Chapter 1002: Extracted
Vale was obviously not letting him get away. Seeing that this old Immortal was sinful due to his extreme experiments or research, there was no way he would let him escape.
Vale was already moving.
There was no need to use his strongest Celestial Arts.
With Fiend's Wrath, his physical body surged with power… This move started cracking the tiles on the floor as he shot forward.
Bam!
The staff met his palm, but Spell Dispersion shattered the enchantment on contact.
Needless to say, Vale used this opportunity to use his Divine Extraction!

Arcanthus coughed blood and immediately tried to retreat…
However, Vale didn't just let him leave…
Pah!
The old immortal stumbled back as Vale's Ethereal Vampiric Fist struck his chest, draining some of his spiritual force as well.
"You… brat!"
The old man retreated a few more steps… He knew that Vale used a life-draining Spell or something similar.
Still, Vale noticed something. The old Immortal was actually injured!
It wasn't obvious before, but there was actually a huge gaping wound on his chest that was being suppressed by the old Immortals Divinity!
'Is it a curse?' Vale mused. But this was a perfect opportunity, and he didn't plan to miss this at all.
In the meantime, Arcanthus then raised his hand and opened his palm…
"I'm the one draining you!" He shouted as he triggered his Soul Extraction, hoping to teach Vale a lesson.
However, to his surprise, it didn't work!
"What?!"
Vale tried to use this opportunity to get closer, but the old Immortal was still quick on his feet and avoided him.
"You sealed some of my Spell?!" He was shocked as he couldn't understand how it happened.
But there was no time to understand it… He snapped his fingers and the corpse on the altar rose with glowing eyes—animated with a cursed soul. But Vale only grinned.
"Corpse Explosion."
The enchanted cadaver burst into flame, shattering the altar and sending Arcanthus flying!
Seeing that Arcanthus' defenses had weakened, Vale realized that he could probably try the touchless extraction…
Thankfully, he was able to do it! Arcanthus momentarily dropped his Divinity Protection and he was able to use this as a chance!

"Ohh… This looks good." Vale muttered after seeing the Eternal Darkness Spell.
Still, Arcanthus managed to put up his defense, and his touchless Extraction failed.
Nonetheless, Vale was still happy with the result!
Now bloodied and burned, Arcanthus began muttering a forbidden chant. He could not understand how Vale was sealing spells and how he was being drained so easily…
However, it didn't matter now since he planned to use a Forbidden Spell!
"You think I'll let you finish?" Vale chuckled as he used his Shadow Mutilation and struck the old Immortal Shadow!
This move didn't kill the old Immortal, but it severed the flow of shadow energy.
'I guess Shadow Mutilation isn't the best spell against Shadow Immortals.' Vale mused.
Then, before he could recover, Vale activated another Immortal Spell.
Call of the Divine Lightning!
A spear of holy thunder erupted from the ceiling, striking the elder directly.
Boom!
The lab shuddered from the blast.
The Earth Immortal's barrier cracked, and he knelt in agony.
Panting, Arcanthus raised his trembling hand, trying to summon one last talisman—but Vale used Divine Extraction once again…

Just like that, memories poured in.
The elder's secrets, his forbidden spell models, his alchemical notes, and the true nature of his congregation… all rushed into Vale's mind.
"P-please…" Arcanthus stammered.
"You started it…" Vale said coldly, raising his hand. "You shouldn't have interfered."
With one final spell, True Astral Chains, Vale locked the old man's soul in place and shattered his core with a wave of his hand.
The body collapsed, and the laboratory began to rumble.
It seemed that this laboratory was actually connected to the old Immortal's life.
Anyway, Vale didn't care as he started retrieving what he could—scrolls, cursed reagents, and several preserved corpses stored in sealed containers, storage rings, and many others…
"I guess I was really this time, huh…" Vale mused as he recalled how injured Arcanthus was.
He was actually just posing as a strong Earth Immortal. However, he was already dying, and thankfully, Vale was not deceived.
After a few moments, Vale then used his Blink Spell and Traceless Shift as he vanished into the shadows before the entire lab collapsed in on itself, consumed by a self-destruct formation triggered by Arcanthus' death.

Back in the outskirts of Hymn City, Vale emerged from the darkness and took a deep breath.
His expression was calm, as if he had just taken an evening stroll…
For now, he planned to return to his Inn as he was already quite excited to see his haul.
However, as he returned to Still Flame Inn, he didn't expect that he had a visitor!
At first, he thought that it was related to the auction or perhaps to the death of Arcanthus.
However, the innkeeper explained that it was another recruiter!
This one wore no robes or armor. Instead, she was dressed like a merchant, with a dozen rings on her fingers and a veil covering half her face.
"Call me Ciara. I represent the Silent Amber Syndicate."
"A business syndicate wants to recruit a Shadow Immortal?" Vale asked.
They were already in a private room that the Innkeeper had arranged for them.
"We always need someone of your caliber, as it's not easy to conduct business in a place filled with strong Immortals."
She offered no crate—just a compact contract scroll and a promise.
"We offer 3% stakes in five black-market channels. That'll net you about two million Arcane Crystals a month. Maybe more, if you help us smuggle some relics out of contested regions."
