Chapter 15: APOLOGIZE TO THE GENTLEMAN
They arrived at the venue fifteen minutes past the opening time.
Glinda looked gorgeous in her red gown. Her neatly styled curls fell on her back and bounced as she walked. She pulled her young assistant to their group that was gathered at one side of the party hall.
Stephen, who was talking to his personal assistant, took a once over at the young man walking towards them. He didn’t expect Glinda to bring an escort. He subtly pulled the woman to the side, leaving the cute guy in the circle, who didn’t seem to have any problem opening up to them.
“Hey, this party is only for business. I want everybody focused and not distracted.” Stephen hissed.
His eyes wandered to the young man who was laughing together with his employees. Goodness, those cheeks looked tempting. Not to mention those dimples that looked adorable.
“What do you mean by that?” Glinda frowned.
“I mean, why did you bring a boy toy here?”
Glinda burst out laughing.
“That boy toy is the one I told you about. I asked him to substitute my full-time assistant who couldn’t be here.”
Stephen was dumbfounded. He hadn’t seen the employee before since the young man only worked part time.
He gave the guy a once over. He looked great in a white dress shirt, navy blue jacket and pants. He wore a silk blue necktie with little dots around his neck. On his feet were black leather shoes.
“You should focus. We don’t want our CEO distracted.” Glinda smirked. She left him and went back to their group with a lovely gait.
Stephen groaned. How could his eyes fool him?
During the dinner, Stephen sneaked a few glances at the new employee. He tried to be subtle, but Glinda still caught him.
The woman cast him a knowing wink. This cousin of his, had eyes as sharp as an eagle.
He looked away and sipped the red wine instead.
The mayor of the city was invited as well as other government officials, and businessmen in the construction and interior design industry. After the opening remarks and speeches from the guests of honor, the performance started.
As the night dragged on, alcohol poured in the party. Men looked for stronger liquor. Intoxicated people began to lose their inhibitions. Men gained the courage to pursue young ladies who became pink with embarrassment. Some more liberated women felt more confident and even flirted with the married men.
Miguel felt tipsy. His head was spinning and his vision was alternating from clear to blurry. It had been a long time since he had been drunk like this. Leaning onto the wall, he walked along the hallway as he tried to look for the restroom.
On his way, his path was blocked by a round older man. The person smelled of alcohol, smoke, and something nasty that Miguel could not think of.
“Where are you headed to little cutie? Perhaps I could joi- aahh… help you.” The older man gave him a lecherous gaze.
Miguel was not paying attention to what the man had been saying because he was already dizzy. He just wanted to go to the restroom and refresh by washing his face with cold water.
The round man placed his hand around Miguel’s shoulders.
Miguel, not accustomed to having people touch his body, pushed the man away. But with his slim build and current condition, his movement didn’t do much damage to the lecherous man.
“Let me take care of you little boy… I’ve got a room upstairs.” The balding man lasciviously licked his lips.
Miguel struggled to stay in place as the larger man continued to drag him along the hallway.
“Leave me alone! Go away!”
“Even if you shout nobody is going to help you.”
Miguel bit the man’s hand and managed to run away. But the round man was able to catch him.
“You’re going to pay for that stunt that you did little bitch.” He pulled Miguel’s hair down and then proceeded to slam his head against the wall.
Miguel who was already dizzy, vomited all over the man. He felt an excruciating pain on his head. His sight dimmed. But every cell in his body was screaming and pushing him to hold on. If he lost consciousness, who knew what greater evil would have happened to him.
Seeing that the boy was still standing, the despicable man was about to slam the boy’s head again.
Miguel closed his eyes and braced himself for the impact, but no pain came. Instead he felt warmth and a strong heartbeat. He opened his eyes only to see the blurry sight of a dark coat. Frightened, he pushed the stranger away.
“No! Stay away from me!” He shouted.
He staggered, and was about to fall, but the stranger caught him back to his embrace. This time he was held firmly by large warm hands. Totally terrified with what was happening to him, Miguel struggled. But the stranger pulled him further into his embrace, and tried to calm him with soothing circles at his back.
“Mr. Smith,” Stephen forced a fake smile on his face as he addressed the old man. “Thank you for bringing back my employee. We shall be on our way.”
Stephen held the guy as they passed by the businessman. He brought him to a rest room on another floor of the hotel.
The whole incident had been witnessed by another man and his party.
Henry was about to move forward when the balding rotund man touched the boy. His blood boiled when he saw the smaller person being battered. He wanted to punch the bastard, and save the young man.
But someone beat him to it.
A dangerous glint flashed in his eyes.
“Sir, should we go and check the boy?” Andre asked.
Henry’s eyes suddenly turned cold. What was he thinking? That boy was just an insignificant piece of his plan.
“No need.”
He walked away, but paused when he passed by the intoxicated man. Henry’s eyes lingered at the man leaning against the wall.
“Kasumi, you should go apologize to the gentleman.”
Kasumi looked puzzled.
“For breaking his balls.” Henry continued.
The wheels turned instantly in Kasumi’s head. He forgot that Mr. Kingsley had his way with words.
The boss can speak nicely about one thing, but he was actually telling you to do something. A subtle Mr. Kingsley was as dangerous as an explosive Mr. Kingsley.
