Chapter 7
“Where the hell do you think you’re going, you little shit?!”
“Ugiik!”
Pain and fury crash over me.
What the hell did I do wrong to be fighting these demon bastards in a place like this? All I feel is rage in this ridiculous situation.
Thus, the true power freed by anger!
“Manhae!”
—Crack!
I grabbed the Soseongui biting into my shoulder and yanked it roughly.
—Thud!
No damn it, my precious historical drama extra outfit!
“It’s tearing…!”
This crazy world just keeps making me angrier!
“Ushiik!”
I gripped harder. The tiny Soseongui couldn’t withstand my strength and flailed helplessly in my grasp. Holding it up, I prepared to unleash my full power!
“DIE!”
I slammed it into the ground!
—Thud!
“Kwiik?!”
The Soseongui, embedded in the floor, shrieked in agony as it writhed. But it couldn’t escape, probably hurt too much from broken bones and organs.
It looked miserable, but I won’t show mercy.
I mean, did you ever see Inuyasha spare a demon?
I grabbed the Soseongui’s tail. These guys have surprisingly long tails for their size; to me, it’s a ridiculous weakness.
If I have you by the tail, you can’t do a damn thing!
“Okay! Bamboo helicopter!”
—Whir whir!
I swung the tail around like a mace, giving the little bastard a horrifying experience. As I spun it, the flames in its eyes left a fiery afterimage tracing a circle.
It’s like a deranged game of mice chase…!
I can enjoy a traditional game of my people in the Martial Arts World!
If you want to enjoy this privilege, sign up in the Martial Arts World right now!
“Kiik!”
While spinning the poor Soseongui like a madman, I summoned my full strength one more time and smashed it down like a mace.
—Thud!
The sound of impact echoed as its body spread along the ground. It was a gruesome sight with blood splattering everywhere, but…
“Finish it off!”
Am I going to let anyone else off the hook?
—Crack, crack, crack!
I stomped mercilessly on the flattened Soseongui, putting an end to it.
Honestly, it felt a bit unpleasant, like I was cruelly killing a small animal, but this was a demon. I was simply doing what was necessary, not doing anything strange.
“Hoo!”
And just like that, I claimed victory.
At some point, the flames in the Soseongui’s eyes went out. Looks like when you die, the fire goes out.
“Kuhah…!”
Joy.
I felt overwhelming joy.
Yes…!
I have won this life-and-death battle!
And not just against some random opponent but an incredibly powerful demon!
“KRAAAAAAAAH!”
The reward is 200 coins and my survival in this Martial Arts World!
With that feeling, how can I not roar?
“I WON!!!”
It felt like my adrenaline was about to burst.
Have I ever felt such intense joy before? Probably not. I hadn’t experienced such a strong moment in my mostly colorless life.
“Are you watching, Aunt? I did it!”
I imagined my aunt’s face against the dark sky.
She glanced at me with her usual blank expression before turning away. That’s her charm, I guess. I’ll admit, she is a cool beauty.
“Hoo.”
Anyway, that’s that.
This turned out to be simpler than I thought—
—Whoosh!
“That can’t be!”
—Swish.
From the darkness, several blue will-o’-the-wisps appeared. If they were real will-o’-the-wisps, they would light up one by one, but these were lit two at a time.
“Ushishik.”
“Shishishik.”
Just judging by the noise, about ten Soseongui slowly approached, revealing themselves threateningly.
“Ten against one.”
Not good.
But.
“Bring it on!”
If I lose my momentum, I’ll lose the fight.
With a loud shout, I provoked them.
“Ushiiik!”
“Ushishishishik!”
The Soseongui swarmed me like a pack, jumping at me.
“You little bastards, how dare you gang up on me?!”
And thus, my insane brawl with the Soseongui crew began.
—Pow!
Numerous Soseongui executed a jumping charge, clawing and trying to bite me. I dodged their lethal attacks by twisting my body and rolled on the ground to escape.
But each time I failed to dodge—
—Tear!
The threads of my clothes ripped apart.
“My clothes…!”
This battle.
Will I really win?
The thought of running away crept into my mind. But if I flee now, I won’t gain anything.
No, it’s worse than that. If I don’t get anything, I might starve tomorrow.
“These filthy little shits really are annoying!”
I can’t let myself go hungry!
“POWER STRIKE!”
I swung my mace and smashed a Soseongui’s head as it charged at me.
“Grawk!”
Then I swung my fist horizontally, sending another Soseongui flying.
—Thud!
Continuing in that state, I spun my mace wildly to keep them at bay while unleashing my Taekwondo 3rd Degree skills to perform a spinning kick.
“Kwaaaaack!”
One of the flying Soseongui took another hit and flew away!
“KRAAAA!”
I roared, intimidating the rest of the Soseongui.
“Ushiiik!”
“Ushishik!”
My fighting spirit soared, but at the same time, the Soseongui charged at me relentlessly.
I must win.
With the determination of a knight facing a hunter, I swung my mace again, thinking only of victory.
—Slip!
“Huh?!”
My mace slipped from my hands!
An unintended gust of wind!
No!
“Ushishisik!”
Thanks to that, the Soseongui became even more riled up, screaming at me.
These little bastards… they know what it means that I’ve lost my weapon!
But who says I can’t fight without one?
“GUAAAAAAAH!”
I rolled and grabbed one of their tails.
“GOTCHA!”
“Ushik?!”
“You’re done for, you little shit!”
With the captured demon, I spinned around.
“YAAAAAH!”
—Whir whir!
Gaining powerful rotation as I swung the captured Soseongui like a mace…
—Thud!
I struck another Soseongui!
“Ushisik…!”
The hit Soseongui rolled on the floor, thrashing. I immediately stomped down on its waist, breaking its bones.
“AAAH!”
While screeching, I continued swinging my Soseongui mace at the others, bashing them mercilessly.
War.
Never-ending war!
How many have I taken down? It feels like I’m fighting a pack of yowling demons alone in the dead of night. Is there any honor at the end of this foolish battle?
“Huh, huh!”
There is honor!
“Come at me, you little shits!”
Raising my fighting spirit, I shouted. Once you start a brawl, you have to see it through till the end. If I show weakness, that’s when I’m as good as dead.
Even if it’s just bravado!
“Come at me!!!”
If I’m a threat, I must do anything!
The Soseongui I held was already long dead. I lifted it high above my head with both hands and slammed it down with a knee kick, shattering its body.
“KIEEAAA!!!”
When I was a kid, I dreamed of being the vocalist for a death metal band. But I had to give that dream up because of my aunt’s disdainful gaze and our financial situation… but now I’m free from those constraints.
I unleashed my practiced screaming while kneeing down on the poor thing.
And then something unexpected happened.
“Ushiiik…!”
“Ushik…!”
The remaining Soseongui started to back away from me, hesitating cautiously!
—Pow!
The retreating Soseongui fled into the darkness!
“You little shits…!”
You really had to run away in the end!
—Rustle.
The moment I confirmed that the Soseongui had entirely disappeared, a sigh of relief escaped, and rushes of victory filled me with joy.
“I WON!!!”
I really thought I was gonna get wrecked here!
My heart was racing like crazy, and heavy breaths flowed out. I won. Most importantly, I survived. I beat demons in the Martial Arts World and lived to tell the tale!
“Hoo!”
I actually won!
After going on a rampage against a horde of Soseongui, I now had chased off the survivors with sheer guts.
Exhausted, I plopped down on the spot.
“Krh…!”
My clothes were all torn, but the rewards must be sweet.
I almost feel like I could faint from how tough it was, but just thinking about what to do with the money I earned makes me chuckle.
While it’s not wise to waste newfound cash, I’ll need to eat some expensive food to manage my stress in this insane Martial Arts World, right? If I don’t, my psyche might just collapse.
“Gongbo Estate!”
I want Gongbo Estate!
To put it simply, it’s a dish akin to chicken stir-fry, fried chicken mixed with vegetables and nuts, seasoned, and stir-fried.
After fighting my way through, I have to treat myself to this!
I’ve wanted it so badly!
Ah… I’m drooling just thinking about it.
“Ah.”
Anyway.
With this, the battle of the night has come to an end.
But I feel so drained after the intense fight. I need to take a break. If I let my guard down, I could pass out for sure.
So, I stood up.
“Hmm.”
Looking around, I noticed the Soseongui bodies scattered everywhere. None of them were in one piece. They were all shattered, spread out, and soaked in blood.
It makes me realize just how bravely I fought.
“I had that kind of potential.”
Thinking back, I had faced many battles against people and won, so why would these pathetic little bastards think they could beat me?
Now let’s clean up.
Since I’m getting paid to work, I can’t leave the place in such a mess.
So, I dragged the corpses of the Soseongui, preparing to clean up. I rubbed dirt on the blood-stained ground to erase the evidence.
“Let’s see. Eight of them dead, huh?”
I kept count at first, but midway I fell into a frenzy and just kept killing. Realizing things, it turns out I had taken down more than I thought.
“…”
So many demons have died.
I thought demons would be some mystical being, but it seems that’s not the case.
These little bastards have skulls and spit fire, which is kind of mystical, but other than that, they’re just flesh, bones, and blood.
Killable beings.
Ah.
Then can I eat them?
Because of my hunger, the thought crossed my mind. Looking at their meat and hides, wouldn’t I be able to grill or boil them?
Since they’re a decent size, they should yield a good amount.
But the important question is whether demon meat is safe to eat.
—Flare!
Should I try experimenting?
I mean, I have a torch and all.
“Forget it, fucking no.”
But I gave up. If there’s poison, I could die. I can’t just cook them without knowing. I’ll just ask someone next time. Though it’s a shame to waste the meat, weighing the thought of 200 coins makes it all worthwhile.
“Hehehe.”
After finishing up the cleanup, I dragged my weary body into the warehouse and flopped down.
Let’s get some rest.
The air is a bit stale, but the roof is a blessing.
As I succumbed to the thrill of victory, I closed my eyes.
