Chapter 1004: Violation
Although Vale wanted to extract the Celestial Immortal from his Storage Ring already, he couldn't help but be drawn to the grimoire's content.
It had three Immortal Spells after all!
That was certainly an impressive loot and he was quite excited to see this. After all, his strength after advancement to Earth Immortal might have something to do with the Spells he fused.
He had to be careful about it.
Anyway, as he inspected the grimoire, he could immediately tell that it was a wicked treasure, undoubtedly crafted through dozens of sacrifices and forbidden rituals.
Dangerous… but potentially invaluable.
Next to it was a long obsidian needle wrapped in a scroll of faded beastskin. The Appraisal spell revealed it immediately:
'Corpse Carver Needle. An Alchemical Tool reaching the level of Arcana…'
After further appraisal, he confirmed that it was the item that Arcanthus used to inscribe corpses with deathly runes.
"Useful for corpse alchemy…" Vale murmured. Not his style, but the rune-structure alone was worth studying. He might be able to reverse-engineer parts for other uses.
As he opened the grimoire, Vale noticed that there was a bone medallion, emanating weak pulses of deathly energy.
'Soul Medallion… Unknown Grade.'
It was something that his Appraisal Spell couldn't analyze. However, he could tell that it preserves a memory fragment from the Earth Immortal…
That alone made Vale pause.
"Did he seal a piece of himself in here?" he wondered… If so, he could either extract it, study it… or possibly experience it.
He stored it carefully, deciding to analyze it later with his Soul Reaper and Spirit Vision Spells under a triple-layered soul cage.
Instead of browsing the grimoire, his attention was then drawn to the other items, as it was cluttered.
Two flasks of Corrupted Moon Essence.
A chunk of crystallized Shadow Bone Marrow.
One vial labeled "Ashen Heart Sap".
A crumbling black feather infused with the Dimensional Creature's essence.
There were many more items, and after confirming their usage, he decided to store them back in his Storage Ring. Finally, he could just focus on the contents of the grimoire in front of him.
Soon, he read about the first Spell Model…
It was Night Grasp Spell. It was suited for a Shadow Immortal as it binds shadow threads to a target's soul and anchors them to a location.
It can prevent teleportation, blinking, or dimensional shifting.
"This is actually good." Vale's eyes brightened. That was the kind of spell he needed—perfect for dealing with slippery targets like Time Manipulators or Dimensional Creatures.
This was incredible!
He inhaled deeply, his eyes glowing faintly from layered Extrasensory Perception as he analyzed the Spell Model.
Unfortunately, he didn't extract the Night Grasp from Arcanthus, so he had to record the Spell Model in the traditional way…
It had been some time since he had done it, but it was not impossible for him.
Anyway, he read through the grimoire and learned more about how it works.
"Ahh… Right…" Vale gently nodded as the fragmented memories that he obtained from Arcanthus started becoming clearer to him.
It seemed that with the memories he obtained, he could easily record this Spell Model in his Evolved Spell Light.
Vale relaxed for a bit as he continued to review the extracted memories from the old Immortal.
Now that he had browsed through the memories, he actually had knowledge of One Shadow Domain Stabilization Array, Corpse Alchemy enhancement formulas, important notes on Soul Binders and "Synthetic Immortality", and lastly, the experience that Arcanthus had during his advancement from Lesser to Earth Immortal.
He leaned back finally, letting the lights dim to nothing. Only the glowing runes and pulsing artifacts remained alight, orbiting around him.
"Night Grasp… Flicker Fade Garden… Lightning Shroud… Night Trade or maybe Withering Threads…" he repeated under his breath.
Those are the Shadow Celestial Arts that he could obtain… He only needed four of them and advanced them to the Perfect Realm. After that, he had to fuse the four of them…
'Well, I might get something better. Flicker Fade and Night Trade might not be a good option in the long run.' Vale muttered.
As for the Night Grasp, it already had a guaranteed spot in his Evolved Spell Light.
Anyway, the second spell was the Grave Mist Spell.
It was a domain-type Spell.
The caster would summon darkness, blotting out any natural or artificial light within a wide radius.
But this was more than just shadow—it twisted perception and silenced sound, creating a dead zone of awareness.
The grimoire explained that within the mist, only the caster could move unimpeded. Others would find their movements slowed, their thoughts clouded, and their senses would be clouded to near uselessness.
What made it terrifying was its scalability. The more powerful the Divinity used, the wider the mist… And if combined with a compatible Cursecraft Spell, it could even trap souls inside the darkness.
Vale raised a brow. "Perfect for ambushes… or assassinations."
He made a mental note. That Spell alone could be evolved in several directions—curse amplification, or even sensory manipulation.
"Hmm… This might actually be a good combination with my Netherflame Ascendant Spell…" Vale muttered as he recalled one of his Celestial Arts that came from the fusion of Ash Resurrection, Demonic Transformation, Cosmic Sight, and True Astral Chains.
Finally, he turned to the last Spell. It was called the Soul Tethering Spell.
This one was grim.
It was a summoning-type Spell that allowed the caster to bind the soul of a freshly killed being to another corpse of his choice…
The difference between this and a mere corpse puppet Spell was that the soul remained conscious. It could think, scream, or beg, but it couldn't disobey. Its will was overridden entirely.
Moreover, if the new body was maintained long enough, it could mutate under the caster's Divinity, gaining new abilities or even evolving into a semi-immortal Familiar.
The grimoire even recorded experiments, using beast souls, immortal fragments, and other Immortal Beings with terrifying results.
Vale frowned. "This… is a violation of spirit law. It's amazing that the Will of the Realm is allowing this."
