Awakening Kryptonian Bloodline In Marvel.

Chapter 69: Chapter 69: A bond didn't need years to form, just the right moment, or the right person.

"Malrick!" a voice called from inside the police station.

Jill Valentine, still wearing her signature blue denim vest, stepped through the door.

Behind her were Brad Vickers and Carlos Oliveira.

"Jill?" Malrick blinked in surprise. He hadn't expected to see her here.

"Thank you, Malrick!" Before he could speak, Jill ran to him and wrapped him in a tight hug.

From a distance, Ada Wong, who had been unpacking a crate and preparing to load an antiviral bomb, paused and looked over. Her expression remained neutral, but her eyes flickered with a subtle heaviness.

After a few seconds, Jill pulled back.

"I didn't expect you to save Brad," she said, a little breathless. "He was infected while trying to cover me. I… I can't even begin to thank you."

Malrick gave a modest wave. "It's fine. Just doing my part. The priority's saving the people of Raccoon City."

He'd already heard enough gratitude for one day. And honestly, if they kept going like this, the station might start feeling more like a fan club than a resistance base.

He changed the subject quickly. "So, Jill—why are you here?"

"I came looking for you. I figured if anyone could save this city, it'd be you. I want to help."

She glanced around. "When I arrived, it was just Brad here, so I went out to search for more survivors. I didn't expect to run into you this soon."

There was more in her eyes than words—things she clearly wanted to say but hadn't yet found the right time.

Before she could speak again, Ada walked up.

"Boss, when are we leaving?" she asked, interrupting smoothly.

"Boss?" Jill blinked, surprised. "Wait, aren't you from another world? Is she from your world too?"

"Definitely not," Ada replied before Malrick could. "I'm Ada Wong. Former federal agent. Currently working for him."

Ada stood close beside Malrick, casually claiming space that made Jill's brow twitch slightly.

"I've had a lot of names," Ada added. "Ada Wong is just one of them."

"What was your original name?" Malrick asked, intrigued. In his past life, even in the games, Ada had always been an enigma—her background a mystery.

"It doesn't matter. When I met you, I was Ada. That's who I'll be from now on."

Her words silenced the room. Everyone turned to look.

Marvin and the others were stunned. Bud seemed thoughtful. Sherry looked confused. Jill just stared, slightly taken aback.

At that moment, Jarvis's voice rang discreetly in Malrick's earpiece.

"Sir, per Mr. Stark's prior instructions: remain cautious when strangers make sudden emotional commitments."

The high-frequency sound was only detectable to Malrick's enhanced hearing.

He couldn't help but chuckle and mutter, "That nosy Tony… meddling across worlds again."

"Tony?" Ada asked, her expression faltering at the name drop.

"Just someone from my world," Malrick said quickly. "Anyway… thank you, Ada. I appreciate it."

But something in her eyes had changed. The mood between them wasn't quite the same.

"Tony must mean a lot to you," Jill teased. "Or maybe Ada just reminds you of him?"

Ada turned to Jill. Their eyes locked. Neither of them said anything, but there was an unspoken tension in the air.

"Ahem! That's enough chit-chat!" Marvin suddenly barked. "Let's get moving, people! We've got a city to save!"

The room burst back into motion.

---

Ten minutes later.

Everyone was geared up, split into teams of three, and left the station to distribute vaccines across Raccoon City.

Malrick didn't join the ground teams.

Instead, he flew above the city, Sherry riding on his back, as he unleashed waves of freezing breath along the outskirts.

Jarvis coordinated the teams on the ground. Their orders were simple:

Throw vaccines when encountering civilians.

Use antiviral bombs when facing infected.

The antiviral bombs were scatter munitions. Upon detonation, they unleashed a cloud of fine serum-filled needles that pierced into zombies and neutralized them within moments.

The airborne vaccine, once released, evaporated and spread over a wide area, allowing anyone exposed to produce natural antibodies.

From above, Malrick's icy breath swept across the skyline, transforming the city's surface into a glistening frost field.

Zombies froze mid-motion, their cells rupturing as sharp ice shards formed within their bodies.

Frozen solid, they fell still—already dead before they hit the ground.

Zombies hidden inside buildings were left for cleanup teams.

---

Thanks to the new vaccine and serum, everything progressed smoothly.

But the efficiency of the civilian teams remained low.

Two hours later, cleanup crews returned to the police station.

By then, Malrick had already returned to the institute for decontamination.

Back in the station lobby, faces were glowing with relief and celebration.

The Raccoon City Rescue Plan had succeeded.

The world consciousness, however, remained silent. No new "gifts" or boons were sent. Apparently, the salvation of a small city didn't merit cosmic applause.

"Malrick, you saved this city!" Marvin and Jill approached him, grateful voices echoing behind them.

There were thousands of survivors now gathered in the station—many had come from the outskirts once they heard the news.

When they saw the man responsible, they cheered. His name echoed through the halls, shaking the rafters.

Malrick wasn't one for speeches.

He simply raised a hand and said, "You're the real heroes."

That was enough.

---

Thirty minutes later, with the survivors settled, Marvin, Jill, and the others met in the conference room.

Malrick got right to it.

"I'll be leaving soon—back to my world."

A few people stirred in alarm, but he motioned for silence.

"Don't worry. I'll be back. This trip is just to check the time-flow difference between worlds and make sure I'm not gone too long over there."

"Before I go, I'll leave Jarvis behind. He'll assist you with anything you need."

"He also has all the evidence we gathered against Umbrella. When the time is right, release it online."

"Also... prepare for evacuation. Umbrella used Raccoon City as a testing ground, and I doubt the government—or anyone—will want that evidence getting out. If they find out what really happened here... they might level the city to cover it up."

"Don't miss me too much," he added with a small grin. "I'll be back."

People chuckled, but no one really wanted him to go.

Sometimes, a bond didn't need years to form—just the right moment, or the right person.

"Are you really coming back?" Ada asked, stepping forward. "I haven't even been paid yet."

Malrick pulled her into a light hug. "Does that count as payment?"

"Not even close," Ada whispered. She trailed a finger down his chest with a smirk. "But that's a good down payment, big guy."

Malrick rolled his eyes and snapped his fingers. "Jarvis, coordinate operations while I'm gone. Back everyone up as needed."

He knelt and touched Sherry's head gently.

"Be good, alright? Listen to Ada and Jill."

He hugged each of them one last time, then waved to the group.

"Goodbye, everyone."

He closed his eyes, activating his interdimensional travel.

No searching was needed.

In the chaotic void, a glowing bubble representing the Marvel world emerged—his original timeline.

Beyond it floated a sea of other universes, shrouded in shadow.

He chose the return route and paid the same cost as before.

And just like that...

Malrick vanished.

No fanfare. No bright flashes.

He was simply gone.

---

Silence lingered in his wake.

"…Honestly, I already miss him," Marvin muttered, breaking the hush.

"He never lied to us. Never led us astray. If that's the kind of savior this world gets... we're lucky."

Jill added, "Did you know we had a new rookie scheduled to arrive at the station yesterday?"

"Yeah," Elliot nodded. "Name was Malrick S. Kennedy."

He laughed. "I thought Malrick was the guy at first."

"Wonder what happened to the real one. Hopefully, he's okay."

"Maybe he'll be another hero worth cheering for someday."
