Ben 10: Ultimate Convergence

Chapter 22: Episode 22: Temporal Echo

The air crackled with temporal energy as Ben, now infused with the power of the merged Ultimatrix and Omnitrix shard, faced Albedo. The landscape around them was a chaotic tapestry of fractured timelines, a testament to Albedo's unchecked manipulation of time. Albedo, visibly shaken by the unexpected turn of events, struggled to regain control of the Chronitrix, its energy fluctuating wildly.

"Impossible!" Albedo snarled, his voice laced with disbelief. "You shouldn't be able to wield such power! It's… it's an abomination!"

Ben ignored Albedo's taunts, focusing his newfound abilities. He could feel the threads of time around him, the countless possibilities and potential futures branching out from every moment. It was overwhelming, but also exhilarating.

"It's not an abomination, Albedo," Ben said, his voice resonating with temporal energy. "It's a convergence. A balance between two forces. And it's going to stop you."

He raised his hand, and a wave of temporal energy emanated from his body, targeting the Chronitrix directly. Albedo tried to counter the attack, unleashing his own temporal powers, but Ben's energy was different, more pure, more in tune with the natural flow of time.

Their powers collided, creating a temporal shockwave that ripped through the Celestial Clockwork, shattering the remaining structures and further destabilizing the timeline. But this time, the energy seemed to be working in Ben's favor, disrupting the Chronitrix's control over the flow of time.

Albedo staggered backward, clutching the Chronitrix, his face contorted in pain. "You can't win, Tennyson!" he gasped. "I've already rewritten history! I've created a reality where you never existed!"

Ben frowned, momentarily distracted by Albedo's words. He could feel the changes in the timeline, the subtle alterations to the past that Albedo had wrought. But he refused to let it break his focus.

"That's where you're wrong, Albedo," Ben said. "The past is not set in stone. It can be changed, but it can also be… remembered."

He closed his eyes, focusing his mind, reaching out to the threads of time, trying to reconnect to the original timeline, the reality before Albedo's interference. It was like trying to grasp smoke, the memories slipping through his fingers, distorted and fragmented.

But he persisted, drawing on his own memories, his own experiences, the bonds he had forged with Gwen, Kevin, and his family. He refused to let Albedo erase him from existence.

Slowly, gradually, the memories began to solidify, the original timeline coalescing around him. He could feel the support of his past self, the strength of his friendships, the unwavering belief in his own abilities.

He opened his eyes, his gaze hardening. "I remember, Albedo," he said, his voice filled with newfound determination. "I remember everything."

He unleashed another wave of temporal energy, this time infused with his own memories, his own experiences, his own sense of self. The energy washed over the Chronitrix, disrupting its connection to the altered timeline, forcing it to reconnect to the original reality.

The Chronitrix began to sputter and smoke, its temporal distortions reversing, the fragmented timelines collapsing back into a single, cohesive flow. Albedo screamed in frustration, his control over the device slipping away.

"No!" he cried. "It can't be! I won't let you take it from me!"

He channeled all of his remaining energy into the Chronitrix, attempting to override Ben's control, to reassert his dominance over the timeline. But it was too late. The Chronitrix was already overloaded, its systems failing.

With a final, deafening explosion, the Chronitrix shattered into a million pieces, its temporal energy dissipating into the ether. Albedo collapsed to his knees, his body flickering and fading, his form unstable.

"It's… it's over," he gasped, his voice weak. "I… I failed."

Ben approached Albedo cautiously, his hand still glowing with temporal energy. He could feel Albedo's power fading, his connection to the timeline weakening. Soon, he would cease to exist.

"Why, Albedo?" Ben asked, his voice filled with a mixture of anger and pity. "Why did you do this?"

Albedo looked up at Ben, his eyes filled with a strange mixture of hatred and regret. "Because… because I wanted to be better than you," he said. "I wanted to prove that I was worthy. That I was… the best."

With those final words, Albedo's body dissolved into particles of light, vanishing from existence. The Celestial Clockwork fell silent, the temporal anomalies fading away. The timeline was restored, the universe was safe.

Ben reverts to his human form, the surge of temporal energy subsiding, but as he does so, Azmuth speaks ominously. "The battle may be over, Ben Tennyson, but the war has just begun." What threat looms on the horizon? Find out next time! Stay tuned!.
