Beloved Husband of a Billionaire

Chapter 12: ONE DAY AT A TIME (PART 1)

Onlookers had been forced behind the yellow tape. They had seen the police come out from various vehicles.

Meanwhile, news reporters came down like ravens wanting a piece of information. Each of the journalists tried to have an exclusive moment with the police. They tried to present their news through different angles to make it look as though they were the only ones who got the information.

Thus, the hostage situation got a lot of attention with their live coverage.

Inside the bank the atmosphere was filled with nervous tension. The hostage taker, disguised as a blind man, was pacing back and forth on the floor.

Everybody including him heard the gunshots from the back.

Though the exchange of bullets stopped, none of his accomplices had come out of the door behind the counter. He wanted to go in and check what was happening, but he could not leave the hostages. They were his ticket for escape.

Outside the bank, the officers analyzed the blue print of the building. They looked for a way to sneak inside without alerting the hostage takers.

The SWAT team were positioned outside the front entrance, ready to enter anytime once the signal was given.

Snipers relayed information as they watched what was happening behind the scope of their rifles.

Through the main door of the bank, a sniper saw nine hostages sitting on the ground. A man with sunglasses had a gun drawn out pointed at them, ready to shoot. The man kept moving around. It seemed as though he was agitated.

“That is not a good sign.” The hostage negotiator concluded.

The police supervisor frowned. He knew from experience that the next moments would become ugly.

“All men, standby until the signal is given.”

The atmosphere on the streets became strained when they heard screams.

“Spotter, report. What is happening inside?” The supervisor asked through his radio.

With his scope, the sniper tried to gauge the situation. “The hostage taker… just pulled a person from the group. He now has a gun… pointed to a hostage, and the hostage seems… pregnant, Sir.”

Inside the bank, the pregnant woman cried. She could feel the warm fluid flowing down her legs.

“Please. Please release me. Don’t kill my baby.” She cried.

Her baby has not yet become fully developed. But the stressful situation has caused her water bag to break.

            “My ba-“

“Shut up! Shut. Up!” He shook the pregnant woman’s body.

Clearly agitated, the hostage taker weighed his options.

The next moment, shit went down.

He gripped the handle of the gun tight, and started shooting towards the glass door.

Promptly, supervisor gave the signal.

The sniper shot the hostage taker in the head. The pregnant lady fell on the floor together with the hostage taker. The next moment, the SWAT stormed inside the bank. They did a thorough sweep of the building and found that all hostage takers had been neutralized.

Soon the medics rushed into the building to check on the hostages.

One by one, the hostages had been brought outside and placed into an ambulance that would bring them to the hospital.

The pregnant woman had been first to come out. Luckily, she had not been shot. But they had to bring her to the hospital quickly or else she will lose the baby.

Henry watched everything behind the yellow tape. His sharp eyes scanned all the people coming out.

Andre was beside him as Kasumi and Tony secured his back.

“Sir, you cannot enter behind this line.” A police officer pushed him back.

“That… that man is my husband.” Henry growled as he pointed to one of the victims.

Realizing this, the officer eventually allowed him to pass.

Henry approached the unconscious body on the stretcher. His thoughts wandered somewhere.

“Are you a family member, sir?” The medic asked when he saw the tall man stand outside the ambulance.

“Yes.” Henry spoke with an impassive expression. It was difficult to gauge what he was thinking.

            “Hop in.”

The medic closed the door after Henry entered the ambulance.

Andre, Kasumi, and Toni followed them behind in two separate cars.

If his suspicion was right, then …

A cold glint flashed through his green eyes.
