Chapter 1010: Skill Upgrades
Vale didn't immediately leave the inn as he confirmed that the city was safe.
Still, he felt bothered about the situation.
Although the city's defensive formation had been stabilized, he noticed a detail that unsettled him—more than 50 Immortals were on the move.
It was quite a lot for these Demonic Creatures… Even if there were a dozen Demon Saints, it shouldn't push them to bring so many Immortals just yet.
Anyway, he continued to observe the situation for now.
In the distance, high above the city's barriers, Immortals from other areas are also starting to arrive…
There was a certain tension hanging in the air, as Vale realized that the battle this time wouldn't be as simple as before.
Still, he wasn't particularly alarmed. The fact that there were hundreds of Immortals in this city meant that, short of an actual invasion, it should remain safe for now.
Even if a powerful enemy emerged, they would hesitate before striking head-on.
But still… this pattern of chaos disturbed him.
"This is the second time," Vale muttered, stepping near the window and glancing out at the crisscrossing lights. "And I've only been here for a few days."
He frowned. Something was off about this realm.
The Shadow Realm was supposed to be one of the most heavily fortified realm… Yet, trouble kept brewing…
It was a bit weird how the Demons could casually open a rift here when he was able to close the rifts and stop the Demon Invasion despite barely having some immortals on his side.
'Is there an internal issue… or something worse?'
For the first time, Vale truly considered the idea, but he needed more information.
If he wanted to obtain more power in this realm, he should understand what was really going on in this place.
His gaze drifted southward.
"Perhaps it's time to consider heading to the Central Continent..." Vale whispered as he also gathered quite a lot of information from the memories he had obtained.
That was where most of the powerful Immortal Clans and Sects resided. It was a place that could surely bring him a lot of surprise…
He needed access to their resources.
But entering the Central Continent wasn't easy. There were strict requirements. The Shadow Realm was already dangerous enough, but at least here he could exist in anonymity. In the Central Continent, without a proper identity or backing, one misstep could mean annihilation.
If he were to go… he'd need an organization or an affiliation. A name behind his name.
He let out a long sigh as he recalled the recruiters who had come for him… There were quite a few of them already, and he could just easily choose one from them.
For now, however, he had work to do.

Vale sat cross-legged in silence as he turned his attention inward.
His system activated as he decided to upgrade his current Spells.
[ Consume 50 energy points to improve Holy Darkness? ]
"Fifty? Not that bad…" Vale gently nodded.
[ Advancement Successful. Holy Darkness Lv1 ]
"Alright…" Vale muttered. Just like that, he continued with the upgrading process.
[ Consume 100 energy points to improve Holy Darkness? ]
[ Consume 200 energy points to improve Holy Darkness? ]
[ Consume 400 energy points to improve Holy Darkness? ]
[ Consume 800 energy points to improve Holy Darkness? ]
…
[ Consume 25,600 energy points to improve Holy Darkness? ]
"Yes…"
[ Advancement Successful. Holy Darkness Lv10 ]
[ You have reached the limit of the Holy Darkness! The Spell's Effect had greatly increased. ]
"Good…" Vale muttered as he did the same with the Eternal Night Chains, Withering Starlight, and Eternal Darkness Spell Models.
Apparently, Holy Darkness had the lowest base price for the upgrade. It was only worth 50 energy points. However, the others are worth 55, 60, and 70…
He had to spend over a hundred thousand Energy Points!
It was an incredibly huge number. Thankfully, he had more than 800 thousand Energy Points that he had collected for several years.
"Ahhh…" Vale suddenly felt something a few moments after the fourth spell reached perfection. Vale's entire body trembled.
A powerful surge of resonance swept through his soul. It wasn't like before—this wasn't just an upgrade of power. It felt like he was undergoing transformation.
He hadn't merged or fused the four Spells just yet but it was already giving him a special effect!
The four spells—Holy Darkness, Eternal Night Chains, Withering Starlight, and Eternal Darkness—didn't merely coexist inside his Soul anymore. They pulsed in harmony, overlapping and amplifying one another…
He could feel it.
The Perfect Realm was truly incredible, especially for Celestial Arts…
Right now, Vale knew that his level of control, potency, and reaction speed had already reached an absurd level.
Vale slowly opened his eyes as he confirmed that the effects had slowly subsided.
'Let's try this for a bit…' Vale muttered.
Soon, a ripple of cold yet holy aura spread out from him….
"Power like this…" Vale muttered, raising his hand.
From his palm, a stream of light and shadow emerged—Holy Darkness. It was no longer just divine light tainted with corrupted energy, nor was it simply a mixture of two opposing forces. It had evolved into something new….
Beneath it coiled dark tendrils—Eternal Night Chains. But now, each link in the chain was embedded with powerful effects…. When the chains moved, it felt as if it distorted space itself!
Then he called forth Withering Starlight—a single orb of starlight appeared. Its beauty is radiant and terrifying.
Where it hovered, life itself seemed to wither… However, at its center was warmth, like a long-forgotten hope wrapped in mourning.
And finally—Eternal Darkness. He summoned it last, and when it arrived, the world around him seemed to pause. The light had dimmed as his breathing slowed. For a single second, everything went utterly silent.
Then the Eternal Darkness receded. He didn't want to use the Spells too much as he might attract some attention...
Still, Vale exhaled deeply as he let the pressure fall from his shoulders. He had succeeded...
'So this was the power of perfection.' Vale mused as he felt his body refined.
