Big Shot Little Jiaojiao Breaks Her Persona Again

Chapter 78 - Don't Cry When You Fall

Chapter 78: Don’t Cry When You Fall

The smile on the young lady’s face was the same as the first time she saw him.

It was like a soldering iron that was deeply engraved in Quan Jue’s soul. One that could never be erased.

Quan Jue slammed the window shut.

He could hear the cage in his heart collapse. That trapped beast had come out.

Initially, he thought that she had already left. He didn’t expect her to still smile so brightly at him after he had gone so overboard with his words.

“Jiaojiao, this is your choice.” A low voice escaped from his thin lips, and a look of determination flashed across the youngster’s dark eyes. He turned around and walked out of the kitchen speedily.

Standing under the streetlamp, Chi Jiao’s lips curled downwards when the kitchen window was slammed shut.

She was still worried about Quan Jue and wanted to know what was wrong with his leg. After hesitating for a moment, she decided to look for him.

She was already here. Based on Chi Jiao’s personality, she would naturally not leave.

Therefore, she firmly decided to look for Quan Jue.

Chi Jiao had just taken two steps when she heard hurried footsteps coming from the building not far away.

Immediately after, a familiar figure entered her line of sight.

When she saw Quan Jue, Chi Jiao couldn’t believe her eyes and stood rooted to the ground.

Quan Jue held a black coat in his hand as he walked briskly to Chi Jiao. He quickly wrapped the coat around her and reached out to brush the snow off her head. “Are you stupid? It’s snowing. Why are you still standing here?”

Chi Jiao could tell that his usually cold tone was laced with anger. She looked up at him and said, “This is the first snow in winter. I wanted to enjoy it.”

Being stared at by the girl with such focused eyes, Quan Jue’s handsome face quietly turned red. He turned around and said, “Enjoy it here, then.”

“But it’s too cold. Can I go upstairs and sit for a while?” Chi Jiao asked softly as she caught up with his footsteps.

“Up to you.” Quan Jue’s voice was originally cold and low, but it now had a hint of indolence and casualness.

Chi Jiao pursed her lips and smiled. She didn’t know why Quan Jue’s attitude toward her had changed all of a sudden, but she liked this change very much.

This building was considered an old estate. There were no lights in the stairwell, and it was very dark.

Quan Jue took out his phone and switched on the light.

Chi Jiao followed the weak light and examined the shabby surroundings. Suddenly, a fair hand reached out to her.

“Don’t cry when you fall.”

Chi Jiao didn’t notice the unnaturalness in Quan Jue’s tone as she smiled and placed her petite hand in his.

The young man’s fingers were distinct and cold.

However, his broad palm happened to be able to wrap around her hand.

As she let Quan Jue pull her up the stairs, Chi Jiao could clearly hear her heartbeat accelerate.

Quan Jue’s rented apartment was on the third floor. The environment was older, but it was cleaned up very well and the floor was spotless.

When Chi Jiao entered, ready to change her shoes, Quan Jue said indifferently, “You don’t have to change your shoes. I don’t have any female slippers here.”

Chi Jiao looked at the simplistic shoe rack. There were only a few pairs of casual shoes on it. They were all Quan Jue’s.

From the looks of it, Quan Jue lived here alone.

He got Chi Jiao to take off her jacket and she sat on the sofa while Quan Jue went to the kitchen.

Shortly after, he brought out a cup of warm milk and handed it to her.

As Chi Jiao held it, her originally cold hands finally felt a little warm.
