Chapter 28: 19."The Heart That Learns To Love"
Location: Magic Knight Southern Training Grounds – Sunrise
---
We can see grim in the magic knight training ground.
Sister Teresa's Wisdom – Lessons Beyond Magic
Grim stood atop a grassy cliff overlooking the wide plains below. His hair glimmered gold in the soft dawn light, his blood-red eyes locked onto the rising sun.
Behind him, Sister Teresa approached slowly. Her presence was gentle yet unshakable, like a motherly breeze that carried weight beyond words.
"You always look at the sun like you want to challenge it," she said softly.
Grim didn't answer. His smile was faint, but not empty. Not anymore.
"Come. Sit."
They sat on the edge of the cliff. Birds chirped softly in the background. Grim didn't speak. He rarely did around her.
She didn't need him to.
"Grim," she began gently, "Magic isn't the only thing we shape. Our hearts, too, must be trained."
He remained quiet.
"You carry so much pain," she continued. "I see it in the way you smile when no one's looking. It's not fake anymore, but it still hides something."
"I've let go of it," Grim said quietly.
"No," she said with a small, sad smile. "You've buried it. There's a difference."
He flinched.
"You think if you ignore the pain, it'll go away. But pain is like mana—it flows in every part of you. If you don't understand it, it will control you."
Grim looked down.
She reached out and gently took his hand. "You deserve to be loved, Grim. Not because you're powerful. Not because you're chosen. But because you are you."
Grim blinked. His throat tightened.
"No one ever told me that," he whispered.
She smiled. "Now someone has."
A gust of wind brushed past. For the first time, Grim's eyes shimmered not with mana—but with tears.

The Bond That Grows – Grim and Noelle
Later that day, in the Royal Capital garden…
Grim and Noelle stood near a lily-filled pond. Noelle had her arms crossed, clearly annoyed.
"You're such an idiot," she muttered.
"And yet, you still follow me everywhere," Grim teased, tossing a small mana-infused stone into the water. It bounced across in glowing ripples.
"I don't follow you! I was already coming here!"
"Sure, sure," he grinned.
She looked away quickly, her face red.
Still, when she turned back, she caught him smiling—not teasing, not proud. Just…warm.
"You've changed," she said quietly.
He nodded. "Trying to. I'm tired of being a prisoner of myself."
She smiled faintly.
Then Nozel appeared.
"Grim." His voice was firm.
Grim stood up straight, eyes steady.
"You and my sister. I don't know what this is, but—"
"It's none of your business, brother!" Noelle shouted.
"It is my business when you're smiling around him like that."
Noelle turned crimson.
Grim chuckled. "Don't worry, Captain. I'd never hurt her. She'd probably stab me first."
"She would," Nozel said dryly.

Nebra – Cracks in the Mirror
Watching from the shadows was Nebra.
She clutched a fan in her hands, gripping it so tight it trembled.
"Noelle…"
Her eyes locked onto her younger sister, standing so closely beside Grim. Laughing. Bonding.
Nebra turned away. Her chest burned.
"Why does it hurt?"
She gritted her teeth.
"I saw him first."
Her mana spiked briefly, twisting the petals of a rose nearby.
"Noelle… if you try to take him from me, I won't forgive you."
A soft voice in her head whispered: "Make him yours… no matter what."
She shut her eyes and forced a smile. "This isn't over."
