At the Beginning, the Villain Is Secretly Loved by the Protagonist’s Mother

Chapter 17:

Chapter 17: Fighter Lao Wang:

“Boss, why are you looking at me like that?” Lin Keqing noticed his scrutinizing gaze.

“Just seeing how much you can eat,” Wang Zhenxing replied casually.

Lin Keqing blushed and looked down, embarrassed. Her rosy face looked especially charming, and for a moment, Wang Zhenxing felt his heart tremble. However, he quickly looked away, shifting his focus to some rowdy streetwalkers sitting nearby, his thoughts turning serious.

In typical urban novels, trouble always follows the heroine. Whether at a food stall, bar, or any public place, troublemakers inevitably show up. When the heroine finds herself in danger, the protagonist arrives just in time to save her, earning her favor in the process.

Yet, they had been at this food stall for quite some time, and no one had come to harass Lin Keqing.

Was she not beautiful enough? That was clearly not the case.

Could it be that the protagonist hadn’t appeared yet, so this part of the plot hadn’t triggered? Or was it because of him? As a villain, Wang Zhenxing’s presence, and his villainous aura, naturally suppressed minor troublemakers.

He had deliberately brought Lin Keqing to this food stall, hoping to trigger a “hero saves the beauty” moment. Yet, nothing had happened so far.

“It’s too noisy here. I need to make an important call in a quiet place,” Wang Zhenxing said suddenly, gesturing with his phone before walking away.

However, he didn’t go far. Instead, he hid in the shadows and observed Lin Keqing from a distance.

As expected, after about five minutes, a young man with dyed yellow hair, who had been eyeing Lin Keqing for a while, finally couldn’t hold back. He swaggered over to her with a glass of wine in hand.

“Hey there, beauty. Your companion left, huh? It’s boring sitting alone. Come join us,” the yellow-haired man said with a smirk.

“No, thanks.” Lin Keqing frowned, smelling the alcohol on him. She replied coldly, visibly disgusted.

“Come on, don’t be so unfriendly. My friends are watching. Just give me your number, and I’ll leave right away,” the man insisted.

“I don’t know you. Why should I give you my contact information?” Lin Keqing snapped.

“Xiao Huang, come back! You’re embarrassing yourself!” one of his companions jeered from a nearby table.

Hearing the mocking laughter, the yellow-haired man’s face turned red with humiliation. His voice grew harsher as he said, “Come on, don’t make me look bad! Just cooperate a little.”

“Your embarrassment has nothing to do with me. Leave me alone,” Lin Keqing retorted firmly.

Her unwillingness to play along angered the man. Egged on by his friends, he suddenly stepped closer, his expression turning sinister.

“You’re not giving me face, huh? If you won’t take the toast, you’ll take the punishment!” he spat, raising his hand as if to slap her.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?!”

A loud voice rang out. Before the man could act, Wang Zhenxing strode forward, his expression dark. Lin Keqing, startled and frightened, quickly moved behind him, subconsciously seeking his protection.

Standing tall, with a broad, commanding frame, Wang Zhenxing exuded authority.

From behind, Lin Keqing couldn’t help but feel safe, her heart calming as she moved even closer to him.

“Relax. It’s just a misunderstanding. I was asking your friend to have a drink. She refused, so that’s that,” the yellow-haired man said reluctantly. Seeing how well-dressed and imposing Wang Zhenxing looked, his arrogance faltered.

“Did I say you could leave?” Wang Zhenxing’s cold voice stopped him in his tracks.

The yellow-haired man froze.

“You’re wearing cheap clothes that probably cost a few hundred yuan, holding a ten-yuan glass of wine, and acting all high and mighty? Look at yourself in the mirror. You think you’re worthy of talking to my friend?” Wang Zhenxing sneered, his tone merciless.

Lin Keqing, listening from behind, felt a wave of satisfaction. The boss is incredible! He’s saying exactly what I want to say!

The yellow-haired man’s face turned crimson with embarrassment. “You… you dare say that again?” he stammered.

“Sure. I’ll say it as many times as you need. Someone like you isn’t worthy of even speaking to her,” Wang Zhenxing repeated without hesitation, giving him no chance to save face.

Enraged, the man grabbed a beer bottle from a nearby table, raising it as he shouted, “You’re looking for death!”

Bang!

The sound of the bottle striking someone’s head echoed—but it wasn’t what anyone expected. In one swift motion, Wang Zhenxing had grabbed the bottle and struck the yellow-haired man instead. The man staggered, clutching his bleeding head as he squatted on the ground in pain.

Seeing this, the man’s companions grabbed stools and other items, surrounding them aggressively.

“Stay back,” Wang Zhenxing said, gently pushing Lin Keqing aside to keep her safe.

What followed was a real street fight. For the first time, Wang Zhenxing used the advanced fighting skills he had integrated. His moves were precise and fluid, as though the techniques were second nature. Dodging, striking, and countering, he took down the young men one by one.

In less than a minute, five or six of them were lying on the ground groaning. The remaining troublemakers, intimidated by his strength, quickly backed away.

Lin Keqing watched in awe, her mouth agape. The boss is amazing! He can fight this well?

Once it was clear no one else wanted to fight, Wang Zhenxing stopped. After all, defending oneself was one thing, but chasing them down would be considered excessive force—and Wang Zhenxing understood the law.

“Boss, are you hurt anywhere?” Lin Keqing asked worriedly, rushing to his side.

“I’m fine,” he replied calmly, pulling out his phone and calling the authorities.

“I’m sorry, Boss. I caused you trouble,” Lin Keqing said apologetically.

“It’s not your fault,” Wang Zhenxing said firmly. “Remember, you’re my secretary. Unless I tell you to drink, no one else can force you.”

Hearing this, Lin Keqing felt an unfamiliar warmth in her heart. She had grown used to her boss’s domineering attitude over the past few days, but his words now gave her a deep sense of comfort and security. Looking up at him, she couldn’t help but admire him with her sparkling, jewel-like eyes.
