«Take your time,» the more sensible Alaiss urged her, adjusting her skirt and listening intently. «We have incurred the wrath of Valdra. The goddess of destruction won't let us go so easily. So let's leave the dungeon first and seek shelter in the city.»

As it turned out, the prudent beauty had prepared another exit to the surface, not far from the shrine. So we didn't have to follow the monster squad, hoping to slip through unnoticed.

On the way to the shrine, an unexpected obstacle awaited us - the bones lying on the ground suddenly gathered into a few skeletons and tried to grab the elven women. Judging by the roar of the monsters and the sound of blows, the dead began to come back to life all over the dungeon.

«I was afraid of this,» Alaiss admitted, dodging a sharp piece of bone from the arm of one of her enemies and plunging the dagger she kept in her belt into the base of his skull. «Sister, take care of the second.»

Tiarmiss easily dodged her opponent's hands and plunged the dagger between his vertebrae near his sternum. The skeletons immediately crumbled to the floor in a pile of bones, and I only had time to grab my sword, once again missing the opportunity to pump the skill "cold weapon".

At the next corner of the corridor, we waited for a rope hanging from a hatch in the ceiling. Alaiss quickly climbed up first, then I clumsily climbed up while Tiarmiss stayed at the bottom.

When I was almost at the top, the newly resurrected skeletons jumped out from around the corner. The dark elf, sensing danger, immediately climbed the rope, pushing past me and pressing her body against mine as she went. «I feel useless,» I muttered. The dark elves pretended not to hear me.

We were in a small and completely empty room. A narrow stone corridor led out of it, and we followed it. Suddenly, hands came out of the walls and tried to grab us.

Alaisse, who was ahead of us, drew her dagger and ran towards the room at the other end of the corridor, dodging the hands that tried to grab her and slicing the tendons of the faster ones. I sprinted after the dark elf. The hands that tried to catch me either slipped or I ripped them from their grasp, turning them into weightless dust.

After Alaiss had broken through, I looked back to see how her little sister was doing. And saw that a writhing Thiarmiss had her arms pinned against one of the walls, her mouth clamped shut.

«Freeze if you don't want her dead,» came a cold and indifferent female voice from down the hall as Alaiss and I rushed to the beauty's aid. In confirmation, one of her hands held her own dagger to Tiarmiss' throat.

We froze obediently, our eyes searching for our companion.
