, with buildings reduced to rubble and fires raging intensely at every turn. The streets were littered with the lifeless bodies of people and abandoned cars, some charred beyond recognition, others torn in two or crushed by an unseen force.
Amidst the ruins, military vehicles, tanks, and war aircraft lay devastated, their twisted wreckage a testament to the catastrophic event that had ravaged the city. Some vehicles were overturned, while the bodies of fallen soldiers were strewn about, visible from the young man's vantage point atop the dilapidated building.
As he gazed out at the desolate landscape, the young man's eyes widened in shock and terror. The sky above had turned a blood-red hue, casting an eerie glow over the devastation.
After taking in the horrific scene for what felt like an eternity, the young man turned away, his face etched with a weary expression. He made his way down through the upper stairways, which led to the entrance of the building below.
As he reached the entrance of the building, the young man was met with a gruesome sight. The devastation was even more unsettling up close, and his expression turned anxious.
"The stench of death is even thicker here than it was upstairs," he muttered to himself.
He ventured forward cautiously, taking in the horrific scene before him, more closely. Dead bodies littered the ground, while destroyed vehicles and buildings seemed to bear the scars of some unnatural catastrophe.
"What exactly happened here?" he muttered to himself, his expression bewildered.
"What in the hell could cause such devastation and claim so many lives? Was it a nuclear or atomic bomb?"
As he moved forward, still pondering the unnatural occurrence around him, his eyes suddenly locked onto a figure in the distance. A man sat on the floor, leaning against a car, his body bloodied from head to toe. His left arm appeared to be mangled, and beside him lay a long sword, its blade covered in blood. The man seemed lifeless.
As he drew closer to the figure, he noted to himself that he felt an inexplicable pull towards the man. It was as if he were familiar with him, though he couldn't quite place why.
As he drew closer to the lifeless body, the young man's eyes fixed on the dark hair that cascaded down, casting a shadow over the man's face. Squatting down to the man's level, he gently brushed the hair aside, revealing a sight that sent shockwaves through his entire being. His body trembled, eyes wide with horror, as he jerked his hand back, stumbling backward.
"No, this...this can't be," he stammered, his voice laced with denial.
"How can it be you?" His eyes were fixed on the man's face, his expression a mask of disbelief. He struggled to wrap his mind around the possibility of what he was seeing.
Doubting his own sanity, he cautiously moved closer once more.
"Tell me I'm dreaming, right?" he pleaded, his tone infused with desperation, his heart racing with anticipation. With a shaking hand, he brushed the hair aside once more, praying that he was mistaken, that the lifeless man before him wasn't who he thought it was.
Lifting the hair of the lifeless man, seeing it was truly the person he thought it was, he huged the body of the lifeless man, tears dripping down his chicks, as his face showed utter dispare, his white pajamas stain with the blood of the lifeless man.
"No...!" He screamed out loud his voice full with sorrow, as he continued
"Tell me who did this to you." he cried out, his eyes filled with fury.
As he continued to mourn, his eyes suddenly locked onto the lifeless man's hands, noticing something he was holding onto. His expression transformed from despair to intrigue, and his tears ceased. Releasing his grip on the lifeless body, he reached out with curiosity, his eyes fixed on what the lifeless man grasped. As he took a closer look, he was left stunned and surprised by the unexpected sight.
The lifeless man's hands cradled the decapitated head of a young man, likely in his late 20s. Despite his human appearance, a closer inspection revealed eerie anomalies. His skin was a pale, snowy white, and his teeth were sharper than normal, resembling those of a shark. A peculiar, closed eyelid-like structure adorned his forehead. He looked distinctly different from normal humans, yet shared many similarities. The lifeless man grasped the head by its long, blood-stained white hair, suggesting he had been the one to decapitate it.
"What exactly is going on here?" the young man exclaimed.
"There's no way all this can be real. Something is definitely wrong."
He slowly rose from his squatted position, his face etched with confusion and despair. As he surveyed his surroundings, he struggled to make sense of the strange place.
"One thing is for sure, all this can't be real," he muttered to himself.
Just then, a loud, painful groan pierced the air, coming from someone on the road ahead.
"There's still someone alive here," he thought aloud, his eyes scanning the direction of the sound.
"Maybe they can explain what's truly going on."
He moved away from the lifeless body and followed the sound of painful moans. As he walked, the sound grew louder, and he became increasingly confused. Stopping in his tracks, he glanced around, skepticism and anxiousness etched on his face.
"No, there's no way I could have been hearing someone's painful groans all the way from where I was," he said, his voice laced with doubt.
"It's as if the groans are coming from inside my head, guiding me somewhere. The closer I move towards the direction, the louder and clearer it becomes."
After a moment of contemplation, he continued forward, following the sound of the groans in his head. He soon came across a four-way road axis intersection and paused, trying to decide which direction to take. Turning right, he walked forward, and his eyes widened as he stumbled upon a scene that left him dumbfounded. The painful moans, which had been his only guide until now, had also suddenly fallen silent.
In the middle of the road, a man hung suspended in air, his body impaled by three black, sharp spikes that protruded from the ground. The spikes pierced his body from the front and emerged from his back. The young man approached the massive spikes cautiously, his eyes widening as he took in their enormous size, which seemed to taper as they rose through the unknown man's body.
As he drew closer, standing mere inches away, he gazed at the strange, unknown figure hanging impaled in the air. His face was etched with awe as he struggled to comprehend the scene before him. He slowly extended his hands, carefully placing them on the spike to examine it.
"Strange," he muttered to himself. As he continued to study the massive spike, running his hands over its surface, he pondered aloud, "What kind of power could be capable of such a thing? I wonder if I would be able to withstand such a power."
As he stood lost in thought, a faint cough echoed from above, jolting him back to reality. His gaze jerked upward, and he was met with a bewildering spectacle. The man impaled by the spikes was, against all odds, still alive. He exhibited faint signs of movement, and low, almost inaudible moans escaped his lips.
The young man's eyes widened in marvel as he struggled to comprehend how someone could survive such a gruesome fate. He raised his hands, snapping his fingers, but after a brief, awkward silence, nothing happened. Confusion etched his face as he glanced around, sensing that something was amiss.
"What's going on here?" he exclaimed, his voice laced with anxiety. He tried again, snapping his fingers and attempting various hand motions, but to no avail.
"I can't use my powers ."
As he continued to try and summon his abilities, a low, struggling voice cut through the air.
"It...won't...work."
The young man's surprised gaze snapped upward, and he saw the stranger laboriously lifting his head, their eyes locking in a moment that left the younger man stunned and speechless. He stumbled backward, his face a picture of bewilderment.
Before him lay a man who was his exact duplicate, yet slightly more mature and older. The young man's mind reeled as he struggled to comprehend the impossible sight. The other man, with a slow and laborious effort, raised his hand, pointing toward a direction behind the young man.
Still reeling from the shock, the young man followed the direction of the pointing hand, slowly turning around. And that's when he stumbled upon another terrifying scene that made his eyes widen even further in sheer terror and fear.
As he turned, the air behind him seemed to slowly rip apart, like a void crack spreading across the sky. From the fissure emerged a colossal creature of unimaginable horror, its gargantuan form towering over the surrounding buildings. The monster's twisted body was a grotesque amalgamation of reptilian and humanoid features, its massive, scaly skin a rough, weathered greyish-white hue, reminiscent of worn stone or faded bone. Six razor-sharp horns protruded from its forehead, while its eyes blazed with an otherworldly fury that seemed to pierce the very soul. Tiny, almost imperceptible wings were etched into its legs, and a larger, yet still relatively small, pair of wings protruded from its hip area, near the base of its spine, casting an aura of ominous, malevolent power.
The young man instinctively recoiled, his eyes fixed on the creature in horror, as he struggled to comprehend the sheer scale of the terror before him. The behemoth's loud roar sent shockwaves through the air, annihilating the surrounding area and leaving destruction in its wake. The young man's eyes were wide with awe as he beheld the creature's unfathomable power.
"Wh...what is that?" he stuttered, his voice barely audible as he trembled with fear. He was unable to stand upright, his legs shaking beneath him, his teeth clenching tight, as he slowly turned to face the other man, who bore an uncanny resemblance to him.
"Domain... invaders..." the other man whispered, his words strained and labored. He gazed at the young man with eyes that seemed almost lifeless, a faint, enigmatic smile flickering across his lips.
