Chapter 27: The Notebook's Prophecy
The notebook now seemed very eager to help Li Mo, the words appearing extremely quickly.
[My name is Li Mo. When you read this, I am dying, and also about to be reborn.]
[It's now 7:03 PM. All the bizarre entities in the academy have revived.]
[There have been casualties in the auditorium. Shigure Kira is burning through her blood and Honkai energy to stop the head ghosts' advance, but it's a futile effort.]
[The second grave incense stick was devoured by a child possessed by a head ghost and has completely extinguished.]
[Everyone is now fighting for space inside the black coffin, pushing and squeezing each other. The auditorium has descended into chaos.]
[My body is also being constantly eroded by the bizarre entities. Even with the black coffin ghost clothes, I will die from the bizarre erosion.]
[Without the suppression of the grave incense, all the ghosts in the academy are no longer dormant.]
[At 7:12 PM tonight, everyone who hasn't entered the black coffin will die.]
[I'm starting to frantically use the power of the bizarre to fight against the head ghosts targeting me. Slowly, my heart stops beating... my blood completely dries up... my shell transforms into a withered and stiff corpse, covered in corpse spots, and crawling with maggots...]
[At 7:31 PM tomorrow night, I die.]
"I want to see how to survive, not waste time," Li Mo said, clenching the notebook, a faint impulse to tear it to shreds rising within him.
However, he did glean one piece of information: in his current state, fully using his bizarre power to fight the head ghosts, he could last for a day.
That was the limit of Li Mo's current state.
[My name is Li Mo. When you read this, I have successfully survived.]
"Huh?"
The first sentence had changed. This meant the notebook had found a way out.
Li Mo stared intently at the blood-red words appearing on the notebook's cover page.
[At 7:05 PM, the St. Freya bizarre entities revive, a night parade of a hundred ghosts, the head ghost horde moves towards the auditorium.]
[At 7:07 PM, I take off the black coffin ghost garment, attracting all the head ghosts to me.]
[At 7:09 PM, I clench the coin in my hand, only exposing a corner of it to the head ghosts' sight. Triggering the bizarre law on the coin, the head ghosts no longer target my head, instead gnawing at the hand holding the coin. But my hand keeps healing; the head ghosts cannot consume all my flesh, creating a dynamic equilibrium.]
[At 7:11 PM, the bizarre law on the coin completely disappears, and the head ghosts set their sights back on my head.]
[At 7:11 PM, I use the "she" behind me to continuously "kill" the head ghosts in the hallway. They are broken down into tiny blood clots. Although they aren't dead, they cannot revive themselves for a short period of time.]
[At 7:30 PM, I begin to conduct the third day's ritual.]
[At 7:31 PM, the third day's ritual is successfully completed. Almost all bizarre entities in the academy fall dormant.]
[My name is Li Mo. At 7:00 AM tomorrow, I have survived.]
Li Mo closed the notebook, having made his assessment.
The notebook's plan was feasible but contained a more terrifying trap.
Like "she".
"Start immediately."
Time was of the essence. Without hesitation, Li Mo removed his clothes. His toned upper body was covered in gruesome corpse spots, a foul stench rising from it.
Especially the spine on his back, like a tentacle bursting out, pulling the head above his neck, wanting to twist and rotate it.
After Li Mo shot his spine with a bullet, it calmed down significantly.
There were many headless corpses in the school building. The head ghosts would attack them first.
But the Valkyrie husks in the auditorium were more attractive, which allowed Li Mo to remain safe in the school building.
And after taking off the black coffin ghost garment, the bizarre entities viewed Li Mo's near-perfect body as a prime target, causing all the head ghosts to shift their focus.
Inside the auditorium, Shigure Kira, exhausted, was half-squatting in front of the black coffin, breathing heavily.
She had little Honkai energy left, but the heads seemed to spawn endlessly, filling every corner of the auditorium.
Those who could squeeze into the black coffin had already done so, leaving only a few people helplessly trapped in place, awaiting death.
"It's over… if only I had been more decisive, I wouldn't have gotten you killed," Shigure Kira said with remorse.
She dropped her greatsword, her fair cheeks smeared with blood.
Without the suppression of the grave incense, the heads invaded the auditorium, eating many people, and then targeting the defenseless Shigure Kira.
Overdrawing her Honkai energy to forcefully push back the heads had left Shigure Kira unable to even stand.
She suddenly felt a pang of nostalgia, though she didn't know for what.
Until all the heads, regardless of age or gender, rotated halfway around.
Without warning, they burst out of the auditorium, jumping towards the school building.
Shigure Kira stared in disbelief at the scene.
A figure slowly surfaced in her mind, resolving Shigure Kira's confusion.
He never disappoints.
Shigure Kira couldn't help but offer a relieved smile, her taut nerves finally relaxing.
"Thanks...even though I always say you're gloomy, you're as reliable as ever," Shigure Kira said weakly, leaning against the black coffin, gently closing her eyes.
"The last time I felt like this was with Lady Cecilia…"
Strange purple patterns spread across her crimson neck, where there was a visible bite wound. Warm blood gurgled from the wound, flowing down her arm to the ground.
"Goodbye..."
The owner of the wound had already fainted. The blood loss was causing her body to become colder, even though she was a Valkyrie.
She was, in the end, only human, unlike an anomaly like Li Mo.
In the school building, hundreds and thousands of heads crammed the hallways, rolling and bouncing, causing the entire building to tremble slightly.
"Hehehe! You're definitely dead this time! You're definitely dead this time!"
The broadcast voice in his mind started playing music again, seemingly thinking that Li Mo couldn't possibly survive this time.
Li Mo wasn't sure what method the bizarre entity in his mind used for its calculations, but so far, it wasn't accurate.
In fact, it was almost like a death flag; whenever it opened its mouth, he always managed to turn the situation around.
So, it seemed that although its words were unpleasant, it actually had a good effect?
"Thank you for your kind words. Every time you remain silent, I fall into a deadly trap; and every time you curse me, I always manage to survive."
"Say a few more words, I'm all ears."
"Keep going, will you?"
Li Mo taunted, his face expressionless, practically wearing his mockery on his sleeve.
"..."
Unexpectedly, the broadcast voice in his mind fell silent.
Li Mo said coldly, "It seems you have self-awareness, but you've already said once that I would die, so this time I'm confident I'll survive."
With that said, Li Mo looked up, facing the incoming, bloody heads.
After repeated bouncing, the heads were completely devoid of facial flesh. The white skull and eye sockets were exposed.
Brain matter and blood covered every part of their heads. The entire skull was compressed, deformed, completely turning them into something grotesque and unnatural.
