Becoming a Deity from Planting the Bodhi Tree

Chapter 197: Bamboo shadows sweep the steps yet no dust stirs; the moon passes through the depths of the pond leaving no trace.

Not long after.

Ji Jingqiu and the elder of the Chains Realm sat on the ground inside the deepest hut of the tribe, with the elder personally pouring tea for Ji Jingqiu as a thank you for saving their lineage.

The elder was named Harlon Kase, a Clan Elder of this lineage of Devil Descendants.

Ji Jingqiu waved his hand: "I want to make an attempt, please cooperate with me."

Harlon's expression turned serious: "Please speak, the Kase lineage will not let down their benefactor!"

"It's not that exaggerated." Ji Jingqiu pondered for a moment, reached out to grasp Harlon's arm, sensing the location of the wick.

He made an attempt and found that he could indeed retrieve the seed of fire kindled within Harlon's body.

This verification result left Ji Jingqiu speechless; this Innate Divine Ability seemed even more against the natural order than he had imagined...

"When I just tried to take back the wick, what did you feel?" Ji Jingqiu asked.

Harlon pondered and replied: "I didn't feel anything else, just a sense of emptiness in my spirit, after all, I was nurturing this Fire with the Power of the Spirit, the sudden withdrawal is bound to leave some emptiness..."

Ji Jingqiu nodded, his mind beginning to ponder the true usage of this Divine Skill.

Could the true method of this Innate Divine Power be—

[Passing the fire, brother?]

Finally, a unprecedented harvest at the end?

Why does it feel like playing the role of a mastermind behind the scenes...

Ji Jingqiu murmured in his heart, inexplicably feeling that this Innate Divine Power, in combination with Wisdom Light, possessed potential that exceeded his imagination.

Harlon suddenly mustered his courage, his expression solemn, and formally requested, "Sir, may you bestow upon us a few more offshoot seeds of your Divine Power?"

Ji Jingqiu was surprised.

Are there actually people actively coming forward to help him nurture his Divine Power?

Remembering the previous Heart Nightmare, Ji Jingqiu thought for a moment and didn't rush to agree; he couldn't condense too many wicks at once, one or two were manageable, but more could deplete his own Divinity, requiring a significant replenishment of Divine Remains.

"What's the reason?"

Faced with Ji Jingqiu's question, Harlon gave a bitter smile and recounted the hardships of their lineage over the past few decades.

In Harlon's description, it was a story of inviting a wolf into the house.

The practice of the natives on the Ancient Road was severely limited by Heaven and Earth, extremely challenging.

The brokenness of the Cosmic Plane, and the fragmentation of the Dharma, made their journey on Martial Arts fraught with difficulties.

And the natives of the Ancient Road had long bound themselves to these Plane Worlds; not to mention leaving the Ancient Road, even leaving their own Plane World was a dilemma.

For the first time, Ji Jingqiu heard a certain saying from Harlon.

All Spirits are born with a certain "Original Mark," like the natives of the Ancient Road, most of whom are indigenous spirits of the Sub-level Universe Plane, some of which are even spirits born within certain powerful beings' Inner Heaven and Earth, inherently inseparable from their Plane.

In a realm where Heaven and Earth are incomplete and gradually collapsing, not only is practice affected, but it's also difficult to leave one's World Plane, with only a few former great clans possessing methods to travel freely.

Decades ago, a member of the Void Devil Descendants felt a certain "call" in their practice, and by performing a certain ritual, they could speed up their cultivation significantly, and their comprehension of Heaven and Earth Law greatly improved.

The quantum leap of that clansmen drew the attention of the tribe, and the ritual was soon discovered. Although he, as an elder, explicitly forbade it, some people in private had already been beguiled.

Once the door of Taboo opens, it's not something one can simply close at will.

Afterward, that Heart Nightmare Evil Spirit broke free with their help, making its Descent into this Plane, causing their lineage to completely succumb.

"You just mentioned it broke free?" Ji Jingqiu caught the keyword and asked with furrowed brows.

"Yes, sir." Harlon spoke softly, "From the bits and phrases it inadvertently let slip, we judged that it likely came from the depths of the Ancient Road."

Ji Jingqiu thought of Lady La's previous words.

On the Heavenly Road of the Great Universe, all beings related to the Heart Demons are followers of the Four Demons, specifically the Heavenly Demon, yet the one seen on the Ancient Road was not.

Now Harlon was saying that this thing came from deep within the Ancient Road...

Given Hel's previously inadvertently revealed attitude, he was sure there was a secret hidden within.

"There's not just it that has broken free." Harlon continued somberly, "We heard it talking to itself that many of its kin have already broken free, and even mentioned a certain 'arrangement', it seems the Ancient Road may fall into chaos!"

Ji Jingqiu nodded; he didn't care whether the Ancient Road was chaotic or not, as long as it wasn't chaotic before his eyes.

Harlon requested him to bestow the wicks because some of the tribespeople had been too severely eroded, with their Inner Heaven wavering, and he felt Ji Jingqiu's wick could help stabilize them.

"...Sir, you need to be extra cautious of certain great clans on the Ancient Road; their so-called method of free movement is actually to kill the Trialists of the Ancient Road and replace a certain qualification."

Harlon concluded with a reminder.

Ji Jingqiu was not surprised, this was also mentioned in the information held by the Nine Palaces; many of the natives were hostile towards outsiders.

The reason wasn't solely for some sort of qualification, but rather every time the Ancient Road opened, the influx of countless trialists was a catastrophic blow to certain indigenous civilizations.

Ji Jingqiu accepted Harlon's request, promising to bestow a few more wicks, on the condition of accompanying him in a fight, a no-holding-back kind.

He wanted to see how much he lacked compared to the Chains Realm now.

The two chose an open space outside the tribe as their battleground.

Although Ji Jingqiu had asked Harlon not to hold back, how could Harlon dare to take it seriously? He was reticent in the fight, basically serving as a punching bag for Ji Jingqiu to test his own Combat Power.
