Chapter 359: A Baby Dragon
Daniel felt for a moment like he had misheard. His gaze fell on the egg — and what he saw shocked him.
The egg was completely broken!
A small tail, exactly like a dragon's tail, pushed aside the pieces of the eggshell, and slowly, a tiny head emerged.
From where he was standing, it was clear what it was — a dragon hatchling, a baby dragon that had just been born! Right in front of his eyes.
And what was even stranger was that the baby dragon's gaze was fixed on him, as if it had recognized him as its parent. With pleading eyes, it was as if it was calling out to him.
Daniel wanted to ignore it, but in the end, he sighed and walked toward it to take a closer look.
"Agah gabo gaa bagdag?" The baby dragon made some funny, nonsensical sounds, but they were cute and lovely.
"So this is a baby dragon," he muttered to himself while examining it. He had never expected to see a baby dragon in this auction.
It looked exactly like the hatchling dragons he had seen in pictures — except its scales were exceptionally beautiful, a shade of purple with streaks of gold and black.
Its eyes were completely golden and looked stunning.
"My god… how is this possible?"
While inspecting the baby dragon's body, he noticed something that almost made him have a heart attack — the power circulating inside it.
It had just been born, and yet… it was freaking Rank A!
How was it possible for a creature that had just been born to already be Rank A? Since when did the system work like this — being one of the strongest right from birth?
"This is an absolute cheat. Now I understand why dragons are the strongest race in the world." He didn't know how to react, but honestly, he really felt jealous.
He had worked so hard and still hadn't reached Rank A, yet this hatchling's only achievement was being born.
"So… what do I do with it?" he murmured to himself. Naturally, he wasn't stupid enough to try to grab it and run — not when the Heavenly Kings' attention was on this exact spot.
The moment they realized the dragon egg wasn't here, they'd come after him.
And honestly, he doubted he could escape from those ancient, powerful beings. They'd probably find him in less than a few minutes.
Even so, the baby dragon kept looking at him like it was looking at its father. It obviously couldn't speak properly yet, but if it could, it would definitely call him "Papa."
On top of that, with such pure feelings shining in those beautiful eyes, leaving it behind was really hard.
"Wait… why do I feel such strong emotions toward this hatchling?" Daniel frowned as he realized something.
He had just met this baby dragon — why should he care so much about what would happen to it if he left? And why did he like it so much?
It didn't make any sense…
With a deeper frown, he stared directly into the hatchling's eyes — and then realized what was going on.
"This baby dragon is manipulating emotions without even knowing it," he said with awe and wonder.
He had never expected a newborn creature to be able to so easily bypass all the defenses of his mind and manipulate his feelings like this.
And most likely, it was purely subconscious, with no real intention behind it.
Was this the power of dragons?
The baby dragon looked at Daniel with confusion but also kindness, clearly wanting to be held. But the person in front of it was just giving it a strange look.
Of course, Daniel didn't know what it wanted — he just didn't feel like getting into trouble with the Heavenly Kings. He only wanted to leave.
"Sorry, kid, but I can't take you with me. As much as I want to… I don't want to cause another disaster for myself," he said with a sigh.
He wasn't afraid of the Heavenly Kings. After all, they were in this world and couldn't directly come after him — but that didn't mean they couldn't completely ruin his life.
They could easily hire mercenaries from his own world to hunt him down.
And that would be the least of his problems. If the rumor spread that he had a dragon egg, every continent — and even the dragon race itself — would come after him.
The baby dragon seemed to understand the meaning behind the words of the being in front of it. Tears slowly welled up in its eyes, as if it could feel it was being abandoned.
A strange feeling of loneliness wrapped around it. Did its family not want it?
Dragons are the beloved children of the heavens and time itself. From the moment they are born, they have wisdom and intelligence beyond any other creature, along with certain instinctive knowledge.
The first person they see is, to them, the most important figure in their life — the one who brought them into this world and the one they must follow.
And now, its "mother" was leaving it… how could it not be sad?
Daniel felt a pang of guilt seeing this, but there was no other choice.
However, before he could activate Fallen Step, he failed — as if something was preventing him from doing it.
He looked at the baby dragon, but quickly realized that it wasn't the cause — it felt like the entire continent was shaking, like the entire world was trembling in fear.
Activating his spiritual senses, he looked toward the sky outside the palace — the sky was completely split in half, and all the Heavenly Kings were trembling in terror.
It was as if some unspeakable, taboo existence had arrived here. A majestic, noble aura, the greatest among all the heavens and earth, locked down the entire continent.
From the split sky, a massive figure slowly emerged. The moment they saw its body, the Heavenly Kings swallowed hard in fear.
These ancient beings who had stood at the peak of the world for centuries… were once again feeling fear.
A dragon… had appeared.
