Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies

Bai Feng soon realised that Yu Miaomiao was not the kind of woman who could lead the base after he received her orders.

She was far too ambitious. Yu Miaomiao should be focused on making life easier for the people and the ability users in the base and yet the one thing she was worried about was how to make it big. He eavesdropped on the conversation between her and the other researchers. They were talking about finding a level three zombie and experimenting on it such that they could find a vaccine for the Doomsday virus.

Yu Miaomiao was not worried about the people in the base or about their survival. The one thing she was worried about was that someone else would create the vaccine before she could, and it would lead her to lose the glory that she could win from all over the world.

Because of this very reason, more than three hundred ability users were sent out of the base to hunt down level three zombies, and only fifty of them returned alive. Even those who came back didn't return safe and sound. Some lost their limbs and some went deaf due to the attacks of the level three zombies.

Though Yu Miaomiao let them retire and promised them comfort, Bai Feng knew that the comfort that she was talking about was a bag of bread, water bottles and packed meat. Other than that, the ability users were not given anything. Now their lives were even worse than they were when they were outside the base.

Bai Feng didn't want the same thing to happen to his team members.

"You want to monopolise all the channels?" Bai Meiyue understood what Bai Feng was trying to do. She knew that her brother was quite smart when he wanted to act like a demon. Unfortunately, he was too filial or else he would be a much better partner than other ability users.

"That's right," Bai Feng replied. He didn't want to become the leader of the base, but with Yu Miaomiao targeting him, he would make sure that she would rue the day she made the decision to bring him into the Special Team. Even now, he couldn't explain how furious he was when he found out that Yu Miaomiao targeted his family to make him submit to her.

"Alright then", Bai Meiyue had nothing against his suggestion. If he really had a channel, then it meant that she could make a profit. With Yu Miaomiao trying to push her and Lei Qian to a corner, Bai Meiyue knew that the supplies were not going to be sold. But if she used Bai Feng's channel, then she could at least earn some crystal nuclei if she sold the supplies that she brought to Bai Feng.

That way, it would be more profitable for her.

After agreeing, she turned around and was about to walk away, but then she recalled something and turned to look at Bai Feng with a hint of amusement in her eyes. She stared at him sideways and questioned, "What did you say just now? Your parents were taken away by Yu Miaomiao? Though that woman is not a kind person, I can't allow you to do wrong to her like that. She didn't force them to go with her; instead, a few days ago, I saw your mother speaking with Fox, right around the stairs. The two of them had a really meaningful conversation about how Bai Xue could get a decent job as long as you joined the special team."

"What did you say? They were forced? Haha, I am telling you there was no coercion, just greed allowed."

Bai Meiyue brought this matter up deliberately. She knew that Bai Feng trusted the Bai couple a lot, and he even cared for Bai Xue as his little sister. Now, how did it feel? Getting stabbed in the back by the sweet and kind sister? If he still took Bai Xue as his kind sister who didn't know any better, then Bai Meiyue would give up.

Fortunately, Bai Feng still had some brains. Upon hearing Bai Meiyue's words, his expression changed, and his face twisted with realisation of the betrayal. Seeing his expression, Bai Meiyue was quite satisfied. She turned around on her feet and walked away, her lips curling up in a victorious smile.

In the past, Bai Feng often told her that she was being too heartless by pushing Bai Qinsghi away. After all, he was her father, and even if he did something wrong, she shouldn't cut him off like that. But what Bai Feng never saw was that Bai Qingshi was like a leech, slowly draining their blood bit by bit without stopping.

In her last life, Bai Qingshi didn't feel guilty about what he had done; instead, he used her by telling her that she was his daughter, and thus, he could use her as he wanted, just because she had his blood and flesh in her body. A man like that… he wouldn't even shed a tear if he sucked his children dry.

It was better to trust a hungry lion rather than Bai Qingshi and Chu Xia.

Bai Feng's face turned again and again. His body was now shrouded with golden lightning as it zapped in the air. He didn't want to hurt anyone in the medical ward; thus, he turned around on his feet and headed out of the building without looking back.

His departure didn't surprise anyone.

Lu Jingguo thought over what Bai Meiyue had told them, and his expression started to change as well. Who didn't know that Yu Miaomiao had given the task of recruiting ability users to Fox, and Fox was one sly man who would use all kinds of skills and sweet talk to get what he wanted? The fact that Chu Xia and Fox had a conversation and came to a conclusion that benefited both of them – what did it tell them? It meant that what Chu Xia said to them about being coerced and threatened by Yu Miaomiao and Bai Meiyue, not helping them at all, was all lies!
