Chapter 24: Episode 24: Guardians of Time
"We have sensed the disturbance in the timeline," it said. "And we have come to restore order."
Ben stepped forward, his Ultimatrix activated, his hand trembling slightly. "Who are you?" he demanded.
The being paused, its energy form swirling and coalescing into a more defined shape. "We are the Timewalkers," it said. "And we are the guardians of time. We have arrived to cleanse this dimension of the temporal anomaly."
The Timewalker raised a hand, and the entire Celestial Clockwork began to glow and hum with cosmic energy. Then, it spoke again, with an authority that seemed to command the very universe: "The Tennyson, you have touched forces beyond your comprehension. Surrender the source of the anomaly and we may spare this planet."
Ben glared at the Timewalker, his fear giving way to defiance. "I don't know what you're talking about! I was just trying to stop Albedo from destroying everything!"
"Lies!" the Timewalker boomed, its energy form flickering with anger. "You merged the Omnitrix shard with the Ultimatrix, creating a nexus of temporal energy that threatens the stability of the entire multiverse. That power must be contained, or destroyed."
Gwen stepped forward, her mana glowing brightly. "Ben didn't do anything wrong! He was trying to save us! And who are you to decide the fate of our universe?"
The Timewalker turned its attention to Gwen, its gaze piercing and cold. "You are a mere mortal, insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Do not presume to question our authority."
Kevin snarled, his skin hardening into steel. "Stay away from her!" He charged at the Timewalker, his fists clenched, ready to fight.
The Timewalker effortlessly swatted Kevin aside with a wave of energy, sending him crashing into a pile of debris. Ben gasped, his anger reaching a boiling point.
"You're not guardians," Ben said, his voice trembling with rage. "You're bullies! You're just trying to take our power!"
He slammed his hand down on the Ultimatrix, cycling through his alien forms. He needed something powerful, something that could stand up to this cosmic being. But nothing seemed adequate. Diamondhead? Ulitmate Humungousaur? None of them were a match for a Timewalker.
"So be it," the Timewalker said, its voice dripping with disappointment. "If you will not surrender the anomaly willingly, we will take it by force."
The Timewalker unleashed a wave of temporal energy, targeting Ben directly. He braced himself for the impact, but instead of pain, he felt a strange sensation, a blurring of his senses, a distortion of time itself.
He looked around in confusion. The Celestial Clockwork was gone, replaced by a swirling vortex of colors and shapes. Gwen and Kevin were nowhere to be seen. He was alone, adrift in a sea of temporal energy.
"Where am I?" Ben shouted, his voice echoing through the vortex.
"You are in the Timestream, Tennyson," the Timewalker's voice echoed back, disembodied and omnipresent. "A place between moments, where time flows in every direction at once. Here, we control everything."
"What do you want from me?" Ben demanded.
"We want the Ultimatrix," the Timewalker replied. "And the Omnitrix shard. They are too dangerous to be wielded by mortals. We will take them, and then we will erase you from existence, ensuring that you can never threaten the timeline again."
Ben's heart sank. He was trapped, powerless, at the mercy of these cosmic beings. He had to find a way out, a way to protect his friends and family, a way to save the universe from the Timewalkers' twisted sense of order. But how?
Suddenly, a voice echoed in his mind, a familiar voice that he hadn't heard in a long time. *Ben… help me…*
He gasped, recognizing the voice instantly. It was Albedo. But how was that possible? Albedo had been erased from existence. Or so he thought.
"Albedo?" Ben said, his voice filled with disbelief. "Is that you? Where are you?"
*I'm… I'm trapped,* Albedo's voice replied, weak and distorted. *In the Timestream… the Timewalkers… they're torturing me…*
"What do they want from you?" Ben asked.
*They want… the secrets of the Omnitrix,* Albedo replied. *The knowledge… to control all timelines…*
Ben's mind raced. The Timewalkers weren't just after the Ultimatrix and the Omnitrix shard. They wanted the ultimate power, the ability to manipulate time itself. And they were using Albedo to get it.
He had to save Albedo, not because he cared about him, but because Albedo held the key to stopping the Timewalkers. But how could he help him when he was trapped in the Timestream, powerless and alone?
Then, an idea sparked in his mind, a risky, desperate plan that could either save them both or destroy them completely. He closed his eyes, focusing his mind, reaching out to the temporal energy that still flowed within him.
"I'm coming for you, Albedo," Ben said, his voice filled with determination. "And together, we're going to stop the Timewalkers."
With a surge of willpower, he harnessed the power of the Ultimatrix, channeling his temporal energy into a single, focused beam. He aimed it at the swirling vortex of the Timestream, hoping against hope that it would be enough to break through and find Albedo. But as the beam struck, a figure emerged from the vortex - not Albedo, but a much more terrifying figure: Maltruant! How will Ben survive? Find out next time!
