Chapter 44: Chapter 44: Settling In
The moving boxes were stacked neatly in the corner of the living room, but Ethan wasn't ready to unpack yet. Instead, his attention was fixed on the garage. He stood in the doorway, taking in the space with a sense of purpose.
"This is where it all starts," he murmured to himself, rolling up his sleeves.
The garage was spacious enough for his plans, but it needed some serious work. He decided to split it into two sections: one for practicality, the other for passion.
The first task was simple. Ethan parked his electric car in the garage, carefully measuring the space to ensure there was enough room to install a charging port. He had done his research, and after a few hours of drilling, wiring, and double-checking the connections, the charging port was ready to go.
"Not bad," he said, stepping back to admire his work. The sleek car fit perfectly in its designated spot, and the charging station looked professional.
With the practical side done, Ethan turned his attention to the other half of the garage. This was the part he was truly excited about—his small dream lab.
He spent the next few days bringing in tools, shelves, and a sturdy workbench. He mounted pegboards on the wall to organize his equipment and installed bright overhead lights to illuminate the space.
On one of the shelves, he carefully placed a box labeled "Projects." It was filled with half-finished gadgets, schematics, and ideas he had been tinkering with over the years.
"This is it," Ethan said, running his hand over the workbench. "Finally, a space to create."
That night, Ethan sat at his workbench, surrounded by the soft hum of the garage lights. He unpacked an old project—a simple chatbot he had started back in university but never finished.
"Let's see if you still work," he said, plugging it into his laptop. The bot's interface popped up on the screen, its cheerful greeting bringing a smile to Ethan's face.
He tinkered with the code for hours, tweaking and refining it. Though it was far from perfect, the process reminded him of why he loved creating.
As he closed up the garage for the night, Ethan looked around the space, feeling a deep sense of satisfaction.
The car, the charging port, the workbench—it was all a reflection of the life he was building for himself.
"This is just the beginning," he said to himself, flipping off the lights.
