Beloved Bride: Captured by the Top Playboy

Chapter 25: Chapter 25: Unforgettable Memories

The moonlight outside the window was clear and bright, and the evening breeze of May brushed against her face, softly carrying a hint of chill, very refreshing.

It was already midnight, but Suxin had no hint of sleepiness.

"Yuanhang, are you coming back?" Suxin looked up at the crescent moon in the sky, her emotions still unsettled.

Years of past events, emotional ties crammed in her memory, surged uncontrollably like floodgates had opened.

The first time she saw Yuanhang was under the century-old banyan tree in front of Building 6 at T University. She would forever remember that boy in the white short-sleeve shirt, gracefully charming, so radiant that she couldn't open her eyes, and just one glance from afar had imprinted him in her heart, never to be removed.

Yuanhang and she were like natural antonyms—he was tall, standing at six feet, while she was only five feet four inches; he was handsome, she was plain; he was outgoing, she was somewhat introverted; he was humorous, she lacked even a cell for jokes; he was dazzling all over, and she was the most inconspicuous person, absolutely invisible in a crowd.

Despite such disparity, she couldn't help falling in love with him; she knew this was "love at first sight."

She originally wanted to just maintain this love from a distance, but it seemed that fate particularly favored her as she and he always found ways to interact. Gradually, they got to know each other and became friends.

He called her "Xinxin," and she called him "Yuanhang," their exclusive names for each other.

"Xinxin, you will be the best friend of Ling Yuanhang."

"Yuanhang, you will always be my best friend."

To her, this was enough—being good friends with the person she adored, being able to be so close to him, was already a great blessing from heaven.

But Ling Yuanhang was so dazzling, always surrounded by various girls, and then one night, she saw him holding another girl's hand.

At that moment, she felt as if the whole world had collapsed, all colors instantly turned to pitch black.

And that's when Liu Haoran began to enter her world. He liked her, pursued her, and tolerated her, while she clung to him like a branch in the flowing water.

The once intimate friends each had their lovers, but whenever she saw Yuanhang holding his girlfriend's hand passing by her and Liu Haoran, her heart felt as if it was being cut by knives.

She smiled, held her head high, and affectionately held Liu Haoran's hand, happily passing by him.

Gradually, during classes, she could no longer see Yuanhang's figure; she heard Yuanhang had gotten addicted to online games, she heard Yuanhang and his girlfriend had broken up.

"Yuanhang, come back to class."

"Okay!"

Every time she sent Yuanhang a message, the next day she would always see Yuanhang with a book sitting at the very back, and when she looked over, she could always see Yuanhang giving her a sunny smile.

But, every time, he couldn't stick it for three days, Yuanhang would revert to his old ways.

She didn't love Liu Haoran, but she didn't break up with him either. In her heart, she always wanted to prove something—she wanted to prove that she and Liu Haoran would last longer than Yuanhang and his girlfriend; she wanted to cover up the fact that she was with Liu Haoran because Yuanhang had a girlfriend.

Moreover, she was grateful to Liu Haoran; knowing that her heart belonged to Yuanhang, he still resolutely wanted to be with her.

On the eve of graduation, all the classmates had found jobs, except for Yuanhang, who couldn't graduate due to failing several courses,

and at the same time, news spread that Yuanhang was going to the UK to continue his studies.

"Xinxin, don't get married too soon. Wait for me to come back. I want to see you in a wedding dress with my own eyes..."

She stared at Yuanhang's still sunny and gentle gaze, her heart stirred, unable to calm down for a long time, as a question hidden deep within her stirred restlessly.

"Yuanhang, have you ever liked me?" On the day before graduation, she finally couldn't hold back and asked the question that had been buried in her heart for four whole years.

"The person I've liked in my heart has always been only you."

Tears blurred her vision, her heart ached so much she couldn't breathe, as if a sword was piercing her heart, each breath pulling at her heart.

Her long-standing perseverance collapsed in an instant, and there were no more colors between heaven and earth.

This heartache lasted a whole week, and from then on, her heart was never able to feel for anyone else again.

This memory, treasured in the deepest part of her heart, unknowingly, tears already covered her face, thinking she had long buried that memory, but recalling it tonight, it still felt so vivid.

Suddenly, the living room light turned on, and even from the balcony, it felt piercingly bright.

When she turned her head, she met Chen Ziqian's bright eyes.

"What? Hiding on the balcony and crying alone?" Chen Ziqian was taken aback, thinking he would come home to his aunt's proud and happy face, but he hadn't expected this scene. Who could tell him what was going on?

"It's none of your business!" Suxin quickly wiped the tears from her cheeks and walked inside.

"You couldn't be crying over not finding a job, could you?" Chen Ziqian purposely asked, genuinely curious.

"Who said I didn't find a job? I'll have you know, I got hired today and I'm reporting tomorrow." Suxin paused, hand on her room's door knob, then turned back to look at Chen Ziqian. Why did this pretty boy always look down on her? Was she really that weak?

"Oh? Is that so?" Chen Ziqian chuckled lightly, pulling off the tie around his neck and sitting down on the sofa, "Which company was so blind as to hire you?"

"I'll have you know, the company that hired me is a big corporation, not blind but recognizing talent!" Suxin insisted defiantly in front of Chen Ziqian, though she was very aware that her employment at Yuanfang International might just have been a stroke of luck.

"Oh, is that so?" Chen Ziqian smiled, "Then I'll see how you perform, seeing if you're a hero or just a bear."

"Chen Ziqian... you..." The words reached her lips but then she swallowed them back, Suxin lifting her head to face him, "I'm not bothering with you today, I'm going in to get my beauty sleep!"

This pretty boy's purpose was just to annoy her, but she wouldn't be so easily fooled, right? If he wanted her to get angry, she simply wouldn't!

With a "snap," the door closed.

Chen Ziqian shook his head, still sitting on the sofa. His mind was still on the image of Suxin's tear-streaked face, that deeply heartfelt sorrow. Just one look had let him deeply feel what kind of thing can make a person so sad?

"Why do I care about this? It really is quite boring!" Chen Ziqian muttered to himself, shaking his head as he stood up and walked towards his own room.
