B2 | Chapter 36
A Large Ballroom located somewhere else in the Capital of Val
Jacob Rosswell feels proud as he stands at the edge of the ballroom chatting with several powerful figures within the new world. Both people from Val and otherworlders invited to Val. Because he finally feels like he belongs with them at the top of the world.
He's worked for years to get to this position, and the only reason he managed to make it was the System's initialization. All because of the skills he found hidden away in his Skill Tree.
And to make matters even better for him, his son managed to claim the territory right next to the Successor of Chaos. Which is an influential territory strictly because of the Successor's lack of residential space within her own Spire's territory. Making it so that anyone who wishes to live near her Spire either has to camp out in the park or to live in the neighboring Spires.
So Jacob can't thank the girl more. She's practically raised his position in society by an entire level without directly doing anything.
In fact, he's never even seen her and he's sure she's never seen him either.
Jacob feels his smile growing even brighter as he stands amidst the other upper class society members and discusses business with them. Meanwhile several other people dance in the center of the large ballroom. And others stand or sit closer to the edge eating food or drinking wine or punch at the tables.
His thoughts go on halt when the doors to the ballroom open, attracting his and the other guests' attention towards it. Only for everyone to stop talking as the announcer next to the doors declares, "Announcing the arrival of the Successor of Magic, Blake Sinclair!"
Everyone in the ballroom begins to applaud his entrance as the man walks into the ballroom without an escort. But no one questions his lack of an escort thanks to his position and power.
He's wearing a bold blue and black tuxedo with his hair gelled back and the symbols in his eyes shining brightly for all to see.
After his entrance, everyone either turns their attention back to what they were doing before, or they begin moving towards the Successor of Magic.
Numerous women try to ask for a dance with him while others, both men and women, try to strike up business negotiations. And Jacob isn't afraid to admit that he's one of them.
But the Successor of Magic just politely declines all of them and points them in the direction of the representative from the Tower of Magic who came with him.
Then everyone is interrupted again when the announcer declares the arrival of the youngest and eldest Sinclair siblings, both of whom are walking hand in hand into the ballroom.
Jacob would try his luck with them as well, but neither of them look like they're in the mood to talk. So he decides to leave them be and return to his previous conversational companions.
Because it's better to be safe than sorry.
And right as he's chatting with one of his territory's neighbors, it finally happens.
"Announcing the arrival of the Successor of Chaos, the Queen of Destruction, and the Princess of the Tower of Chaos," the announcer declares loud for everyone to hear before the door even opens, only to finish right as it opens wide, "Ashley Sinclair Chaos!!!"
Everyone goes silent in an instant, meanwhile anyone who was dancing stops almost like time itself froze. With everyone immediately turning their gazes towards the entrance to the ballroom and banquet hall.
If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.
Where everyone sees the girl wearing a beautiful black and crimson dress, with black stockings and two layers to the dress's skirt. The top layer being black and connected to the rest of the dress, which is also black, and the layer beneath it being crimson in color and being longer in the back than in the front. It has short sleeves and a back that's completely covered despite her black and crimson raven wings somehow passing through the fabric. Meanwhile her hair is mostly straight down, except with one small ponytail layered on top of the rest of her hair with a red hair tie.
Jacob feels in awe as he watches the beautiful girl walk into the banquet hall amidst the stunned silence. But he also feels genuine fear when he sees the girl's eyes.
Her eyes are glowing bright crimson and bring a sense of terror the moment he looks into them. A sense that only grows stronger whenever the even brighter slit part at the center of her eyes passes over him.
And the moment he remembers seeing people slowly being covered in glowing crimson cracks before just being erased from existence at her mere gaze, his thoughts immediately erase any traces of lust after her beauty. Not that he'd dare feel that way.
He's smart enough to not offer his own head on a chopping block after all.
After the Princess of Chaos herself walks in, her supporters walk in after her. Starting with the Queen of Purgatory, Dhalia Velonna Blight, and continuing with the Tower Master of the Tower of Chaos whose name no one Jacob knows has been able to pronounce.
Instead of walking over to anyone in particular though, Ashley Sinclair Chaos simply walks over to one of the buffet tables, grabs a glass and some punch, and then heads over to an empty table near the window looking out at the city beneath them. And without talking to even a single person in attendance, she just sits down and begins drinking from the punch in her glass.
Jacob can tell just from the looks of the people around him that everyone wants to go and speak with the Princess of Chaos, but clearly no one can make themselves walk over to her. No doubt because of her other Title as the Queen of Destruction.
The only one who manages to walk over to her is her twin brother, the Successor of Magic. And the two of them just spend time chatting amongst themselves without anyone else joining them.
Even her older and younger siblings don't join them regardless of how obvious it is that they want to.
So at the end of the day, Jacob decides to try to approach the friendliest of the Successor of Chaos's party.
The Tower Master of the Tower of Chaos.
Ashley
Why did I bother coming here again? I'm honestly not sure.
The whole idea of the banquet and ball were good, but if no one is even going to approach me, what's the point?
And what's worse is that I don't even really want anyone to approach me. Just the idea sends some chills down my spine as I remember the past. As I remember the times that I went to balls before the System.
Before I entered that coma.
Despite not having anything to worry about anymore.
After all, I have nothing to hide anymore. Not a single thing.
So I just try to relax while drinking punch with Blake.
The two of us have both been rather busy ever since the Unique Domain and haven't been able to talk all that much, but we have been able to talk a little bit. Mostly over calls though and not in person. And thanks to that, I know what he's been up to.
He's been working to establish the Tower of Magic's ties to Val and has even been competing with the Adventurer's Guild and Hunter's Guild for dominance over the planet's Gates. Competing with our biological parents. The authentic version is on M|V|LEMPY_R.
And if it weren't for the fact that he's cleared a Unique Domain, I'm sure he would probably be losing out in his endeavor. Strictly because our birth parents have more fame from before the System, and there are two of them compared to one of him.
But his time in the Unique Domain brought him even more fame than they already had amongst the people of Val. Not to mention his ties to me. So things have been going a bit more in his favor than in theirs at the end of the day.
My and Blake's conversation is cut short though when two unexpected people finally break the stalemate and begin approaching us. Two people that I could tell wanted to come and talk to us but couldn't seem to manage to bring themselves to.
Our siblings.
Elizabeth and Seth Sinclair.
Our older sister and younger brother.
My eyes narrow a little bit before I down the rest of the punch.
I might need some alcohol for this conversation…
That thought makes me blink as I briefly wonder if alcohol will even work on me anymore. But then I decide that it doesn't really matter since I didn't imbibe before the System anyways and I don't plan on it now regardless.
Anyways, time to see what they have to say.
