Becoming the Strongest as a Game Dev

Chapter 26: Chapter 26

After playing Night Raid, Sam gets a notification that a player is about to fight Vergil, a notification he setup beforehand. He is interested because fights against Vergil have always been one of the best in the series. Sam watches as the first player prepares to face off against Vergil for the first time. On the screen, he sees Dante standing atop the Temen-ni-gru, engaged in a tense exchange with his twin brother.

Vergil says, "You showed up."

Dante quips, "You sure know how to throw a party! No food, no drinks, and the only babe just left."

Vergil responds, "My sincerest apology, brother. I was so eager to see you, I couldn't concentrate on preparations for the bash."

Dante retorts, "Whatever, at any rate, it's been a whole year since we last met. How about a kiss from your little brother? Or better yet, how about a kiss from THIS!" He points his gun, Ivory, at Vergil.

The two brothers stand off under the moonlight and rain.

Dante remarks, "So this is what they call a heartwarming family reunion, eh?"

Vergil simply states, "You got that right."

Sam watches the scene unfold, his eyes fixed on the screen as the iconic confrontation between the Sparda twins begins.

Sam watched intently as the player controlling Dante clashed swords with Vergil. The Sparda twins circled each other, blades flashing in the moonlight. Dante's gunshots rang out, Ivory spitting lead, but Vergil deflected them effortlessly with his katana, Yamato. Their footwork was impeccable, each step calculated, as they dueled atop the Temen-ni-gru.

Vergil lunged, his strikes swift and relentless. Dante backpedaled, parrying the blows with his own sword, Rebellion. The brothers' movements were fluid, almost dance-like, as they traded blows. Sam watched, captivated, as the iconic confrontation between the twins unfolded before his eyes.

"Whoa, this player's got some serious chops," Sam murmured, impressed by their ability to fight Vergil evenly.

Sam had limited Vergil's moveset for this initial fight to ensure the challenge remained manageable. However, he had set a condition that would allow Vergil to unleash more advanced techniques if the player displayed exceptional skill at this stage. After all, the player was supposed to lose their first confrontation with Vergil.

The player's sword clashed against Vergil's Yamato, the blades ringing out as they traded blows. Vergil's strikes were swift and precise, but the player matched him, parrying and dodging with agility.

"Impressive," Vergil murmured, his icy gaze fixed on the player. "But let's see how you handle this."

With a flick of his wrist, Vergil's movements became a blur, his katana a deadly extension of his arm. The player's eyes widened as they struggled to keep up with the onslaught.

Sam leaned forward, watching intently as the player fought valiantly against the enhanced Vergil. "This is getting interesting," he muttered, a hint of a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.

Sam watches intently as the player controlling Dante clashes swords with Vergil. The two brothers trade blows with impressive skill, their movements fluid and precise.

"This guy is still keeping up?" Sam murmurs, impressed by their ability to fight Vergil evenly.

The battle intensifies, the clash of steel echoing through the virtual arena. Vergil's onslaught becomes relentless, but the player adapts, utilizing Dante's full arsenal of weapons and combat styles to keep up. Sam leans forward, captivated by the display of skill.

Just when Sam thinks the player might have the upper hand, Vergil's demeanor shifts. A dark aura surrounds him, and his features transform. His Devil Trigger has been unleashed. Sam's eyes widen as Vergil's power escalates.

"You've proven yourself worthy, brother," Vergil says, his voice deepening. "But now, it's time to show you the true extent of my power."

Vergil cuts the space around the player's location, but the player jumps to the side.

"Predictable," Vergil scoffs, creating summoned swords that all attack towards the player.

The player destroys the swords with Ebony and Ivory, but Vergil gets behind him and slashes at his back.

"Your skills have improved, but they're still no match for me," Vergil says, kicking the player into the air and unleashing a devastating combo. The player falls to the ground, struggling to get up.

Sam sits back, stunned by the turn of events. "Who is this player?" he wonders, "to have forced Vergil to use his Devil Trigger?"

The cutscene plays as Vergil uses the Rebellion to pierce Dante's chest. Sam, however, his focus quickly shifts away from the narrative, his mind racing with curiosity about the skilled player.

Pulling up the game's analytics, Sam searches for any information on the player who had managed to push Vergil to his Devil Trigger. All he finds is the username "Aria." Sam's brow furrows as he considers this - the name immediately suggests a female player, and his interest piques.

"Aria, huh?" Sam murmurs, leaning back in his chair. "Impressive, to have forced Vergil to go all-out like that."

Glancing back at the simulation, Sam sees Dante's defeated form, but his mind remains focused on Aria. He makes a mental note to keep an eye on her progress.

In a room in a highrise building, a silver-haired woman takes off her headset. Her striking golden eyes gleam with a hint of satisfaction as she sets the device aside, her movements graceful and precise. Dressed in a stylish white ensemble, she cuts an elegant figure, her posture exuding a quiet confidence. With a slight tilt of her head, she reflects on the battle she had just experienced, her expression betraying no outward emotion.

Her name is Aria, a B-Rank Hunter in Jade City. She sits back in her chair, her golden eyes narrowing slightly as she contemplates the intense battle she just experienced.

The D-Rank simulation had raised her combat proficiency, something even the C-Rank simulation had failed to increase her proficiency.

Aria leaned back in her chair, a hint of satisfaction in her golden eyes. "Impressive," she said, her voice soft and measured. "The creator has a remarkable grasp of combat mechanics and character design."

She tapped a finger against the arm of her chair, her gaze thoughtful. "To create such a worthy opponent, the developer must possess a deep understanding of the human psyche and the nuances of combat."

Aria's eyes narrowed as she spotted the creator's name. "Genesis..." she murmured, leaning forward slightly, her brow furrowing. "I wonder what else you can do."
