"Sieg I can't help but worry about the kids ..." Carla said nervously. "I know you would be with them to protect them but I can't help but think about the worst case ..." she didn't continue as Carla bit her lips burying her head in Siegfried's chest in sadness. 

A conflict she didn't wish to be part of, but would be forced to be part of it due to her lineage as an Eldian. 

Why? They just wanted to live! 

Those Titan shifters were lurking somewhere outside or inside the walls giving her chills. Her family was in constant danger and all she could do was pray. 

"It's fine ..... as long as I am alive nothing would happen to you or the kids ...." Siegfried said with conviction as he held Carla's face in his hands as he could see the worry in her eyes.

Sieg hugged her gently making her rest her head against his chest as she could hear his powerful heartbeat which always made Carla feel safe.

Even after 5 years Carla still looked the same and it was due to Siegfried's influence and she could also easily beat up a grown man.

Siegfried held Carla gently in his arms as he thought about the threats to his current family.

Everything might be calm but he knew it was just a prelude to the storm that was about to come.

But he wasn't afraid ... Not in the slight.

Let them come ... All of them ... And he would make sure to bury them six feet under...

"Armin aren't you a bit too nervous" Eren asked curiously while gazing at his blonde haired friend who had always been timid from childhood.

"B-But that's him .... And this is you ..." Armin said timidly as not just anyone can become the strongest easily.

If it was so easy then there would have been more Scout regiment members on the level of Siegfried.

"Pfft~" Mikasa couldn't help but laugh a little as Armin wasn't trying to insult Eren but was just being honest.

"W-What did you say!" Eren's face turned red in embarrassment and anger as he put Armin in a headlock while giving a stink eye to Mikasa who just acted like nothing happened.

'That stingy old man' Eren cursed inside his mind as he couldn't help but be a bit annoyed that Siegfried refused to teach him anything.

Eren wanted to ask if Carla was his mother or Mikasa's mother because from where he was standing he needed some compensation for Siegfried marrying his mom and isn't teaching your step son considered bonding.

But No! That stingy old man refused to teach him anything, instead he opted to take the brooding emo girl as his student.

Ofcourse Eren was jealous, calling it jealous was an understatement.

Eren had a feeling that Siegfried was doing this so that he would fail in the selection or give up on it and not join the scout regiments.

He appreciated the sentiment because he could understand that the man cared for him like a son and no parent would want their child to join such a dangerous organisation.

But he would never give up no matter what happens!

Eren believed this was his calling , as he felt like the scout regiment was where he belonged.

He still remembered the time when Shiganshina fell and he was forced to run away from his home town.

He nearly lost his mother there and if not for Uncle Sieg he would have become an Orphan.

Eren would never forget the powerless feeling he felt that day when that enormous Titan gazed at all of them from above the walls like a shepherd gazing at his sheep in the cage.

The walls protected them but it was also equivalent to a cage.

Once upon a time they beleived the walls would protect them, that the invincible walls would keep them safe even if they couldn't go out.

But even that changed when Shiganshina fell. The walls weren't completely safe anymore and they could be destroyed.

All it takes is another one of those Giant Titans to come knocking for the wall to fall.

The scout regiment had recaptured Shiganshina but it still isn't suitable for human settlement due to the huge hole which they still didn't have any way to fix.

Or atleast the government weren't making any moves to fix it.

Eren didn't know nor did he care.

He wanted to be strong , he wanted to kill Titans! All of them! Eradicate them off the face of this earth!

He hated the feeling of being a Cattle but more than that he hated this feeling of being trapped.

He yearned for freedom, he yearned to go beyond the walls someday, wanting to explore the vast world.

And for that, he would never give up and stay inside the walls , because that just wasn't who he was...
