Chapter 477: AHH Ghost!
On the other side, at the Xen community, Bai Meiyue had no idea that Lei Qian had already broken through the smoke screen that she had created. At that moment, she was hiding behind a wall while looking at the group of three people who were patrolling. Each of them was holding a cigar in their hands and smoking in the middle of the ground.
"Have you noticed that the weather has become more and more abnormal? If this goes on, how are we going to survive? Not to mention the rising numbers of those monsters."
"I am worried as well. If this goes on, I am afraid that the boss will start sending us along with the ability users to kill the zombies. I don't want to face those monsters; they are really terrifying."
"What the hell? Why are you scared of those monsters? With the ability users taking the lead, do you even need to worry about anything? Just stay back and collect the supplies and goods. What's there to be scared of? Just look at yourselves; you two are so big and strong. If you are scared of those monsters whom we can kill in one shot, then that's really unfortunate."
The one who spoke was a short man who snorted unhappily. He went on, "You should think about people like me, what are we going to do? Nor am I strong; neither am I tall. If I get caught by those beasts, think how I will escape from them?"
As the man spoke, he took another swig of his cigar, and he turned to look left while muttering, "If the boss asks me to go and collect supplies, I am telling you that I am not going to go, if I go, then I will definitely not come back…"
The man trailed off when he saw a woman standing at the corner of the building that was not far from where they were standing. The woman's smile was a little crooked as she looked at them.
However, the second the man blinked, the woman disappeared.
The short man was stunned. He raised his hands and rubbed his eyes and continued to peek at the corner where he had seen the woman.
"What's the matter?" one of the men who stood next to the short man asked. He turned and looked in the direction in which the short man was looking.
"There was a woman!" the short man pointed in the dark corner. "She was looking at me and smiling. It was really scary."
"Come on now," the man with a crew cut rolled his eyes and said to the short man. "You really are going to pull that move on us now? Just because we told you that we are scared of monsters, are you going to play a prank on us like this?"
"I am speaking the truth," the short man insisted when he saw that no one believed his words. "I really saw a woman there. She had long hair and a really creepy smile." He paused and added, "What if a zombie snuck inside the territory when no one was paying attention?"
As soon as the short man finished speaking, the two men shuddered because if there was one thing that they were scared of at the moment, then that was zombies. The two men looked at one another and then turned to look at the dark corner where the short man had pointed.
The one with long hair said to the short man, "I am telling you that if you lie to us, we will not leave you alone."
Even though the short men swore that he had not lied to them, the two men still didn't quite trust them. What if they were being fooled by him? However, when the short man reassured them again and again that he was not lying, the three men slowly made their way to the dark corner.
A part of them wanted to call the special ability users, but they feared the anger of their boss in case it was found out that there was nothing.
And just like they expected, as they arrived at the dark corner, they didn't see anything.
The man with long hair turned to look at the short man and glared at him. Cursing angrily, he said to the man, "You bastard, you are actually playing us like fools. Look at this, where is the zombie?" His heart was about to fail just now.
As he spoke, the man raised his foot and kicked the short man on the back. "You really know how to play others like a fool."
When the short man was kicked on the back, he stumbled and fell to the ground with a thump. He rubbed his overly large behind and peered past the two men before saying to them, "But—But I really saw a woman here. How can… she suddenly disappear like this?"
When the two men heard his remark, they simply rolled their eyes and walked away, not taking a single word of the short man seriously.
The short man opened his mouth; he wanted to stop the two men, but when he thought about how there was no one in the dark corner, he closed his mouth and slowly got to his feet. He once again peered inside the dark corner and rubbed his head with a frown on his face.
"How come… did I drink too much?" he wondered out loud. Seeing that there was really nothing in the dark corner, he shrugged, turned around on his feet and walked away. However, he had hardly taken three steps forward when suddenly something pierced his chest.
The sharp pain made the short man look down, and he only had the chance to mutter a soft ow before he fell on the ground with a thump.
The sound startled the two men who were walking ahead of the short man. They immediately turned around and looked at the short man who was lying on the ground with blood pooling around him.
