Chapter 9: Breakthrough and Beyond
Chapter: Breakthrough and Beyond
|"You have broken through to the 9th level of the Elementary Realm."|
Ye Min's eyes widened in disbelief. "What the heck? How did my cultivation rise so quickly?" After a moment of contemplation, he smirked. "Of course! It makes sense. I modified my potential, so this is just the natural effect of my hard work." He said this shamelessly, not bothering to acknowledge that he hadn't exerted much effort to achieve this breakthrough.
Just as he began to revel in his success, the golden status lit up again, displaying a new message.
| Congratulations! You are the first cultivator to modify the technique to its perfection. You have obtained a Mid-grade artifact. Do you want to claim it now? |
"What?!" Ye Min exclaimed, his shock quickly replaced by excitement. He composed himself, reasoning, "This is just like those other main characters with a system. Of course, I would achieve something like this!"
Without wasting another moment, he declared, "Claim my reward!"

"Wow, this is perfect! Now I have a great sword," Ye Min said, a gleam of mischief in his eyes. "But hmm… how about I modify this sword too?" With a burst of determination, he grabbed his father’s old hammer and began working on the rapier.
---
Clang! Clang!
For two hours, the rhythmic sound of metal striking metal echoed in his workshop. Finally, Ye Min stepped back, wiping sweat from his brow. He had finished modifying the sword, enhancing its strength and replacing the runes with his perfected designs.
"It's done! Now let’s see what I’ve created," he said, excitement coursing through him. He focused on the rapier and scanned it with his newfound abilities.

"Whoa! A legendary pill! This is the kind of treasure those lunatic cultivators would kill for!" Ye Min laughed, a wild gleam in his eyes. "Now I don’t have to worry about my breakthrough at all." He reveled in the astonishing turn of events, feeling invincible.
After taking a moment to organize his thoughts, Ye Min placed the rapier in a secure spot, planning to retrieve it later. He tucked the Spirit Ascendance Pill into his pouch, then shifted his focus to his next objective: learning the new sword technique he had just unlocked.
Moments later, he retrieved the technique manual and flipped through its pages, eager to absorb the information.
| You have learned the Spectral Reaper Slash Version 2 |Level1|
"Wow, I didn’t expect to learn it with just a glance! Is this the effect of upgrading my potential?" Ye Min wondered aloud, his mind racing with possibilities.
Minutes later, an urge to test the technique surged within him. Just as he was about to practice, he overheard his father and siblings chatting a few meters away.
"Oh no! I need to hide my Qi!" Ye Min thought, panic setting in. "Tch, my spiritual energy is leaking because of my sudden breakthrough! I need to conceal this quickly." He quickly focused, suppressing his energy, and used his modifying skills to repair the cracks in the walls of their home, ensuring everything looked normal.
Despite his eagerness to showcase his newfound strength, Ye Min knew he had to remain cautious. He didn’t want anyone taking advantage of him in this perilous cultivation world.
A few moments later, his younger sister Ye Lin and brother Ye Tian entered the room, followed closely by their father, Ye Jun.
"Big brother, are you there?" Ye Lin called, her voice cheerful.
"Yes, Lin’er! What do you need?" Ye Min replied, adopting a calm demeanor to avoid arousing suspicion.
Ye Tian scanned the room, noticing the absence of cracks on the walls. "Big brother, did you fix those cracks?" he asked, his brow furrowing in confusion.
"I did fix it. Is that a problem?" Ye Min responded innocently, maintaining his composure.
"No, it’s actually a good thing! Thanks, big brother! I was planning to ask Father to renovate my room since it also had cracks from the earthquake. Now that it’s fixed, I don’t need to worry," Ye Lin said, her eyes sparkling with gratitude. Ye Tian shrugged, focused more on the upcoming trial than on the state of their house.
Ye Jun remained silent, walking straight to the kitchen to prepare dinner. He glanced at Ye Tian, his expression a mix of hope and concern.
"Okay, I’m tired. I’m going to rest early; I won’t be eating dinner, so you can enjoy it without me," Ye Min said, feigning fatigue as he headed towards his bedroom.
Ye Tian and Ye Lin exchanged glances but said nothing, simply nodding before returning to their conversation.
Hours later, as the family gathered for dinner, Ye Jun's gaze remained fixed on Ye Tian. The younger sibling sensed the intensity of their father's stare and spoke up. "What’s wrong, Father? Do you have something to say?"
"Ye Tian, do you think you can survive the trials?" Ye Jun asked, concern evident in his voice. Ye Lin, surprised by the sudden seriousness of the conversation, chose to remain silent, observing intently.
"Hmph! Father, do you think I have no chance of winning?" Ye Tian replied, irritation creeping into his tone.
"No, that’s not what I mean. I just want to stress the importance of not underestimating those cultivators. You have no idea what trump cards they may possess," Ye Jun warned, his concern for his children clear.
Ye Tian nodded, understanding her father’s worry. "I know, Father. While my talent may not be as exaggerated as those geniuses, I will still overwhelm them with my trump cards! Hehehe!" she declared confidently.
Ye Min, listening from his room, couldn't help but smile at their banter. In this world, the stakes were high, but he was determined to carve out his own path, armed with his modified techniques and newfound power.
