Chapter 490: Old Master Bai (2)
Yang Wei then turned to look at Mother Bai and the rest of the nurses who came out of the labour room. He said to them, "Thank you! Thank you very much! I, Yang Wei, will remember this favour for all my life. Even if you ask me to die for you, I will willingly do it."
"Don't say such unlucky words at such a good occasion," said Mother Bai.
"That's right, you need to stay alive for your child and wife. If you die, how will they grow up safely?" said Nurse Lin with a hint of reproach over her kind face. She then smiled and continued, "Make sure to thank your wife. She gave you a beautiful baby boy born on February 16, 20XX, born in the morning at 7:07. The baby boy weighs around 6 kgs; hold him like this."
Yang Wei corrected his manner of holding the baby and then turned to look at Nurse Lin. We asked, "What about my wife? Where is she? Is she okay?"
"You don't have to worry about her; she is alright. She just lost a lot of blood and needs to stay back and recuperate for a while. Once she is stabilised, we will bring her out of the labour room."
She told a few more things to Yang Wei and then asked Mother Bai to help him out with the newborn baby before she went inside the labour room to help Shen Zhen and the rest of the nurses in taking care of Sister Yang, who was still unconscious after using all of her strength in pushing the child out of her body.
Mo He and the rest of the team disappeared; only Yang Chunhua stayed behind to take a peek at the baby boy, and so did Bai Meiyue. She took one look at the child in the arms of Yang Wei and smiled.
Thankfully, the world was not completely abandoned.
She looked at the spiritual energy that was circulating around the child, and her smile widened. Though there were dark days in front of them, the birth of a child always brought new hope into the world. She raised her head and looked at Yang Wei, whose face was filled with smiles as he talked and listened to her mother's suggestions and advice.
This man, just a few days ago, was filled with so much distress that he looked like he was abandoned by the world; however, now that he had a child in his life, those lifeless eyes had finally lit up with hope and happiness.
Bai Meiyue took a few more looks at the child's face and then turned around to leave. Though she was aware of the mocking taunts behind her, as many survivors called her the holy mother for bringing orphans and pregnant women to her base and helping them, Bai Meiyue didn't care about anything.
Bai Meiyue was not a Holy Mother; she would never even consider herself as one because she was naturally not one. She would rob and kill as long as it meant to survive. How could a person like her be called good? She just wanted these children to have a chance to live like her son.
And when she could do it with ease, what was the point of letting her conscience fall into conflict?
However, the only problem would be moving. She could, of course, use the helicopter that she had collected, have it stored at some other point and use it to transport the babies and the kids. It would be slightly troublesome, but Bai Meiyue was not someone who would abandon her responsibility halfway.
She paused and exhaled heavily. She turned and looked at the large window on the side and watched the sun rays break through the horizon. The sky started to turn pale, and soon the darkness of the night had dissipated, leaving nothing but brilliant brightness behind.
Bai Meiyue was watching the daybreak and thinking about life when, unexpectedly, she ran into Director Feng. The two of them had not met for a while now, not since Wang Ba ran away. Bai Meiyue knew that it was because Director Feng was ashamed, but she told him that it had nothing to do with him.
Director Feng had awakened a few days ago, and he had awakened as a gravity-type supernatural being. Thus, he not only collected supplies for himself but also for Wen Mian and the team; thus, she had nothing against him.
Bai Meiyue turned and looked at the man who was accompanying Director Feng. The man seemed to be in his late sixties; his hair was meticulously combed, and he had a faint smile on his lips. When Bai Meiyue saw the man for some reason, she felt really close to him, even though it was the first time she had seen the old man.
When Director Feng saw her, he raised his head and smiled at her. He said to her, "Meiyue, come here. I will introduce you to someone."
"This is Old Master Bai, the old chief of the army. If you encounter any problems, then you can let him know. For now, he and his family have separated, but soon they will meet with one another."
Bai Meiyue nodded at Old Master Bai; she was quite surprised that this old master was also surnamed Bai, but she knew well enough that that was where the coincidences ended. Old Master Bai looked like he was from a good family. From his ruddy complexion to his clothes, he looked really well off.
As for her grandparents, they were simple farmers who died one after another.
There was no way she was related to this big-shot old man.
With that, Director Feng then turned to look at Old Master Bai. He said to him, "This girl is my god granddaughter. You have to look after her; you can't let someone like Yu Miaomiao bully her."
Old Master Bai smiled and said, "Alright, I get it. If she is your granddaughter then she is mine too."
