Beloved Bride: Captured by the Top Playboy

Chapter 7: Chapter 7: Drowning Sorrows

Her heart skipped a beat, dizzy. How could she have forgotten about this? The last time she went home, her parents had brought up the matter of them getting married soon, mentioning how she wasn't getting any younger and might face difficulties bearing children later on. Unable to resist their pressure, she had agreed, only asking them to pick a date and let her know.

"Mom... that..." It seemed she couldn't keep it from her mom any longer. With a toughened resolve, Suxin confessed, "Haoran and I broke up."

"Broke up?" Mrs. Cheng was taken aback, "Susu, you aren't joking with mom, are you?"

"No... I'm not lying..." Suxin stuttered in response.

"Susu, did you and Haoran have another tiff? You're not young anymore; stop being so stubborn. Haoran is such a good kid; why do you keep pushing him away? Apologize to him, say a few nice words, and it will be over. In two more months, you'll be getting married. Oh, right, did you take your wedding photos yet? Whenever you're free, go and get the marriage certificate too," Mrs. Cheng prattled on.

"Mom, Haoran has someone else," Suxin said helplessly.

"He has someone else?" Mrs. Cheng sounded incredulous, "Susu, are you misunderstanding something? Haoran is so devoted to you."

"Mom, there's no misunderstanding, Liu Haoran himself told me, and moreover, he and that woman are about to get married."

"Really? Then what do we do? I told you, you were a good girl, and right after you graduated, I wanted you guys to get married, but you always said it was too early. Now look what's happened, you're twenty-nine now, becoming the leftover of leftovers, where are you going to find someone now?" Mrs. Cheng said with a pained voice.

"Mom, I will find someone eventually, why are you rushing?" Listening to her mom's words, Suxin also felt uncomfortable. In her parents' eyes, Liu Haoran was a good man, and whenever they fought it was always her fault.

"Susu, men are bound to be foolish sometimes, Haoran is still fundamentally a good kid. Go and talk to Haoran properly again, maybe there's still a chance for a turnaround."

"Mom, this isn't about a quarrel, he cheated on me; it's a fundamental issue. How can I forgive that?"

"Susu, men are thirty stems of flowers, women are thirty scraps of tofu; where are you going to find someone as good as Haoran again? After all these years, feelings aren't easy to come by, depending on mom..."

"Mom, just stop interfering, okay? I'll definitely bring a son-in-law to meet you, that's enough," Susu interrupted Mrs. Cheng impatiently.

"Find? It's not that easy."

"I will definitely find someone, don't worry about it, it's late, I'm going to sleep now, hanging up!"

She had only told her mom about the breakup; if she had mentioned that she lost her job as well, who knows what additional chaos that would cause? Thinking about this made her feel even more irritated. In this confined space, Suxin felt utterly suffocated.

"I need to get out!" With that thought, Suxin put on a coat and stepped out, pocketing some money along the way. They say eating can relieve worries, so today she was going to throw her figure to the wind and go eat!

Stepping out of the neighborhood, the outside was brilliantly lit, bustling with people, no less busy than in daytime. Perhaps for some, this was just the beginning of night life.

Suxin walked into a bustling restaurant next to the residential area. It was now time for the evening snack, and the place was crowded. Suxin ordered a few small dishes and, unusually, two bottles of beer.

Suxin had drunk before, but it was her first time drinking alone to drown her sorrows like today.

"It's just deceiving, what drink can make you drunk? I've had two bottles and I'm not drunk at all!" Suxin finished the beer in no time, "It seems it's the drink's fault, beer just doesn't work!"

"Boss, give me a bottle of Erguotou!"

After a sip of Erguotou, Suxin felt a burning sensation in her throat. After three sips, her stomach felt blazing hot. Half a bottle later, her vision was blurry, and she truly had no more troubles.

"This drink...really sucks..." Suxin lay sprawled on the table, desperately eating the dishes, "The more I eat, the more I want to throw up..."

"Liu Haoran, you're such a jerk! At first, when you were chasing me, everything was perfect, and you exhausted all sweet nothings..." clutching the bottle, Suxin chugged another gulp, "Eight years, we've been together for eight years... how could you just change like that..." As she drank, tears blurred her eyes as if trying to vent all the grievances inside her.

"Ugh... Ugh..." A wave of sourness came up, and Suxin staggered aside, kneeling on the ground, "Ugh... Ugh..." she vomited on the spot.

She vomited everything she had eaten, along with the coffee she drank earlier, emptying her stomach completely. However, it made her more sober.

"What now, so much for 'drunkenness solves all sorrows'. All lies!" Suxin cried while wiping the filth from her mouth with a tissue.

Then she staggered to the checkout counter, pulled out her money, and with a smack, slammed it on the counter. "Boss, the bill!"

Feeling light-headed, she walked toward the residential area, her steps wobbly. Suxin felt her head heavy and foggy, "Sleepy, so sleepy, I want to sleep."

Hobbling, Suxin finally reached the entrance of the residential area. "Eh? What are those two people doing?" In her blurry vision, Suxin saw a man and a woman sitting closely together in a white sports car.

"Wow, isn't there any law? Kissing each other in broad daylight?" Susu, now completely drunk, couldn't distinguish between day and night. Through her fuzzy eyes, she saw the long-haired beauty tightly embracing the man and starting to kiss him feverishly; the posture seemed vigorous while the man just sat there without moving, letting the woman kiss him.

"Are women so bold nowadays?" Suxin rolled her eyes and licked her lips, walking towards that sports car.

The seductive red figure was wrapped around the man like a snake, their lips tightly locked. The woman, eyes closed, looked fully absorbed, immensely enraptured. Is it necessary to be so enraptured? Is there no shame left?

With a loud "bang," Suxin forcefully slapped the front hood of the car, causing the woman inside to pause and stiffen, yet she remained in the same pose.

"Hey, miss, do you have no shame? This is the main entrance. Are you that desperate?" Suxin's voice fluctuated high and low, some words slurred as she pointed at the woman in the car, her steps weaving to and fro.
