Chapter 0
Prologue
Man, after getting kicked out, I opened a curiosity shop or something…?
On a crisp autumn day when the red maple leaves swayed gently…
“Sorry, but you need to leave our guild.”
A deadpan woman said this.
Black Witch Baek Seorin, Guild Master of Sandouchon and South Korea’s one and only S-Rank Sorceress.
“Choi Seo-Joon, you no longer fit in with Sandouchon.”
She just straight up fired me.
“Do you have a reason?”
“You know very well. Your E-Rank Appraisal Skill is useless.”
Among appraisal skills, E-Rank is the lowest.
In other words, I didn’t meet the qualifications to be an appraiser for South Korea’s top-tier guild, Sandouchon.
Of course, that wasn’t the only reason.
Even though appraisal specialists are rare and I’d been doing my job diligently…
The fact that they didn’t need me anymore meant…
“Nice to meet you. I’m Kim Gi-Tae, a C-Rank appraiser.”
“He’s your replacement.”
A tanned guy named Kim Gi-Tae extended his hand with a smug grin.
He looked thrilled to become the appraiser for South Korea’s top guild.
“Nice to meet you. It’s an honor to encounter someone who has worked as Sandouchon’s appraiser.”
Despite saying it was an honor, Kim Gi-Tae’s sneering smile clearly mocked my E-Rank status.
But I didn’t feel bad at all.
Actually, the sight of tanned Kim Gi-Tae almost blinded me.
No wonder why…
Finally, my savior from this hellish appraisal nightmare had arrived!
“At last…”
My personal bluebird has come!
I grabbed Kim Gi-Tae’s hand firmly.
“What the heck is going on…”
“Welcome!”
“…What?”
Confused by my unexpected congratulatory gesture, Kim Gi-Tae awkwardly accepted it with a blank stare.
His clueless reaction delighted me even more.
He seemed like such a perfect newbie, ripe for exploitation.
Where did they find such prime talent?
As always, Black Witch Baek Seorin’s deviousness left me impressed.
“Congratulations on your new job.”
I sincerely congratulated Kim Gi-Tae on his new position…and mine too.
On a maple-leaf swirling autumn day…
I got expelled from the guild where I’d spent 10 years.

Relics from the past possess special powers.
Depending on which historical figure used them and from what era, their value varies greatly.
Take Excalibur from King Arthur’s legend or Gram from Sigurd – these are treated as national treasures.
The more famous the historical figure, the stronger the relic’s power.
Appraisers are professionals who evaluate these relics’ worth and assign rankings.
At first glance, it seems like an important job, but only if you’re high-ranking.
E-Rank appraisers like me spend our days evaluating junk relics.
Especially at massive guilds like Sandouchon, the workload is insane.
Appraise, appraise, appraise, appraise, appraise…
“Horrible, wasn’t it?”
We’re basically human rating machines, slapping grades on artifacts like barcodes on products.
Worse still, there’s always a labor shortage, making retirement impossible – modern-day slavery.
So why did I do it?
“For the sweet honey, baby.”
Looking at the shelves brought a satisfied smile to my face.
Rings of Regeneration, Poison Resistance Necklaces, Goggles of Sight…the shelves reached the ceiling, stocked with hunter essentials.
This was my collection of relics earned through ten grueling years at Sandouchon.
The heavy workload paid well – that’s why Sandouchon thrived.
Without that, I would’ve quit long ago.
Anyway…
“Looks good enough.”
Stretching my back, I surveyed my surroundings.
A cozy curiosity shop with relic shelves lining one wall.
It was the first store I’d ever owned, after leaving Sandouchon.
Pride welled up inside me, bringing a smile.
“There’s no way this won’t succeed.”
Near Incheon, a Gate heaven, there were plenty of hunters and goods.
All that was left was to reap the sweet rewards.
After tidying up the relics for a while, I picked up an item absentmindedly.
“Oh yeah, this thing.”
In my hand was a small handheld mirror.
A magical device that reveals an Awakened person’s abilities.
An outdated relic from the old days, unused in modern times.
Though looking wouldn’t change anything, I infused it with mana out of curiosity.
“Well, duh.”
The mirror turned brown, indicating “E-Rank.”
Naturally, since my appraiser rank was E, this result made perfect sense.
However…
“Hmm?”
While trying to put away the mirror, I blinked in surprise as it suddenly shimmered with rainbow light.
“Rainbow?”
I’d never heard of rainbow being one of the colors that indicate Awakened ranks.
But the rainbow disappeared instantly, like it had never been.
“Did I imagine it?”
Seeing the mirror was still brown, I shook my head and withdrew my mana.
“Guess I’m sleepy.”
I realized the truth only after waking up from a nap.
Knock knock knock!
The rhythmic knocking woke me from my light doze.
“I must’ve dozed off.”
Checking the clock, I’d slept for about an hour.
Knock knock knock!
“Door’s open! Just come in!”
“Excuse me.”
When I saw who entered, I tilted my head in confusion.
“Is it some kind of cosplay event?”
The newcomer looked like he’d stepped right out of a history book – a Western man in a stylish military uniform.
“Mind if I get a drink? I’ll pay you back properly.”
“Water’s free, of course.”
Since the man looked extremely exhausted, I poured him a glass from the water dispenser.
“Thanks.”
After drinking, the man looked around the shop with curious eyes.
“What kind of place is this?”
“Ah, this is a curiosity shop-”
Just as I was about to explain further…
─You have encountered a great figure from a failed timeline.
◆The Connector(???) of Transcenders has been activated.
A new awakening message floated before my eyes.
“Connector?”
“Why do you look so surprised?”
I stared at the confused man with wide eyes.
This message appeared because of him.
And its contents were far from ordinary.
“A great figure from a failed timeline…?”
I examined the weary man with renewed interest.
The bicorne hat resting casually on his head. The sword at his waist. The blue and white military uniform.
Now that I looked closely, his appearance seemed oddly familiar.
Like I’d seen it somewhere before…
“May I inquire about your name?”
“Napoleon Bonaparte.”
“…”
My curiosity shop’s first customer.
The hero who led the French Revolution to victory.
The legendary Conqueror Emperor, ‘Napoleon.’
