Chapter 46: Chapter 46: Acquiring The Book!
Landing atop a golden statue of Everlue, I waited until the last second before leaping away, evading an attack from one of the Vanish brothers and causing them to destroy the statue. 'Hmph, servers the bastard, right; how dare he call Lucy ugly.' Nodding with a smile, I landed at the top of the stairs while glancing at one of the Vanish brothers dashing up the stairs, only for me to lean forward, dodging a frying pan from behind. Falling to the ground, dodging the second Vanish brother, I pushed myself into the air and dug my nails into the ceiling. 'How long has it been? It feels like hours.'
"How long have we been fighting for?" I was hoping one of the Vanish brothers would give me a response, but all I got was a frying pan thrown my way, prompting me to fall to the ground at the bottom of the stairs while I observed the damage our 'fight' caused. "Hmm, not bad; I would prefer more, but I don't want to continue wasting my time; this is incredibly boring." Outstretching my hand, catching the frying pan, I swung it at the incoming brothers and tossed it towards them.
"Alright, let's get this over with; I've got a little sister to check on." Cracking my knuckles, I gazed at the two brothers, who got pissed at my nonchalant behavior, which was understandable as they hadn't been able to touch me. "You fucker! C'mon, brother, let's show this mage our special move!" "You've got it, bro!" Performing some weird moves, the two brothers lunged at me while extending their fists toward me, causing me to outstretch my hand before opening two fingers as I stopped their attack, shocking them. Slightly pushing them back, I grabbed their heads and violently slammed them together, knocking the two brothers unconscious.
Dusting my hands off, I left the left portion of the mansion and followed after Lucy, though along the way, the hideous maids I had knocked out earlier had awoken, prompting me to knock them once more while continuing to follow Lucy's scent. Along the way, I entered a library, where Lucy's scent was the strongest, but unfortunately, no Lucy; tapping my chin, I did a quick walk around the library, where I found a hole leading into the sewer, one that was made using magic, causing me to slightly frown.
Leaping down the hole, avoiding the sewage, I walked along the pathway, though I could not follow Lucy's scent given the horrid stench. 'Is it weird that this isn't my first time in the sewers?' Turning to the left, I suddenly came across Lucy's pouch lying on the ground, causing me to narrow my eyes as I picked it up, only to faintly hear Lucy and a man's voice. Clicking my tongue, I sped up and dashed through the sewer, only to see Lucy holding her Aquarius key at Everlue, who had just summoned his own celestial spirit using a golden key. "Haha, I, too, am a Celestial spirit Mage! Virgo!"
Appearing directly in front of Everlue might've been the most hideous woman I'd ever laid eyes on, which was saying something as I'd seen Porlyusica. 'Ugh, freaking disgusting.' Virgo was an ugly, muscular woman wearing a maid outfit, one that would've made me vomit if I hadn't already seen the guild Master of Lamia scale. "Oi, Lucy, catch." Tossing Lucy's pouch over Virgo, she caught her pouch and quickly summoned Taurus instead of Aquarius, causing me to click my tongue as I stood behind Everlue. "Tsk, so you've got a partner? I'll quickly take care of you! Virgo, kill this man!" Stated Everlue as he swiftly turned around and pointed at me before leaping into the ceiling, using earth magic to swim upwards through solid ground.
With Everlue avoiding the battle, I glanced at Virgo, who faced me, only to swiftly appear behind Lucy, causing her, Virgo, and Taurus to be filled with confusion. "H-How the heck did you get behind me, big bro?" Asked Lucy as she gave me a startled look while shifting her gaze to Virgo, who was now lunging towards us. "I'll tell you later. Just focus on winning this fight; I already beat my opponents, so now it's your turn." Giving Lucy an encouraging pat on the shoulder, I stepped back, watching her and Taurus fight against Virgo; granted, Lucy was hardly doing anything; still, she helped where she could and didn't just leave Taurus to do all the work by himself.
However, Taurus received a powerful attack that knocked him into the sewage, and while it seemed he didn't care too much, which was disgusting, Lucy surely did. "U-Ugh, s-sorry Taurus, but you stink, return! Cancer!" Using Taurus's golden key, she returned him to the celestial spirit realm before grabbing another key and summoning Cancer, who mainly looked just like a normal dude holding scissors, except for the six crab legs sprouting from his back. "Ah, Lucy, how can I help?" Asked Cancer with a relaxed expression as he looked at Lucy, who quickly pointed to the charging Virgo. "Help me defeat her!" Lucy's words prompted Cancer to nod while the two continued the battle with an injured Virgo, which ended up with us leaving the sewer and arriving in the middle of the mansion, where the fight continued for a bit longer, though eventually Lucy and Cancer defeated Virgo.
"W-We won!" Said Lucy with a victorious smile as she hopped in place, only to plop onto her butt in exhaustion. Approaching Lucy, who seemed to have used a significant amount of magic power despite merely summoning two celestial spirits, I watched Cancer and Virgo dissipate into a bunch of particles while I offered Lucy a thumbs up, causing her to smile weakly. "T-That was r-rather exciting." "Well, at least someone is having fun; I've never been so bored out of my mind. Even without using magic, I can't face even a slight challenge." Forcefully smiling, I grabbed Lucy's hand and hoisted her onto her feet while she leaned against me for support.
"Did you ever find that book?" "Yeah, I even read most of it, and rather than a book, it stated all the terrible and corrupt things Everluse forced Zekua Melon to do!" Stated Lucy angrily while I nodded, pretending to know who Zekua Melon was. "Where's the book now, then?" "It should be in my pou– it's not there. Shit! Everluse has it! We've got to get it before he destroys it!" Yelled Lucy anxiously as she pushed off me and ran through the building, only for me to appear in front of her before punching the wall, creating a path through the wall. "Everluse is this way, Lucy."
Taking the lead, I crashed through every wall while Lucy followed right behind me, only to arrive at the scene of Everluse standing in front of a fireplace with a book. "Haha, you're too late! Now that I know what's on here, I can't, let alone have it!" Said Everluse with a grin as he tossed the book into the fireplace, though I caught it just in time while sitting in the corner. "The book is safe, Lucy." My words caused Lucy to sigh in relief while Everluse gazed at me with such intensity that his fat face turned red, though because of that, he failed to notice Lucy sprinting toward him.
"You bully! Take this! Lucy kick!" Said Lucy as she kicked Everluse in the back of his head, causing him to hit the ground before falling unconscious. "Hmph, he should've stayed alert, right, big bro?" Asked Lucy with a confident grin as she placed her hands on her hips while glancing at me, though I was too shocked at what had just occurred. "D-Did you just yell the name of your attack while attacking?" Staring wide-eyed at Lucy, who sheepishly nodded while tapping her fingers together. "I-I saw Natsu do it, s-so I thought I could do the same." "Natsu's an idiot, and secondly, he does so to remind himself of Igneel, whom I've got a bone to pick with! How dare he abandon my little brother! I'll rip his scales off!"
Shaking my head, disappointed at Lucy for already being influenced by Natsu, a renowned dummy in Fairy Tail, I clenched my fist while thinking of the day I'd beat Igneel until he's blue and make him apologize to Natsu for leaving him. However, I quickly cooled off and tossed the book to Lucy. "C'mon, let's go complete our mission; I want to return home. Hmm, maybe I should pick up some cake for Erza along the way." Standing up, I punched the wall leading outside and left the mage behind, only to snap my fingers before turning around and nearing Everluse while passing Lucy. "Eh, what are you doing, big bro?" "He's got the Virgo key, right? It would be better in your hands."
Lifting Everluse, I searched his body before tossing Virgo's key to Lucy, who surprisingly shook her head. "Sorry, but that's not how contracts work, big bro; unless Everluse dies or breaks the contract himself, I can't take the key. Though thanks for thinking, it's the thought that counts, right?" Said Lucy with a wry smile as she handed the key back to me and gave me a thumbs up before turning around, while I glanced at Everluse.
'It's one thing to kill a bunch of dark mages, but killing someone like Everluse will put more pressure on Fairy Tail; but, luckily for him, killing him ain't the only wait.' Smirking, I placed Virgo's key in my pocket before glancing at Lucy, who was leaving the estate through the initial entrance I made. "I'll catch up with you later, Lucy; I've unfinished business here." Lucy didn't question why I decided to stay behind and just nodded, prompting me to clench my fist as I forcefully awakened Everluse. "Now, we can do this the hard way, or the harder way…"
