After speaking, he turned to look at Bai Meiyue, who was talking with Shen Zhen. When she sensed his heated gaze, she turned around and looked at Lei Qian, who was staring at her with the same fiery gaze. "Wait a second," she turned to look at Shen Zhen and excused herself before getting up from her seat and then walked over to where Lei Qian was sitting. She arched a brow as she came to a stop and questioned, "What do you think you are doing? Why are you looking at me like that?"

In response, the man pulled her onto the chair next to him and said to her, "Looking at you like what?"

With his lips curling into a soft smile, he whispered, "Like my next favourite sin?"

Bai Meiyue narrowed her eyes and turned to glare at the man. She pushed his face away and said to him, "Are you drunk? What kind of nonsense are you saying?"

It was bad enough that this man was dead gorgeous, but on top of that, when he said things like these, it made her heart flutter.

"I am not saying nonsense." Lei Qian, whose face was pushed to one side, was not deterred. He licked the inside of her palm, which made Bai Meiyue pull her hand away in disgust and say to her, "I am telling the truth. You look like my next biggest sin."

"And you look like my next victim," Bai Meiyue deadpanned. Her patience reached its limit when she heard the good things that Lei Qian was telling her. She was about to get up and leave when Zhou Hongbei, who was sitting on her right, raised the glass of wine in his hands and stood up from his chair. He then showed her a polite smile and bowed.

"Miss Bai, it's all thanks to you that we were able to survive that tragedy. I just realised that I didn't thank you enough for the help that you have given us. I will toast you for the help that you have given to us."

He then turned to look at Lei Qian and bowed in front of him as well. "You too, Master Lei. I believe that without your help, we couldn't have rescued the children so quickly."

"I toast the two of you for your help and the great courage that you have shown earlier."

"That's right, sister-in-law!" Doctor Cui, who was in a hurry to save his life, immediately gave a straight sentence.

When Bai Meiyue saw the situation turning around, she had no idea how to deal with it. She turned her head and looked at Lei Qian, but the man was already looking at her. She wanted to ask him if he was the one who made Doctor Cui call her sister in law but the man didn't even look at Doctor Cui.

Instead, he was staring at her as if waiting for her to make the decision.

Was he waiting for her to drink the wine? Or was he waiting for her to retort to Doctor Cui and correct him?

But how was she supposed to drink the wine when she was pregnant? And as for Doctor Cui calling her sister-in-law, that matter never even hit home because she was worried about how to deal with the wine glass in front of her.

To drink or not to drink?

Bai Meiyue gritted her teeth and was about to decline. Even if her actions made Lei Qian suspicious, she didn't dare to risk the safety of her son. Though there were women who could drink when they were pregnant and were unaware of the situation and yet had a safe pregnancy, Bai Meiyue didn't dare to do it.

Her little son was born with a sickly body, and she dared not harm him by acting uncaring.

However, before she could refuse, Bai Meiyue saw Lei Qian reach out and pick up the glasses one by one from Zhou Hongbei's hands. He then drowned the entire glass in one shot, followed by the other one.

Lei Qian turned to look at Zhou Hongbei and said to him, "You shouldn't toast a woman who just turned eighteen. She is still young."

For a second, Bai Meiyue was worried that the man had cottoned on to her pregnancy, but when she saw him looking over at her with concern in his eyes, she understood that it was all due to that night when the two of them met. He must be thinking that she was afraid of getting drunk, which was why he said those words.

No matter what the reason, as long as he was willing to help her out of this situation, Bai Meiyue didn't care about anything.

She heaved a sigh of relief when she saw that the wine in front of her was gone.

On the other side, Dacheng, who had followed the entire team to the Bai family's penthouse for a celebratory banquet, clicked his tongue and downed a can of beer that he brought with him.

He was amused when he saw the actions of Lei Qian.

Looking at Lei Qian's dog-like licking actions, he couldn't find even an ounce of respect for this man. But when he thought about how Lei Qian was much more skilled than he was, he had no choice but to lower his head and hide the contempt in his eyes.

He would let this man suck up to Bai Meiyue as much as he wanted but the second Bai Meiyue's pregnancy started to show, he would definitely cause trouble for him.
