Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies

Lu Yin and Dacheng were sure that the beating they had received had something to do with Bai Meiyue, but they didn't dare to make a fuss. The sight of the cold corpses falling on the ground one by one was still fresh in their mind. They were afraid that if they dared to cause even the smallest form of trouble, Bai Meiyue would flay them alive.

Thus, even though they were angry and resentful, they could only lie in the hospital and keep quiet about their suspicions. In the end, the guards could not get any information from them and came to the conclusion that they were attacked by the refugees, who didn't have anything in their hands, nor did they want to go out and hunt zombies. When Bai Meiyue heard about their beating, she was having breakfast in her home. The 24-hour period had passed, and neither Bai Qianhan nor Bai Jiuque turned into zombies, which meant that they were close to awakening as an ability user, and now that she was no longer worried and Bai Zhan had stopped pacing around, Bai Meiyue felt a bit hungry.

"They were beaten?" Bai Meiyue asked Xiao Wu who was taking quite a bit of relish in the sufferings of Lu Yin and Dacheng.

Xiao Wu nodded fervently. He raised his chopsticks and took a bite of the boiled fish that was cooked by Mother Bai. Even though it didn't have many spices, the fish was cooked in the spiritual water that Bai Meiyue had filled in the vat; thus, it tasted quite delicious and not fishy at all.

"They were beaten to the point that people couldn't even recognise them. And because their mouths were swollen, they couldn't even tell anyone who they were. In the end, it was only when they took out and showed their ID cards to the guards that they were identified. Honestly, I wonder who they offended because the beating that they got was brutal. Some of the witnesses told me that they were hit on the mouth by a shoe," said Xiao Wu.

"A shoe? How did they get to that conclusion?" Bai Meiyue asked with a frown.

"There was a red and glaring imprint of a shoe print on their skin around the mouth."

Bai Meiyue: "..."

"Anyway, I think they deserved it," Xiao Wu said with a vicious satisfaction. He had heard all about the good things that Lu Yin said to Bai Meiyue when she came to look for her yesterday. The fact that those people had shamelessly taken advantage of the men going out to hunt for supplies was disgusting enough, and yet they came to their house and said such disgusting words? Who were they looking down at, huh!?

Xiao Wu was not there when this happened; if he were, then he would have rushed ahead and beaten that woman black and blue himself. It was a good thing that someone had done God's work and taught those shameless bastards a lesson.

Bai Meiyue calmed down after listening to Xiao Wu's words. She then said to him, "You are right about that."

As she spoke, she raised her head and looked at Bai Jixuan, who had come down from the second floor. With his arms over his head, he was straightening his back and yawning. Even though Bai Jixuan had slept till eleven o'clock in the morning, her second brother still looked quite sleepy. His eyes were barely opening, and he looked quite languid and tired.

"Second brother," Bai Meiyue greeted the man as he came to the dining table.

Bai Jixuan stiffened when he heard Bai Meiyue's voice; he had a feeling that she was not calling him out without any reason. He stopped scratching his stomach and smiled at Bai Meiyue with a hint of flattery. "Yueyue? You are already up?"

"Of course, I am," Bai Meiyue replied as she looked at her brother with an assessing gaze. "It's eleven in the morning."

"Oh–Oh, yes," Bai Jixuan agreed with her. He dropped his gaze when he saw that Bai Meiyue was still looking at him.

Bai Meiyue crossed her arms when she saw that her brother was avoiding her gaze. With her eyes narrowed, she asked her second brother, "Did you go somewhere last night?"

"Of course not!" Bai Jixuan replied. In fact, he replied a bit too quickly, which only made Bai Meiyue even more suspicious.

Realising that his cover was about to be blown, he turned around on his feet and muttered about taking a shower before running away.

Bai Meiyue watched him go and was even more certain that the person who beat up Lu Yin and Dacheng was her reckless and sassy second brother. She shook her head and sighed. It was a good thing that her second brother was not caught; if he had been caught beating those two, it would have become really problematic to take him out of the base.

She needed to talk with him.

He was already past twenty-four; he could no longer act as recklessly as he did in the past.

While Bai Meiyue was worrying about Bai Jixuan and his childish recklessness, Bai Zhan was worrying about his two sons. He looked at their flushed faces and couldn't help but blame himself. He knew that they were going to awaken, but at the same time, he didn't want them to suffer. It was all his fault; he couldn't protect them on his own, and that was how they ended up getting troubled like this.

"Don't think too much," Tong Huan said to Bai Zhan as she handed him a glass of water. Last night, when she heard that the two children were bitten by the zombies, she was scared out of her wits, but at the same time, she couldn't rush inside the Bai house and demand to see the two boys because even if she was worried, she was not family.
