Chapter 18: 18. Ki
(Guys, The Goal of 70 Powerstones is almost done too, The Bonus chapter will be coming in a few hours
Whether this fic will continue or not will depend on the support I am getting which is decided by the number of Powerstones this fic receives or the number of Patreon members)
(Now, let's talk about some things I need to address, I have said this last week only, but I can't maintain the intensity of 7ch/week and I had decreased that to 6(not 5 directly), now from this week onwards, Unfortunately that also has to be decreased to 5, such that Monday and Friday would be off.
Though this doesn't contain the bonus chapters, if we do get more PS and achieve the goals I set, you will get a bonus chapter as you have seen so far, I have one question to ask you, will you prefer the bonus chapter on the same day such that you get double release or do you prefer it to either Monday or Friday? The latter would get the novel more views, but it's not that significant, so I would leave the decision to you guys.
Last thing, before you guys dive into the chapter if you haven't already lol, I would like to thank Vengeful_Slave for his suggestions and proactivity in the comments, as it really brings me a smile to my face, when somebody enjoys the book so much that they are ready to make it grow.
So on his suggestion, I have decided that before Wednesday(15 January 8:30 am GMT), if we get a total of 10 reviews(not more than one by one person allowed), you guys would get a bonus chapter)
Akeru was speechless for a second.
'Right, I forgot that Yami was shameless too.' Akeru brought out his money bag from his big bag.
"From where did you get this money from?" Yami curiously asked.
The bag might not be much for a noble, but it was considerable for a commoner kid.
"I stole it, duh," Akeru shamelessly said.
Yami paused a bit at the blunt reply.
"Unfortunately, I have to confiscate that." Yami grabbed the pouch, but Akeru didn't let it go.
Despite not properly learning the lying feature of Ki sensing, he could tell that Yami was lying.
"You are gonna take that all for yourself, no?" Akeru looked at the shameless captain.
"Is that a problem? I am technically from the government, and you probably forgot who you stole from, so it's better to go to me."
Akeru was speechless at his logic and let go of the pouch. He was not really that worried about the money.
"Do you also see red and blue lines when sensing Ki?" Akeru suddenly asked.
He didn't remember this being told in Canon.
"No. Everyone has a slightly different way of sensing Ki. Generally, there's a balance between instincts and prediction. However, some people lean towards one side or the other. Mine is on instincts," Yami replied while making the money bag disappear from Akeru's sight.
"Oh, I think I kind of understand. I could instinctively tell if one person is lying or not while looking at their other signs or Ki, technically," Akeru suddenly said, making Yami nod.
"Yeah, you probably have that on instinct. Anyway, from which country are you from?" Yami suddenly asked.
"Clover Kingdom, duh."
"Ehh, are you not a spy?"
"No! Wait, did you help me while misunderstanding me as a spy?" Akeru asked in shock.
"Ahem, you wouldn't have escaped anyway with me here. Plus, I took money, no?"
"..."
"Wait, so did you get mistaken for being a spy while pickpocketing, then fighting with magic knights?" Yami felt like he understood the scene.
"It seems so. I just knocked the Purple Orca knight during the time, trained for two months, then wanted to train some more, so I tried to fight two Silver Eagles. But they easily got knocked out—heck, they didn't even see my face," Akeru shook his head.
"Then, I fought with that Green Mantis—whatever the name of the squad's guy—I almost got defeated but was able to partially awaken Ki sensing somehow in the morning, and here we are." Akeru gave him a brief account.
"Ki sensing is not awakened for no reason. You need to have some level of instincts at least. Do you normally train in forests?" Yami curiously asked.
"Yeah. Heck, I had even spent three years in a Grand Magic Zone before starting pickpocketing."
"Hmm, makes sense," Yami said while taking another drag out of his cigarette.
"Right, I forgot to mention, you still have to pay 5000 Yuls. The money I took from you is state money," Yami suddenly said.
Akeru seemed to have a gaze saying, 'Are you serious?'
"Seeing that you are a kid, I would cut it from your salary in the future." Yami suddenly took out a black cape with a bull symbol on it and threw it to Akeru, who subconsciously caught it.
"Wait, I don't even have a grimoire yet. Also, be honest, you just wanted to poach me into your squad with this move, no?" Akeru suddenly asked.
"I see no problem with you not having a grimoire yet. You defeated an intermediate-level magic knight without it."
"Wait, that guy was an intermediate-level magic knight?"
"A weak one."
"I see." Akeru unknowingly felt his ego growing.
"Ouch, what was that for?" Akeru was hit by Yami on the head.
He saw the red line, but it got darker very quickly.
"You better be at least as strong as a captain when you get a grimoire," Yami said.
"I will try," Akeru said. 'Well, even if I got technically blackmailed into joining the Black Bulls, I would have joined this squad anyway. Due to my commoner status, there would be a lot of young masters waiting to prove themselves in other squads.'
"Well, cya." With that, the macho captain disappeared like he never existed.
'Well, that was an experience.' Akeru thought while leaving the area.
'I need to first get used to seeing things in Ki sense only.'
For the next few days, Akeru got used to seeing the world in red and blue. It was quite uncomfortable at first, but after some time, he got used to it.
It was similar to putting on glasses for the first time.
Akeru looked at a rock, and multiple blue lines could be seen on it.
He deduced the best one and attacked with a normal mana-enhanced kick at that spot.
Bam
The rock crumbled instantly.
'Woah, now that's neat,' he thought while looking at a giant pig charging at him.
He saw only one large red line, which was the size of the pig itself, and countless blue lines on the pig.
He sent a Waterball, which took a curved trajectory and hit the pig in the underside of its belly, and shockingly, it died there in one shot.
'It died of internal damage. Damn, Ki sensing is something.' Akeru was amazed at this.
He started cooking the pig while recalling the fight with Kaiser.
In his mind, throughout the battle, he could see countless red and blue lines appearing and disappearing continuously.
He took it a step further and decided to change his decision by taking a different blue line.
To his surprise, the red lines aimed at him changed too. It was like he was actually fighting with Kaiser in person.
'As expected, I could simulate past battles while using different attacks to get different results as I have analyzed their fighting style. However, it depends on the amount of data I have gathered about that person.'
He changed his opponent and thought of Yami.
This time, in his mind, even before he acted on a blue light, they started changing along with the red lights.
'Right, Captain can also use Ki, so he could predict my predictions and change accordingly. Our battle in time would be like chess if I am on the same level as him. And even if we don't count him, I bet most people as I climb the ladder would have some form of prediction of which attack I would use due to their instincts. It would limit my moves.'
He changed his opponents to some more magic knights and animals he had encountered before.
'This requires too much mental focus. I could feel my energy decreasing.' He quickly devoured the pig.

"I found the spy," a gruff voice said, with a bulky figure coming into view on the other side of the hologram.
"Did you capture him?" Marx asked.
"No," Yami replied, taking another drag of his cigarette.
"Did he manage to escape you?" Marx asked in shock.
His rating of the spy kept rising in his mind, as escaping a captain was no small feat.
"What type of magic does that person use?" Julius came into view on the hologram, stars gleaming in his eyes.
"Hmm, from what I could see, it's mostly mana augments along with basic water manipulation. But I have a feeling water is not his innate magic element," Yami said.
"Wait, how did he escape you then? Or did you let him go willingly?" Marx asked, baffled.
"Calm down, mushroom-head. He actually wasn't a spy; he got mistaken for one while he was pickpocketing."
"..."
"He's just a kid who's not even old enough to have a grimoire," Yami continued.
"Wait, what?" Marx asked, surprised.
"We need to recruit talent like that," Julius said, stroking his chin.
"I already did. Even got some money out of it," Yami laughed.
Marx didn't say anything about him taking money from a kid.
He felt like he'd be walking into a trap if he asked.
"Wait, so a kid, even without a grimoire, took out an intermediate-level knight?" Marx asked.
He could believe a kid defeating a junior-level knight—it wasn't unheard of, just rare.
But this? This was the next level.
The gap between a junior-level magic knight and an intermediate-level magic knight wasn't a small one.
'I wonder what kind of magic he'll have when he gets a grimoire,' Julius thought, gazing out the window.
