Natural Talent and The Gifts
"Well then, here it is!"
As god said the words, a status screen made of light manifested itself in front of the soul.
Name: ?
Race: ?
Gender: ?
Level: 0
Abilities:
STR: I-0
END: I-0
DEX: I-0
AGI: I-0
MAG: I-0
Magic: None
Skills:
Polymath: Greatly increases effectiveness and growth rate of Development Abilities. Any Development Abilities whose requirements are met, are unlocked on rank-up.
Arcana: Drastically improves any magic related ability or activity. Records all spells and curses the user perceives and allows the user to modify them or create new spells based on the principles learned from them. Creates magic circles independent of the mage Development Ability that substitute any chant requirements. The user can meditate to choose which spells to put in his magic slots. Grants one extra spell slot per level.
As the soul eyed its status, it immediately realised how powerful its skills will be.
'Talented indeed! The first ability is for a jack of all trades, and will be useful regardless of the life I choose . . . Hmm, the second is purely focused on magic so that's where I should put my effort in the future. Now then, time to choose some complimentary gifts!'
As its thoughts began to settle, the soul began its requests for the gifts.
"So, first of all I want a limit breaker type skill like Liaris Freese for my Gift of Skill and an inventory type spell with temporal regulation for my Gift of Magic and I think I'll see that race list before choosing my curse."
Hearing the requests god spoke.
"Well your request are doable, however i would like your input how how the inventory spell works"
"How so?" the soul asked.
"As I said before the gifts must be within the confines of the world as such there are limits, so I will require specifications. I already have a good idea for the skill and I know you will like it but it's better to get your input on the spell."
Hearing god's answer the soul pondered.
'Hmm specific features . . .'
After thinking about it for a while, the soul told god the desired specifications.
"It should be something I can use from the get go, so as low cost as possible in terms of mind expenditure, I don't really want it for quick requips and such so we can save on cost there. As for the time regulation, accelerating and decelerating the effects of time on the contents would be enough. Maximum space within those parameters and the ability to partition the space would be nice too."
Meanwhile the soul thought in its mind.
'Not only will this spell make me an invaluable asset to any exploration type familia, by having a spell with space-time components to analyse with my Arcana skill, I will probably be able to develop more space-time based spells myself!'
With the now very specific instructions, god created the new spell.
"Alright, it is done. The size of the space will correlate to your MAG ability, as will the degree of the time regulation, with that it should be useful at any level. The cost was reduced by dividing the spell into space creation, modification and access to created spaces, one premade space will be provided, a little freebie."
Hearing the stellar response, the soul was immensely satisfied and so moved onto the next topic after thanking god.
"That's perfect! Thank you very much! Now onto the next gift"
Pleased with the soul's response god continued.
"You are very welcome! Here is the list of possible races for you to consider." Saying this god manifested another screen of light in front of the soul and gave an additional remark.
"Just tap on any of the names that interest you for more information."
"Ok then, let's see . . ." Having said that the soul began to browse the list"
Amazon
Boaz
Cat Person
Chienthrope
Cow Person
Dark Elf
Dark High Elf
Dwarf

High Elf
Half Dwarf
Half Elf
Half Pallum

After browsing the list some more and reading the descriptions of a few more races, the soul finally spotted the the option that interested it the most.
'Well, bit of a cliche but cliches are what they are for a reason, like a wise individual once said, don't fix what ain't broken.'
High Human: Higher physical talent than a normal Human but still slightly lesser than the more gifted amazons and beast races. Magical talent and lifespan nearly comparable to high elvenkind. High adaptability and potential manifested in the ability to absorb knowledge and skills at an increased rate.
Having finished its considerations, the soul announced its choice to god.
"For my Gift of Blood I choose High Human."
"A good choice indeed!" god responded. "Now all that is left is the Cursed Gift I believe." He continued.
"Hmm . . ." 'Let's see . . . I think I'm all set on stuff to use as a part of my main skill set . . . So I gueeesss, maybe a sort of emergency power boost for when I'm in a pinch? Yeah, that's a good idea! But what about specifics? Hmm . . . Maybe I can ask god for suggestions?'
Ending its thought process, the soul selected its final gift.
"I want some sort of emergency power boost and I was wondering if you could offer some suggestions."
"Certainly! What about an overall power boost related to injury?" God suggested.
The soul immediately refused.
"Nope, no way I'm choosing a masochistic curse, that's like begging for painful stuff to happen to me, I'm sure you know how these kinds of stories go."
"Fine, fine but have you ever heard the phrase, "No pain, no gain"?" god questioned.
The soul promptly answered.
"Yes I have and although I have great respect for those with that sort of commitment and I can handle pain if I have to . . . I think . . . I would most definitely do the utmost to avoid unnecessary suffering 'cause I'm not a masochistic shounen protagonist!"
"If you say so. Then what?" God continued.
But then a flash of inspiration came to the soul.
"What about excelia, the exp of DanMachi?"
Hearing that god put on a thoughtful expression.
"So a curse that expends your accumulated excelia for power, It is actually a great idea, the boost would be considerable too, and since you have a growth rate boosting skill as well as the natural excelia gain boost from being a high human . . ."
"Wait a minute, being a high human increases excelia gain? That wasn't in the description!" The soul immediately interrupted.
"Well it was implied in the last phrase of the description!" God countered.
"Ahh whatever. There's no point in arguing anyway."
Seeing that the soul was not going to continue complaining god proceeded.
"That should be all then, time to send you on your way then! Remember that you can still use your abilities before getting a Falna but they won't be nearly as effective!"
"Now, one last thing! Choose your starting location and starting gear from the available options." God announced but then suddenly remembered something. "And your name! Can't forget that now, can we?" He added with a laugh.
"For my name, I'll go with Nox Lyros! Bit chunni but very Fantasy like!" Declared Nox. "Now for the starter stuff, show me the options!" He requested.
God did not answer but instead showed him a screen with his options like he had for the Gift of Blood.
Nox looked around for a while until he found some nice gear to start and wasn't surprised when he found no magic weapons and such. After all that would count as another gift he supposed but there were still some well made items even if they had no extra abilities like those made by adventurers with the Blacksmith development ability.
Having chosen some worthy gear, Nox then turned his eyes to the light screen detailing his possible starting locations and there were only a three.

A though life on the streets has made you more aware of the goings of Orario's underworld but constant hunger has left you malnourished.
