Bastard Son of Immortal

Chapter 37: Knight of the Order: Perun!

William and Immortal flew into the GDA HQ, their clothing battered and torn, and landed in the hangar.

Many agents were moving about as if in preparation for something, and a large ship was parked inside.

"I guess the mission went well?" He asked Immortal, whose eyes seemed to darken at the mention of the ill-fated mission.

"No!" One word was all he said as he walked forward, stunning William for a second before he followed behind.

"Well now I feel like a dick!" He let out an inaudible chuckle and saw Immortal stop at a door and, upon opening, he saw Marie flying above the ground surrounded by thousands of small drones, each one firing an optical laser that smashed into her with the force of an intercontinental missile.

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

She angrily thrust the flat of her hand against the drone's optical lenses, passing through it like it was made of paper and causing the drone to suddenly erupt in a show of light that also did nothing to Marie.

Her trip to Mars had left its mark on her mentally, clear signs of ptsd being displayed in her rage-fueled rampage.

Slicing one in half with a chop, Marie finally noticed William and Immortal standing in the doorway and watching her disassemble these drones with malicious intent.

"Have they been here long?" Her face began to flush with embarrassment.

"HEY MARIE, I HAVE A SPARRING PARTNER FOR YOU, HE SHOULD DO BETTER THAN THESE DRONES, DON'T YOU THINK?" Immortal's voice was loud and echoed through the massive room with a volume that would cause an avalanche in any snowcapped mountain.

Marie eyed William and remembered their last battle in which she quite handily dominated him despite his feral state, and nodded.

"I'll take it easier on him this time, given that he is not trying to kill me this time!" She thought before nodding in affirmation.

Immortal nods back before clapping William on the back, "Good luck, kiddo!"

William was caught off guard by the sudden push and was thrown towards Marie, who had already taken a combat stance.

Spinning in the air to correct himself, he meets Marie's fist with his own with a force that sends a wave of kinetic force outward from the point of impact.

RUMBLE!

Outside the room, Immortal could hear the sounds of battle going on inside and smiled internally, his face remaining a mask of neutrality.

"The new generation of heroes will truly be something special!"

Immortal was proud of himself for having the forethought to build a massive training room within the base; he had no clue how they were able to compress the space into such a small room, though.

From the outside of the room, it appeared to be the size of a medium-sized office, but when you open it up, it was like a small world roughly the same size as Colorado, giving whoever trained within plenty of room to work with while at the same time preventing environmental damage.

"Had better prepare myself as well, can't let these zealous bastards run loose in Chicago!" Thinking this, he moved towards the armory to equip himself.

Back inside the training room.

Marie landed a hard punch on William's stomach, causing him to spit out a mouthful of blood before he countered with a backhand that sent Marie spinning with her ears ringing.

"Holy shit!"

His increase in strength rivaled and nearly surpassed her own, as a Viltrumite who was supposed to be one of the strongest species in the universe. This surprised her immensely, and she was unable to react when a fist appeared in her vision.

POW!

She was blasted backward with such force that multiple circular rings formed around her as she flew.

BOOM!

She crashed into a nearby mountain, becoming embedded deep within its surface in a borderline comical human-shaped hole.

RUMBLE...

The ground shook, and William, who was still in the air, had yet to notice until the mountain Marie had smashed into began to rise off the surface of the planet.

"Don't do it!" William says, his eyes firm and a slight orange glow deep within.

Marie smiled and raised the mountain higher, "Imma do it!"

The mountain was blotting out the sun when it reached its maximum height.

"Don't do...." He is cut off when the mountain comes crashing down on top of him, and he only manages to put his arms up before the rocky surface smashes into him.

BOOOM!

The ground shook as if a meteor had been dropped from orbit, and William was buried so deep he was hitting bedrock.

The mountain sticking out of the ground like god's thumb suddenly began to shake, and in a sight that caused Marie to smile madly, her Viltrumite battle lust showed itself for the first time since she had gotten her powers.

William rose from the pit he was in, causing the mountain to collapse around him.

What truly surprised her was not the fact that he was able to come out but that he was practically unharmed.

His clothes were torn to shreds, leaving the bare minimum covering his most important bits, his facial expression was neutral but his ominously glowing orange eyes made it clear that he was rather pissed.

"I told you not to do it!"

The ground directly under William suddenly erupted, and Marie was unable to react in time when a flying knee hit her square in her abdomen.

"HOOO!"

The blow had knocked the wind out of her lungs, causing her to bend forward a bit while clutching her stomach.

BOOOM!

Without mercy, William struck her with a two-handed hammer fist, which sent Marie careening towards the ground at a speed that nearly shattered some records.

RUMBLE!

The ground shook for miles, and entire areas began to shift as if an actual earthquake was taking place, and a massive plume of dust formed overhead, blocking out the sun.

"Now, what did we learn?" William says as the orange glow in his eyes dimmed somewhat with his rage.

Boulders suddenly emerge from within the dust cloud and are launched towards William, and with a confident smirk on his face, he begins punching them, his great strength being more than enough for these large boulders, but before his fist smashes into the last one.

CRACK!

BOOM!

Marie used the boulders to disguise her approach and waited until the opportune moment to hit him when he least expected it, and her immensely powerful punch smashed into William's face so hard that his brain rattled around in his skull.

It was only because William could heal that he was not put into a coma, and that fact caused his anger to soar higher than it's ever been.

"She is supposed to be my teammate! What the hell is her fucking problem!" His anger flares, and the orange flame in his eyes suddenly expands outside his irises and envelopes his entire eyeball.

Marie was already in the midst of throwing a punch towards William's head, and she thought that the fight would soon be over when William suddenly stepped back and grabbed her by the arm.

WHOOSH!

Orange colored flames erupted from his eyes and enveloped half his face, with the flame half appearing as if it were a demon straight from hell.

He had no idea why these flames appeared or their true nature, but he was not going to complain; after all, it was his power.

"You fucked up!"

Before she could respond, William jerked her in an arc over his head and smashed her into the ground with so much force that the ground around them collapsed into rubble.

BOOM!

He does it again, causing the ground to begin opening up, and a pool of magma begins to flow forth, turning the once lush area into a hellscape in moments.

From one such pool of magma, a feminine figure erupted into the sky towards William and smashed into his jaw with her fist with an uppercut straight from the bowels of hell that nearly knocked the flames off of William's face.

BOOOOM!

BOOM!

BOOOOOOM!

BOOOOM!

The two began to brawl relentlessly back and forth, neither giving an inch, but a demonic smile stretched across both of their faces.

Both of them could not help but think simultaneously, "This is so much fucking fun!"

While a legendary sparring match that would make anyone from early DBZ blush was going on, hooded figures who seemed to be one with the darkness stealthily moved through the hallways of the GDA HQ.

Unfortunately, in their wake was a series of bodies of the poor agents who happened to be on duty at the moment.

Not even a sound had escaped their lips before their throats were slit open and their life blood poured out onto the once clean linoleum floor.

In the rear, walking at a leisurely pace, was the Knight of the Order who wielded the mythical hammer of Perun who was swinging it around like it was weightless and held an arrogant and overconfident look on his tanned face.

BZZZT

Gold lightning arced through the hammer and into the arm of the Knight, and suddenly he threw the hammer down the hallway, and a GDA agent who was attempting to hide within a pile of his associates' bodies was blasted into pieces along with the bodies surrounding him.

"HAHAHAHAHAHA" His menacing laughter echoed through the halls, even frightening his men.

"Sir!" An inquisitor that was a little more on the tech-savvy side ran up to the Knight and whispered something into his ear.

The smile that was previously on his face returned with a vengeance.

"Show me now!" He ordered in a commanding tone, causing the inquisitor to snap to attention and immediately begin moving.

The Inquisitor brought the Knight into a room with a bunch of monitors, dead bodies of GDA agents strewn about like garbage.

On the screen, the Knight saw what appeared to be a bird-eye view of the inside of a massive state-sized room, and what he saw going on inside that massive room caused his battle lust to flare up like a raging fire.

CRACKLE!

As if responding in kind to its master's feelings, the hammer in his hand buzzed with golden lightning, causing the Inquisitor to fall back in fright.

"Let's go dance with the devil, shall we?"

Back inside the training room, the battle intensity had increased to an explosive level, with every blow sending them shooting across the entirety of the room before one of them would slam into a barrier, only to repeat the process on the other end.

William had managed to gain a finer level of control over his strange flames by focusing them on his eyes, which now glowed ominously as if the sun itself was just behind the surface.

By focusing his flames on his eyes, not only could he perceive minor changes in Marie's body language, but his reaction times decreased immensely, allowing him to counter otherwise powerful blows.

While William was gaining mastery over his strange abilities, Marie was slowly becoming a more proficient fighter with every blow landing harder and sharper than the last.

BOOOOM!

Their fists met, and an eruption of force swept out and carved a massive hole in the cloud cover around them.

"She is stronger!" He thought.

"He is faster!" She thought as his hands suddenly whipped at her.

William grabbed Marie by the wrists and began spinning in the air and reaching a speed that would make anyone dizzy, before launching her towards a distant rock formation.

BOOOM!

The rock formation begins to collapse in on itself and on top of Marie, but she would not be defeated quite so easily.

RUMBLE!

With her muscles tensed to the max, she dug her hands into the base of a stable part of the formation and began lifting it above her.

Suddenly, she flew towards William and swung the spire like a baseball bat, shattering it in the process, but also shattering the bones in William's body as he flew backward like a puppet whose strings were cut.

"HYAK!"

A fountain of blood that had a strange orange shimmer to it sprayed out of his mouth and created a line as he flew backward.

BAAM... RUMBLE!

William smashed into a large boulder before sliding to a stop, his body carving a rather deep trench in his wake.

Blood dripped from his lips as his head was lowered, and his expression was dark.

The scene before her caused Marie to pause, but remembering just who she was fighting, she knew not to let her guard down just because he was down.

Suddenly, Marie's eyes shot open.

Out of the corner of her eyes, she could see someone approaching from a distance.

"Hmmm, did Immortal come back?" However, this thought was immediately dashed to pieces when she saw similar figures a certain distance from one another.

Her head snapped around in a circle, and she could see these strange people a certain distance away from each other.

"We are surrounded, but by whom?" She thought as the golden glow around these strange men expanded to completely envelope the area within their circle.

CRACKLE!

From the sky above Marie a golden bolt of lightning fell from the clouds and straight towards Marie, but she managed to dodge it at the last possible moment.

BOOOM!

The lightning explodes like a miniature nuke, causing the typical mushroom cloud to appear over the field of battle.
