At this moment, Homelander was like a supercomputer, rapidly filtering through billions of data points in mere seconds.
With his quantum parallel minds working in unison, he was processing an astronomical number of calculations at once.
Meanwhile, Annika was lazily munching on a bag of chips, watching as her boss suddenly zoned out.
She had no idea what was going on until she noticed her computer screen flickering.
Then, the same phenomenon occurred across the entire analysis department—every single monitor flashed in unison.
Annika instinctively took a step back.
Fortunately, the flickering lasted only a few moments before everything returned to normal. Then, she saw Homelander stand up.
He chuckled. "Cautious little rats, aren't they?"
"They've managed to avoid every single camera. Interesting… this just got fun."
Turning to Annika, he smirked and said, "Nice shoes."
Annika glanced down at her newly purchased high heels and grinned proudly. "Boss, I've got good taste, huh?"
Then she sighed. "They were a bit pricey, though. Guess I'll be living on instant noodles for the rest of the month."
Homelander shook his head and gestured toward her phone. "Check your messages."
Annika blinked, then pulled out her phone.
A notification popped up.
A bank transfer.
Her account had just received a deposit of 10,000 dollars!
Annika let out an excited squeal, jumped up, and kissed Homelander on the cheek. "Boss, I freaking love you!"
"Oh? Is that so?" Homelander teased.
"Then how about I drop by your place tonight?"
Annika's face froze as she suddenly realized the dangerous territory the conversation had entered. She quickly backpedaled. "Boss, uh, I actually have plans tonight!"
Homelander burst into laughter and walked away.

Chinatown
Homelander climbed the stairs to the second floor of a small apartment building.
Before he could knock, the door opened.
Standing behind it was Shimei, the wild little she-wolf.
She was barefoot, wearing a white printed T-shirt and denim shorts. Upon seeing Homelander, a flicker of fear flashed in her eyes, and she instinctively took a step back.
Homelander entered without hesitation, shutting the door behind him. His gaze flicked upward. "Is Linda awake?"
Shimei quickly signed: She's up. I heard her washing up.
Homelander nodded, then reached out and cupped Shimei's face. "Go get ready. We're heading out later. You're coming with us."
Shimei reacted as if she had been electrocuted, leaping back like a startled wildcat and landing on the couch, eyes flashing with hostility.
Homelander chuckled, walked over, and ruffled her hair like one would a pet. "Relax. I'm not going to hurt you."
"As long as you behave."
"And one more thing—you need to fix that habit of yours."
"Jumping around like that in public is bound to scare people."
He paused, then added nonchalantly, "I've already found a scapegoat for you. Soon, your criminal record will be wiped clean."
"I'll also get you a proper identity. After that, you can live here without worry."
"This country might not be great, but if you've got money, you can still live pretty damn free."
With that, Homelander flicked a credit card into her collar, smirking. "Use this however you want. Buy whatever you like."
"Just stay alive. You'll be seeing 'Rat' soon."
Shimei froze, then slowly nodded.
Homelander gave her one last head pat—an oddly gentle gesture for someone like him—before leaving.
As she stood up, the credit card slipped out from beneath her shirt and onto the floor.
She hesitated, then picked it up, her face turning a faint shade of red.
For someone like her, whose life had been nothing but hardship, this was the first time anyone had ever treated her with kindness.
Her eyes stung slightly.
But before she could dwell on it, she heard footsteps descending the stairs.
Hurriedly tucking away the card, she grabbed a baseball cap and put it on.
Outside, in the hallway, a soft voice spoke up.
"Thank you, Mr. John."
"I wanted to get a guide dog, but I was afraid I'd get scammed."
"It's really kind of you to come with me."
The voice drifted away.
Shimei quickly followed, trailing behind the two.

A Leisurely Errand
Linda wanted to buy a guide dog, and Homelander was more than happy to accompany her.
After all, constant battles and bloodshed could get exhausting.
It wasn't a bad idea to take a break every now and then.
Besides, this was also a good opportunity to get closer to Little Linda.
The two walked down the street and soon arrived at the subway station.
Since it was the weekend, the place was packed with commuters.
Chinatown had a high Chinese population, but there were also plenty of Black gangsters lurking around.
As they moved through the crowd, a young Black man subtly reached toward Homelander's pocket.
Homelander didn't even look.
He simply caught the pickpocket's wrist and gave it a slight squeeze.
A pig-like squeal erupted as the man's hand twisted into an unnatural shape—utterly crippled.
He would never be able to use it for thieving again.
"What happened?"
"Did someone get hurt?"
Linda turned toward the noise, nearly bumping into Homelander's face.
It was the closest they had ever been.
Homelander chuckled. "Just some idiot who wasn't watching where he was going and tripped over himself."
Linda giggled. "No way! I thought only I was clumsy enough to do that."
They boarded the subway, which was packed so tightly there was barely any room to move.
If Linda had been alone, she would have had no choice but to wait for the next train.
But with Homelander there, he simply muscled his way in, forcing a path open.
He pulled Linda into a corner and used his arms to shield her from the crowd.
Even so, the train was too full. The two were pressed against each other.
Homelander could hear it clearly—her heartbeat was speeding up, her blood flowing faster than usual.
He wasn't surprised.
After all, being this close to the strongest man on the planet… what woman could resist?
Still, he wasn't looking to get too cozy with her just yet.
So, with practiced subtlety, he shifted back slightly, creating a small gap between them.
Linda, who had been feeling the firm warmth of his body, suddenly felt an odd emptiness.
It was as if the solid support behind her had vanished.
A subconscious reaction—her little feet rubbed together lightly in her shoes.
For a split second, she almost wanted to lean back, to recapture that warmth and strength.
Just then, the subway jolted as it started moving.
Homelander didn't need to turn around to know—several women had taken the opportunity to press themselves against him.
Ignoring them, his gaze landed on a subway screen.
A news program was playing.
"Today, we are honored to have Starlight take us on an exclusive tour of Vought's research facility!"
"This cutting-edge lab is at the forefront of biotechnology and genetic research, working tirelessly to improve our lives and health."
"Now, let's follow Starlight as she takes us inside."
On the screen, Starlight appeared, her golden waves framing her stunning face.
Dressed in her signature low-cut battle suit and thigh-high boots, she put on her best professional smile, delivering lines straight from Vought's marketing script.
Meanwhile, inside Vought's research facility…
Starlight had just led a group of visitors through the tech park and product exhibition hall. Now, it was break time.
She made an excuse to slip away from both the guests and Vought personnel, quietly making her way toward a nearby lab.
The door opened as a scientist entered, keying in a code.
Before it could shut, Starlight darted inside.
Inside the laboratory, Starlight's gaze instantly locked onto the vials of Compound V stored in the incubator.
Her eyes lit up, golden radiance shimmering within her irises, making her appear both mysterious and captivating.
With a subtle flex of her abilities, the fluorescent lights in the lab flickered erratically, sparking with bursts of electricity.
The sudden disturbance drew the attention of everyone in the vicinity.
Seizing the opportunity, Starlight swiftly opened the incubator, grabbed a few vials of Compound V, and discreetly tucked them into her knee-high boots.
Just as she finished, ready to make her escape, she suddenly felt herself bump into someone from behind.
Spinning around, she found herself face-to-face with a man wearing a lab coat, a name tag pinned to his chest that read "Lab Supervisor Mick."
Mick's expression was one of shock and suspicion.
"Miss Starlight? What are you doing here?"
"This area isn't part of the tour. You shouldn't be here."
Starlight tensed for a brief moment, but she quickly regained her composure, flashing a practiced, charming smile.
"Oh, I was just wandering around during my break."
"I needed to find a restroom but got lost. I thought this might be one, but clearly, I was mistaken."
"It's my first time here, after all."
"Anyway, I'll be leaving now."
She turned toward the door, but just as she was about to step out—
"Wait a minute," Mick's voice called out from behind her.
