chapter 20: Tournament begins
"After my relaxing holiday, while waiting for the main tournament to begin, it finally started as I entered the grand Colosseum. What a grand sight it was, far larger and more majestic than any other colosseum. I could see my first opponent. We were both given bracelets charged by the Colosseum staff. I put mine on, waiting for the signal to begin. The moment the fight started, I unfurled my wings, taking to the sky and attacking the enemy with miniature suns. A volley of Violent flame erupted from the exploding mini suns.It seems I suspected correctly; my opponent specializes in melee combat, though he can use basic magic. Every citizen in Australia has graduated from the Adventure Academy, even if they took this special F-ranked Adventures class. The f-ranked simply learn how to do side hustles and get an adventurer license to essentially cripple black market sales, making illegal transactions nearly impossible. However, you can't entirely stop sale."I was flying in the air, bombarding my enemy. I decided to mix it up by adding icicles, causing eruptions of steam. My enemy was slowly but surely becoming more and more injured. I couldn't amplify the power to my maximum; the emergency barrier bracelets we were using would be triggered if they sensed a lethal attack. They were not indestructible; like any barrier, they had their limits, and we were using the mass produced model, not the ones reserved for the strongest fighters. The reason was, there weren't very many of those, so they were probably allocated to more powerful individuals who were also fighting in the first round at the same time. The grand Colosseum had the ability to create several smaller stages which existed within their own-isolated spaces. Anyway, my opponent was a moron; he raised his sword in the air and was charging up a sword beam, so I continued attacking him. He finally unleashed the sword beam, which I casually dodged. I continued to attack him, finally triggering the emergency barrier, signifying my win. The healers in the Colosseum came out right away and healed my opponent. I actually left the Colosseum and headed to the spectator chairs." "I sat down next to my mother, who is also competing. No surprise, she'd already finished off her opponent. After all, someone who can fight on par with the Demon Lord and the 12 Demon Knights was an absolute monster and wouldn't have much difficulty with ordinary people. The moment I sat down, there were many holographic screens in front of me, accelerating my mind and sifting through all the screens that were showing several competitors fighting. I believe there were 20. I asked, 'Isn't it a bit small for the first round?' My mother replied, 'The grand Coliseum can only make 20 small arenas at the same time. Well, actually, it can make up to 100, but it's being limited to 20 since the barriers wouldn't be strong enough for people like me if they didn't do it. I'm sure the next round they'll set them back up to 100 arenas instead of 20.' she said. Then, I found the screen I was looking for. It showed Sophie. She seemed to be zipping around at the speed of light, fierce and powerful sword strikes where exchanged between her and her opponent. However, her blade seemed to be made out of condensed shadows, or was it condensed darkness? It didn't matter. The thing I was more interested in was the bikini she was wearing. Why was she wearing a bikini in the first place? It was simple; she lost a bet. My mother noticed which screen I was looking at and gave me a thumbs-up."
The holographic screens should only be visible to me; my mum shouldn't be able to see where I'm looking. She should have her own set of invisible holographic screens that are only visible to her. The screens are naturally an illusion. It's quite popular to use illusion magic to create holographic screens. Sometimes they use light magic; light magic is typically used because some people have the ability to see through illusions very easily.
