Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies

In the apocalypse world, meat was not as difficult to get. Though it was hard to hunt animals that had mutated, it was not impossible. As long as the survivors could get past the psychological barrier, they would be able to eat the meat of the hunted mutated monsters. But the same could not be said for the plants that have mutated.

Unlike the mutated animals, the plants all over the planet had developed the same poisonous characteristics, which took years to suppress. Because of this, the price of vegetables was always higher than that of meat. Because of this, there was a sudden change in the dietary condition of the upper and the lower sections of society.

With the base controlling the supernatural ability users who could grow plants, they were the ones who made the last decision regarding who was given the majority of the fruit and vegetable supplies. Thus, those with power and resources were given the right to pick and choose, while those who were in the lower ranks of groups would be given the hard and cold meat of the mutated animals.

Because vegetables and fruits were such valuable resources, they would be given to the high-class society. Thus, one of the quickest ways to get rich was to set up a stall and sell vegetables and fruits.

What was more, there was an extraordinary surge of sweet potatoes in their greenhouse. As long as they harvested the sweet potatoes and sold them, they would be able to earn a lot of crystal nuclei.

When Mother Bai heard the words of her daughter, she agreed at once. However, she only agreed to sell the cheapest and most useless vegetables that even the pigs and the chickens were bored of eating. Her reason was simple: with Yu Miaomiao targeting them, they could no longer attract more attention to themselves. Just sell the simplest batch and attract as many buyers as possible.

This way, Bai Meiyue didn't have to go around the street to hunt for crystal nuclei.

Bai Meiyue said to her mother, "That's fine. You can sell the vegetables as you want; if possible, you can also sell water bottles and some fruits like papaya that I cannot eat."

She paused and added, "However, don't sell them directly. Pack them all in old boxes and let me freeze them first. This way, you can make it look like these vegetables were found outside and brought back by us." She was worried that with Yu Miaomiao's suspicious nature, she would start investigating their source to get fresh vegetables, and that would be troublesome.

Bai Meiyue didn't say anything. At present, the less her mother knew, the better. If she were to find out that she could grow plants and vegetables, she would become a danger to herself.

The four of them returned to the penthouse where they lived, but before they could enter the door of their penthouse, they heard the sound of something breaking inside.

Bai Zhan's eyes darkened, and he immediately rushed inside.

Bai Meiyue didn't even get the chance to catch a glimpse of the man whom Bai Zhan tackled to the floor. It was only when she stepped close to the man that she realised that it was none other than Dacheng.

Bai Meiyue narrowed her eyes when she saw the face of the man. She glanced at the man and asked, "And just what are you doing here?" as a chill crept up her eyes.

Dacheng looked up at her. His expression was perfectly blank as he smiled at her. "I just wanted to clear a small thing." His eyes fell on Bai Meiyue's swollen belly, and he asked in a soft voice, "Whose child are you carrying in your womb?"

He thought that as long as he told the truth to Lei Qian, the man would drive Bai Meiyue away from him but contrary to his expectations, Lei Qian got even closer to Bai Meiyue!
