Beauty and the Beasts: A Forbidden Love in a Mythical

Chapter 32: The Breath of the Devil (Part 7)

In the darkness, a series of sounds like silver bells, as beautiful as the music of the heavens, drifted down.

DuGu Lue carried Wan Ou as if she were a pet. Wherever his green eyes passed, he clearly memorized the route and the structural diagram.

Stumbling as she followed in his footsteps, Wan Ou went from the crystal-clear environment into the dark passage all of a sudden. She simply couldn't get used to it, yet she had no strength to defeat him. All she could do was follow closely and keep walking with him.

"Prince!" Qi Xuan and the others, who had been sitting on the ground to regulate their breath, stood up when they heard the sound of the bells and bowed respectfully.

DuGu Lue nodded. "There is a water source due south of the Crystal Palace. Let's all go and replenish our strength."

A clear spring was right in front of them, hidden beneath the lush water plants.

Hungry and thirsty, Wan Ou broke free from DuGu Lue's grasp and quickly scooped up the water with her hands to drink. Qi Xuan picked a lotus leaf and served DuGu Lue first, and then the soldiers took turns coming forward to get water to drink.

She had long heard that the soldiers he led were among the best in the five kingdoms of the Central Plains. Even when it came to drinking water in the imperial mausoleum, they followed the proper order. She really couldn't fathom how profound he was and what his true nature was hidden beneath his demonic exterior.

There was no food to satisfy their hunger. In such a dire situation, Wan Ou knew that only this spring of water could save their lives. While she was still looking around to survey the terrain, DuGu Lue had already given the order: "Follow the direction of the water flow. When encountering stones, break them; when meeting soil, dig through it. That will be the exit of the imperial mausoleum."

How clever DuGu Lue was! Wan Ou had once read about mystery explorations in encyclopedias. When trapped in a maze or a secret room, the first thing to do was to find a water source, and then following the flow of the underground water source would surely lead to an exit. She was originally intelligent, but after encountering DuGu Lue, she was constantly violated by him, and her anger had made her lose her rationality and unable to think calmly.

"But if we do this, the Crystal Palace will be destroyed..."

Before Qi Xuan could finish speaking, DuGu Lue interrupted him. "I've always hated living with them. It's even better if it's destroyed now."

The first obstacle blocking the direction of the water flow was DuGu Lue's mausoleum, the Crystal Palace. No wonder he had humiliated her in the Crystal Palace. It turned out that he wasn't just humiliating her; he was also commemorating his lost tomb.

He roughly pulled Wan Ou up from the ground. "Come on. I'm giving you a chance for revenge. Let's go and destroy the Crystal Palace."

"I can walk by myself." Struggling, the tinkling sound of the bells rang out along the way. It was no longer a pleasant sound but a sound filled with resentment and anger. The devil had known what to do all along, yet she had been foolishly played by him in his hands.

With a cold snort, DuGu Lue sneered, "Aren't you afraid of ghosts?"

"Yes, I'm afraid of ghosts." Wan Ou stubbornly shook off his restraint and looked at him seriously. "But I've realized that you're scarier than ghosts. If I could choose, I'd rather stay with ghosts than be with you, a big bastard who looks human but is worse than a devil."

His cold eyes fixed on her, and there was a trace of a smile on his lips. "It seems that I, this devil, am too merciful. You actually still have the strength to stand here and curse me..."

Before he could finish speaking, Wan Ou felt something hard pressing against her from below.
